- FIG. 1 is a block diagram of a web page translation system according to the first embodiment.
- the web page translation system 10 of this embodiment includes a web server 11 and a translation server 12.
- the web server 11 and the translation server 12 are connected to a communication network 90 such as the Internet.
- the terminal 13 can be connected to the communication network 90.
- the terminal 13 is an information communication device used by a user, such as a smartphone, a tablet terminal, or a personal computer.
- the web server 11 is a web page providing device that holds web page data including text and provides the web page to the terminal 13.
- the web page is, for example, hypertext described in HTML (HyperText Markup Language).
- Hypertext may include display of images and embedded content.
- the embedded content is content such as a bulletin board, an input form, and a shopping cart that displays text on a web page based on a database.
- the language of the embedded content may be different from the language of the entire web page.
- FIG. 2 is an image diagram showing a display example of a web page provided by the web server 11.
- the web page P1 includes Japanese texts T1 to T3, images I1 to I3, and an embedded display E1.
- the embedded display E1 is a display of a shopping cart that is embedded content, and includes Japanese text.
- the translation server 12 is a web page translation device that translates the text of the web page provided by the web server 11.
- the translation server 12 receives the request from the web server 11, translates the web page, and provides it to the user terminal 13.
- FIG. 3 is an image diagram showing a display example of a web page obtained by translating the web page P1 of FIG. 2 into English by the translation server 12.
- translated web page P1E includes texts T1E to T3E in which Japanese texts T1 to T3 in translated web page P1 shown in FIG. 2 are translated into English.
- the language used for the web page P1 is Japanese
- the web page P1 includes Japanese text.
- the language used in the terminal 13 is assumed to be English. Therefore, in this example, the Japanese text of the web page P1 shown in FIG. 2 is translated into English.
- the web server 11 When the web server 11 receives a request for the web page P ⁇ b> 1 from the terminal 13, the web server 11 acquires information on the language used (English) set in the terminal 13.
- the terminal 13 is a personal computer that accesses the web server 11 by a browser
- the web server 11 acquires language information registered in the browser of the terminal 13. Since the language information is acquired from the browser of the terminal 13, the language used by the user can be automatically acquired without the user having to specify the language.
- the terminal 13 is a smartphone or tablet terminal that accesses the web server 11 by an application that operates on an operating system (OS)
- the web server 11 stores the language information set in the OS that operates on the terminal 13. get. Since the language information is acquired from the OS of the terminal 13, it is possible to automatically know the language used by the user without the user having to specify the language.
- OS operating system
- the web server 11 is in a state in which the language used for the web page P1 provided by the web server 11 can be known in advance, and if the language used for the terminal 13 is different from the language used for the web page P1, the language used for the terminal 13 The information on the language used for the web page P1 and the data of the web page P1 are transmitted to the translation server 12. If the language used by the terminal 13 is the same as the language used in the web page P1, the web server 11 transmits the data of the web page P1 to the terminal 13 as usual.
- the translation server 12 When the translation server 12 receives from the web server 11 information on the language used by the terminal 13 and the language used on the web page P1 and data on the web page P1, the translation source translation box (first translation) corresponding to the web page P1. Box) is defined, and the language used for the web page P1 is associated with the translation source translation box.
- the translation server 12 also defines a translation destination translation box (second translation box) corresponding to the terminal 13 and associates the language used by the terminal 13 with the translation destination translation box (second translation box).
- the translation box is an area that is virtually set in the memory or the storage device in order to execute the translation of the text of the web page.
- the translation box includes a translation source translation box in which data of a web page to be translated is stored and a translation destination translation box in which data of a translated web page is stored.
- the physical position where the translation box is set is not particularly limited and may exist anywhere. For example, it may be set in the storage area of the web server 11 or may be set in the storage area of the translation server 12. Alternatively, the translation box may be set on a cloud accessible by the translation server 12 via the communication network 90.
- the translation server 12 translates the text included in the data in the translation source translation box using the language associated with the translation source translation box as the translation source language and the language associated with the translation destination translation box as the translation destination language. Meanwhile, the combination of the translation source translation box and the translation destination translation box is set so that the data in the translation source translation box is expanded to the translation destination translation box. This expansion refers to writing data in the translation box.
- the translation server 12 expands the web page P1 data in the translation source translation box.
- the Japanese text of the web page P1 expanded in the translation source translation box is translated into English, and the data of the translated web page P1E is expanded in the translated translation box.
- the translation server 12 transmits the data of the translated web page P1E expanded in the translated translation box based on the combination to the terminal 13.
