Abstract
Description
高分子型有機EL素子では、印刷、インクジェット等の湿式プロセスによる成膜が可能である。そのため、主に真空系で成膜が行われる低分子型有機EL素子と比較して、高分子型有機EL素子は、大画面化及び低コスト化が容易であり、今後の大画面有機ELディスプレイ等への適用が期待されている。
また、各種有機エレクトロニクス素子の特性を向上させる観点から、有機膜は膜厚が均一であることが好ましい。
均一な膜厚を有する有機膜を形成するためには、有機膜を構成するインクのぬれ性が重要と考えられる。インクのぬれ性が悪い場合、乾燥後の有機膜の膜厚が面内で均一にならないことから、所望とする特性を得ることが困難となる。例えば、有機EL素子では、均一な発光を得ることが困難となるため、改善が求められている。
また、下層に対して表面処理を行う方法によれば、有機膜が多層化されるほど、下層となる有機膜の表面処理を繰り返すことになるため、表面処理によって有機膜が本来有する電荷輸送性等の特性が低下するという問題があった。
上記のとおり、下層に対するインクのぬれ性、及び該インクから形成された有機膜の上層インクとのぬれ性の双方を改善する、より簡便な方法の要求があった。
一実施形態は、電荷輸送性ポリマーを含有する電荷輸送性材料であって、上記電荷輸送性ポリマーは、以下(I)又は(II)の少なくとも1つを満たす、電荷輸送性材料に関する。
(I)炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基、及びカルボニル含有基を有する1価の置換基を互いに独立して有する。
(II)炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基とカルボニル含有基とが直接結合してなる1価の置換基を有する。
ここで、上記(I)及び上記(II)において、上記1価の置換基の各々は、上記電荷輸送性ポリマーの少なくとも1つの末端に存在することが好ましい。
また、上記(I)及び上記(II)において、上記炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基の各々は、炭素数7~20のシクロアルキル基であることが好ましい。
また、上記(I)及び上記(II)において、上記カルボニル含有基の各々は、下式(a)~(i)で表される2価の連結基の少なくとも1種を含むことが好ましい。
上記電荷輸送性材料の上記電荷輸送性ポリマーは、上記(II)を満たすことが好ましい。
上記電荷輸送性材料の上記電荷輸送性ポリマーは、電荷輸送性を有する2価の構造単位と、電荷輸送性を有する3価以上の構造単位とを含有することが好ましい。
上記電荷輸送性材料の上記電荷輸送性ポリマーは、芳香族アミン構造、カルバゾール構造、チオフェン構造、フルオレン構造、ベンゼン構造、及びピロール構造からなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含む構造単位を有することが好ましい。
上記電荷輸送性材料の上記電荷輸送性ポリマーは、少なくとも1つの重合性官能基を有することが好ましい。
上記電荷輸送性材料は、正孔注入層材料として使用されることが好ましい。
他の一実施形態は、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料と、溶媒とを含む、インク組成物に関する。
他の一実施形態は、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料、又は上記実施形態のインク組成物を用いて形成された有機膜を有する、有機エレクトロニクス素子に関する。
他の一実施形態は、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料、又は上記実施形態のインク組成物を用いて形成された有機膜を有する、有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子に関する。
上記有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子は、フレキシブル基板をさらに有することが好ましい。

<電荷輸送性材料>
一実施形態において、電荷輸送性材料は、後述する特定の電荷輸送性ポリマーを含有する。電荷輸送性材料は、上記特定の電荷輸送性ポリマーの2種以上を含有しても、さらに他の電荷輸送性ポリマーを含んでもよい。
