Definitions
- the present invention relates to a process for preparing trimethylchlorosilane (M3) and methyltrichlorosilane (Ml) by means of disproportionation of dimethyldichlorosilane (M2) in the presence of an A ⁇ Ch catalyst, the dimethyldichlorosilane being used in the form of a silane mixture containing 80-100 wt. -% dimethyldichlorosilane (M2) contains, and the difference in proportion to 100% by weight contains Ml and M3.
- the catalyst is activated with chlorosilane before the actual process.
- Trimethylchlorosilane (M3) is an industrially important raw material, it is used, for example, in the manufacture of silicones, for hydrophobic treatment and in organic synthesis.
- M3 is limited. It is formed, for example, as a by-product in the Müller-Rochow process, or it can be obtained from tetramethylsilane (TMS) - also a by-product of the Müller-Rochow process.
- TMS tetramethylsilane
- the silane mixture created in the Müller-Rochow process contains the main product dimethyldichlorosilane (M2) in concentrations of 70% by weight to 90% by weight, but also methyltrichlorosilane (Ml), trimethylchlorosilane (M3), dimethyltetrachlorodisilane and other silanes. These must be separated from one another by rectification.
- EP0219718A1 discloses the disproportionation of M2 to M3 and M1 using a catalyst complex of A1X 3 and CuX n , where X is a halogen atom and n is 1 or 2.

Description
17,99 Gew.-% an Ml hergestellt.