- the translation source translation box corresponding to the web page P1 and the translation destination translation box corresponding to the terminal 13 are combined, and the web page P1 is expanded by expanding the data of the web page P1 into the translation source translation box. Since the translation is performed, the text in the web page P1 can be translated into the translation target language regardless of the structure of the web page P1. Specifically, even if the embedded content is included in the web page P1, the text of the content can also be translated. Further, since the language information set in the terminal 13 is autonomously acquired by the web server 11 and the language is used as the translation destination language, the user terminal 13 can automatically perform the language selection operation without the user performing the language selection operation. Translation can be performed with the language being used as the target language.
- Another method that eliminates the need for the user to specify the target language is that only the top page is created in the language of each country, and pages other than the top page are translated into the same language as the top page when viewed. .
- this approach has some disadvantages.
- translation cannot be performed when the user directly accesses a page other than the top page.
- the method according to the present embodiment does not cause these disadvantages.
- the web page to be translated may contain multiple texts with different languages. This is also the case if the web page contains embedded content that displays text in a language different from the language used for the entire web page. In that case, if the language used by the terminal 13 is different from the language used in any text included in the web page (partial language), the web server 11 sets the portion to be translated, and the terminal 13 The information on the language used, the information on the partial language used, the information specifying the portion to be translated of the web page, and the data on the web page are transmitted to the translation server 12.
- the translation server 12 defines a first translation box corresponding to the web page, associates a partial use language of the web page with the first translation box, and defines a second translation box corresponding to the terminal 13.
- the language used by the terminal 13 is associated with the second translation box. At this time, as an example, one or more partial use languages are associated with the first translation box for each part to be translated.
- FIG. 4 is a sequence diagram showing the operation of the web page translation system according to the first embodiment.
- the terminal 13 acquires the language information set in itself (step 102), and the specified URL and the language information of the terminal 13 are obtained. Is sent to the web server 11 (step 103). Here, it is assumed that English is set in the language information of the terminal 13.
- the web server 11 When the web server 11 receives the request from the terminal 13, the web server 11 knows the language used for the web page specified by the URL and the language used for the terminal 13 set in the language information (step 104). Subsequently, the web server 11 determines the necessity of translation by comparing the language used for the web page with the language used for the terminal 13 (step 105). If the language used on the web page matches the language used on the terminal 13, it is determined that translation is unnecessary. If the language used for the web page and the language used for the terminal 13 are different, it is determined that translation is necessary.
- the language used for the web page is Japanese. Therefore, since the language used for the web page (Japanese) and the language used for the terminal 13 (English) are different, it is determined that translation is necessary.
- the web server 11 transmits a translation request including the data of the original web page written in Japanese, the translation source language and the translation destination language, and the address of the terminal 13 to the translation server 12. (Step 106).
- the translation server 12 provides an application programming interface (API) for controlling the execution of translation to the web server 11 and cooperates with the web server 11 via the API to translate web pages as shown below.
- API application programming interface
- the provision of the translated web page to the terminal 13 may be executed.
- the translation server 12 since the translation server 12 provides a translation function by API, automatic translation of a web page can be easily realized by the web server 11 using the API.
- the translation server 12 When receiving the translation request from the web server 11, the translation server 12 defines a translation source translation box corresponding to the web page and a translation destination translation box corresponding to the terminal 13 (step 107, step 108).
- a translation source translation box and a translation destination translation box are set on the web server 11. Since the translation box is configured by the resources of the web server 11, the resource consumption of the translation server 12 is suppressed, and the translation server 12 can cover the web page translation of a large number of web servers 11.
- the translation server 12 determines the translation source language and the translation destination language to be included in the translation request, translates the text in the translation source translation box, and expands it in the translation destination translation box.
- the box and the translation destination translation box are combined (step 109). Here, it is set to translate from Japanese to English.
- the translation server 12 may execute translation using an external machine translation service or a machine translation engine separately introduced from the outside.
- the translation server 12 may set a connection with a machine translation service or a machine translation engine in advance, and when a translation request is received from the web server 11, the connection may be used for the translation request.
- the translation server 12 sets at least one connection with a machine translation service or a machine translation engine in advance, and includes information on the language used by the terminal 13 and the language used by the web page from the web server 11.
- a connection may be assigned to a set of a terminal and a web page. In that case, the translation server 12 further sets a translation source language and a translation destination language in the machine translation service or machine translation engine of the allocated connection.
- the translation server 12 translates the text contained in the web page from Japanese to English by expanding the web page data contained in the translation request in the translation source translation box (step 110). At this time, the data of the web page in which the text is translated into English is expanded in the translation destination translation box.
- the translation server 12 transmits the web page data translated into English in the translation destination translation box to the address of the terminal 13 included in the translation request (step 111).
- the terminal 13 displays the web page received from the translation server 12 (step 112).
- a web page written in Japanese is automatically translated into English and displayed for a user who has set English in the terminal 13.