一実施形態において、電荷輸送性ポリマーは、1種以上の電荷輸送性の構造単位を有し、上記電荷輸送性ポリマーの分子内に、炭素数7以上の脂環式構造と、カルボニル含有基とを有する。具体的には、電荷輸送性ポリマーは、以下(I)又は(II)の少なくとも1つを満たす。
(I)炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基、及びカルボニル含有基を有する1価の置換基を互いに独立して有する。
(II)炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基とカルボニル含有基とが直接結合してなる1価の置換基を有する。
[炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基(A)]
炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基(A)(以下、置換基(A)という)は、環を構成する炭素の数が7以上の飽和又は不飽和の脂環式化合物から水素原子を1個取り除いた構造を有する1価の置換基を含む。上記脂環式化合物において、環を構成する炭素原子に結合する水素原子の一部は、有機基Rで置換されていてもよい(但し、有機基Rは後述するカルボニル含有基を含まない)。上記有機基Rの一例として、アルキル基、アミノ基、ヒドロキシル基等が挙げられる。上記アルキル基は、直鎖又は分岐であることが好ましい。上記アルキル基の炭素数は、1~12が好ましく、1~8がより好ましく、1~4がさらに好ましい。
シクロアルキル基は、シクロヘプタン、シクロオクタン、シクロノナン、シクロデカン、シクロウンデカン、シクロドデカン、ビシクロウンデカン、デカヒドロナフタレン、ノルカラン(ビシクロ-[4.1.0]-ヘプタン)、ノルボルナン(ビシクロ-[2.2.1]-ヘプタン)、ビシクロ-[2.2.2]-オクタン、ビシクロ-[3.3.0]-オクタン、ビシクロ-[4.3.0]-ノナン、テトラヒドロジシクロペンタジエン(トリシクロ[5.2.1.02,6]デカン)、アダマンタン(トリシクロ[3.3.1.13,7]デカン)、ツイスタン(トリシクロ[4.4.0.03,8]デカン)等のシクロアルカンから誘導される、1価の基である。
シクロアルケニル基は、シクロヘプテン、シクロヘキサジエン(1,3-シクロヘキサジエン、1,4-シクロヘキサジエン等)、シクロオクタジエン(1,5-シクロオクダジエン等)、シクロヘプタトリエン、シクロオクタトリエン、シクロドデカトリエン、ノルボルネン、ノルボルナジエン等のシクロアルケンから誘導される、1価の基である。
シクロアルキニル基は、シクロオクチン等のシクロアルキンから誘導される、1価の基である。
上記(I)を満たす電荷輸送性ポリマーにおいて、カルボニル含有基を有する1価の置換基(C)(以下、置換基(C)という)は、電荷輸送性ポリマーの分子内に、上記置換基(A)とから独立して存在する。本実施形態において、置換基(C)は、一般式「-X-R1」で表される。ここで、式中、Xは、カルボニル含有基を表す。R1は、先に説明した炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基(A)以外の1価の有機基である。例えば、有機基R1は、炭素数1~22個の直鎖又は分岐のアルキル基であってよい。
カルボニル含有基は、少なくともカルボニル(C=O)を含有する2価の連結基を意味する。より具体的には、上記置換基(C)は、一般式「-X-R1」において、Xとして下式(a)~(i)で表される2価の連結基の少なくとも1種を含む1価の置換基(C1)(以下、置換基(C1)という)であることが好ましい。
すなわち、本実施形態において、電荷輸送性ポリマーは、一般式「-X-A」で表される1価の置換基を含む。ここで、式中、Xは、カルボニル含有基を表し、先に示した式(a)~(i)で表される2価の連結基の少なくとも1種を含むことが好ましく、式(c)で表されるエステル結合であることがより好ましい。
また、式中、Aは、炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基を表し、上記実施形態において説明した1価の置換基(A)と同様である。
一実施形態において、カルボニル含有基と脂環式構造とは、直接結合していることが好ましい。すなわち、電荷輸送性ポリマーは、一般式「-X-A1」で表される1価の置換基を含むことが好ましく、式中、A1は、上記(I)を満たす実施形態において上述した1価の置換基(A1)と同様である。式中、A1は、炭素数7~20のシクロアルキル基であることが好ましく、多環構造を有するシクロアルキル基がより好ましい。