- the web server 11 determines that translation is unnecessary in step 105, and the original web page data designated by the URL is directly stored in the terminal 13. Send. As a result, the original web page written in Japanese is displayed on the terminal 13.
- the web server 11 uses the data of the original web page specified by the URL as in the case where it is determined that the translation is unnecessary in step 105.
- the data is transmitted to the terminal 13 as it is.
- the original web page written in Japanese is displayed on the terminal 13.
- FIG. 5 is a block diagram of the web server 11.
- the web server 11 includes a reception unit 21, a transmission unit 22, a translation necessity determination unit 23, and a storage unit 24.
- the storage unit 24 holds web page data.
- the receiving unit 21 receives a request for a web page specifying a URL from the terminal 13.
- the translation necessity determination unit 23 acquires information about the language used in the terminal 13 from the request received by the reception unit 21, and the language used in the terminal 13 is used in the specified web page. Determine if it matches or differs from the language used.
- the transmission unit 22 determines a transmission destination according to the determination result of the translation necessity determination unit 23 and transmits the web page data.
- FIG. 6 is a flowchart showing web page transmission processing by the web server 11.
- This web page transmission process is a process executed by the transmission unit 22. If it is determined by the translation necessity determination unit 23 that the language used by the terminal 13 matches the language used by the web page (Yes in step 901), the transmission unit 22 transmits the web page data to the terminal 13. (Step 902).
- the transmission unit 22 translates the language used for the terminal 13 as the translation destination language and the language used for the web page as the translation source language.
- a translation request including the source language, the destination language, the web page data, and the address of the terminal 13 is transmitted to the translation server 12 (step 903).
- FIG. 7 is a block diagram of the translation server 12.
- the translation server 12 includes a reception unit 31, a transmission unit 32, a box definition unit 33, a box combination unit 34, and a box combination execution unit 35.
- the receiving unit 31 receives from the web server 11 a translation request including information on the language used for the terminal 13 and the language used for the web page, and web page data.
- the box definition unit 33 defines a translation source translation box corresponding to the web page, associates a language used by the web page with the translation source translation box, defines a translation destination translation box corresponding to the terminal 13, The language used by the terminal 13 is associated with the translation box for translation.
- the box coupling unit 34 translates the text included in the data in the translation source translation box using the language associated with the translation source translation box as the translation source language and the language associated with the translation destination translation box as the translation destination language.
- the combination of the translation source translation box and the translation target translation box is set so that the data in the source translation box is expanded to the translation destination translation box.
- the box combination execution unit 35 expands the web page data in the translation source translation box. In other words, the box combination execution unit 35 expands the web page data in the translation source translation box into the translation destination translation box while translating the text included therein by coupling the translation source translation box and the translation destination translation box. .
- the transmission unit 32 transmits the data of the web page after translation developed in the translation destination translation box based on the combination to the terminal 13.
- FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing translation control processing by the translation server 12.
- the translation control process is an overall process executed by the translation server 12.
- the translation server 12 first receives a translation request (step 201).
- the translation request includes data of the web page before translation, information on the translation source language and translation destination language, and the address of the terminal 13 that requested the web page.
- FIG. 9 is a flowchart showing detailed processing of the box definition processing.
- the translation server 12 executes the translation source translation box setting process for the translation source translation box corresponding to the web page specified in the translation request (step 301). Specifically, the translation server 12 defines a translation source translation box corresponding to the web page included in the translation request, and associates the language used by the web page with the translation source translation box.
- the translation server 12 executes a translation destination translation box setting process for the young translation box corresponding to the terminal 13 specified in the translation request (step 302). Specifically, the translation server 12 defines a translation destination translation box corresponding to the terminal 13, and associates the language used by the terminal 13 with the translation destination translation box.
- the translation server 12 includes the language associated with the translation source translation box as the translation source language and the language associated with the translation destination translation box as the translation destination language in the data in the translation source translation box.
- the translation of the translation source translation box and the translation destination translation box is set so that the data in the translation source translation box is expanded into the translation destination translation box while the text to be translated is translated (step 203). Details of the box combination processing in step 203 will be described later.
- step 204 the translation server 12 expands the web page data in the translation source translation box. Details of the translation execution process in step 204 will be described later.
- the translation server 12 transmits the data of the web page after translation developed in the translation destination translation box based on the combination to the terminal 13 indicated by the address included in the translation request (step 205).
- FIG. 10 is a flowchart showing the detailed process of the box combination process.
- translation server 12 first determines the source language in the box combination process (step 401).
- the translation source language may be obtained by acquiring information on the language associated with the translation source translation box, or may be obtained from information on the translation source language included in the translation request.
- the translation server 12 determines a translation destination language (step 402).
- the translation destination language may be obtained from information on the language associated with the translation destination translation box, or may be obtained from information on the translation destination language included in the translation request.