一実施形態において、電荷輸送性ポリマーは、上記(I)及び(II)の双方を満たすものであってもよい。
上記(I)又は上記(II)における各置換基は、電荷輸送性ポリマーを構成する末端の構造単位に存在しても、又はその他の構造単位に存在してもよく、その導入位置は特に限定されない。
一実施形態において、上記置換基(A)と上記置換基(C)、又は上記置換基(CA)は、少なくとも、それぞれ電荷輸送性ポリマーを構成する末端の構造単位に存在することが好ましい。一実施形態において、上記置換基(A)及び上記置換基(C)は、それぞれ別の構造単位に存在してもよい。例えば、上記置換基(A)及び上記置換基(C)の一方が電荷輸送性ポリマーを構成する末端の構造単位に存在し、他方がその他の構造単位に存在してもよい。
表面自由エネルギーは、次の式(1)のとおり、Owens-Weldt法に基づき、極性成分と非極性成分の二成分の和として表される表面自由エネルギーである。

したがって、2つの接触角を入れて連立方程式を解くことで、ポリマー膜の表面自由エネルギー(極性成分、非極性成分)を算出することができる。

本発明者らは、電荷輸送性ポリマーの分子内に特定の脂環式構造を導入した場合、有機膜の表面自由エネルギーの非極性成分が高くなることを見出した。これは、例えば、電荷輸送性ポリマーに上記置換基(A)又は置換基(CA)を導入した場合、ポリマーの末端に存在する脂環式構造を有する置換基同士が配向することによって有機膜の結晶性が向上するためと考えられる。
また、極性成分の表面自由エネルギーと、非極性成分の表面自由エネルギーとの和は、42mJ/m2以上であることが好ましく、42.5mJ/m2以上であることがより好ましく、42.6mJ/m2以上であることがさらに好ましい。
一方、一実施形態において、上記極性成分の表面自由エネルギーと、非極性成分の表面自由エネルギーとの和は、50mJ/m2以下であることが好ましく、49mJ/m2以下であることがより好ましく、48mJ/m2以下であることがさらに好ましい。
有機膜を形成するインク材料として使用する電荷輸送性ポリマーに、上記置換基(A)又は上記置換基(CA)として脂環式構造を導入することによって、有機膜の表面自由エネルギーを適切に調整することが容易となる。電荷輸送性ポリマーは、上記置換基(A)又は上記置換基(CA)において、種類の異なる脂環式構造を含んでいてもよい。
一方、上層インクへの耐溶媒性を確保する観点からは、上記割合は、全構造単位を基準として、99.9モル%以下が好ましく、99.5モル%以下がより好ましく、99モル%以下がさらに好ましい。ここで、上記モル%は、例えば、分子内に上記置換基(A)を1つ含むモノマー化合物の場合、ポリマーを構成する各種モノマー化合物の合計量に対する、上記置換基(A)を含有するモノマー化合物の割合から算出される。なお、分子内に上記置換基を2つ含むモノマー化合物の場合、上記割合を2倍にした量となる。
一実施形態において、上記電荷輸送性材料及び該電荷輸送性材料を含むインク組成物は、正孔注入層材料として好適に使用することができる。本実施形態によれば、下層となるITO等の親水性電極に対して優れたぬれ性が得られ、かつ成膜後に得られる有機膜によって、上層を形成する正孔輸送層用インクとの優れたぬれ性を得ることもできる。このことにより、湿式プロセスによる多層化において、均一な膜厚を有する有機膜を形成することが可能となり、さらに各種素子特性の向上が可能となる。
[電荷輸送性ポリマーの構造]
電荷輸送性ポリマーは電荷を輸送する能力を有する1種以上の構造単位を含む。電荷輸送性ポリマーは、直鎖状であっても、又は、分岐構造を有していてもよい。電荷輸送性ポリマーは、電荷輸送性を有する2価の構造単位Lと、末端部を構成する1価の構造単位Tとを少なくとも含むことが好ましく、分岐部を構成する3価以上の構造単位Bをさらに含むことがより好ましい。電荷輸送性ポリマーは、各構造単位を、それぞれ1種のみ含んでいても、又は、それぞれ複数種含んでいてもよい。電荷輸送性ポリマーにおいて、各構造単位は、「1価」~「3価以上」の結合部位において互いに結合している。
構造単位Lは、電荷輸送性を有する2価の構造単位である。構造単位Lは、電荷を輸送する能力を有する原子団を含んでいればよく、特に限定されない。
構造単位Lは、例えば、置換又は非置換の、芳香族アミン構造、カルバゾール構造、チオフェン構造、フルオレン構造、ベンゼン構造、ビフェニル構造、ターフェニル構造、ナフタレン構造、アントラセン構造、テトラセン構造、フェナントレン構造、ジヒドロフェナントレン構造、ピリジン構造、ピラジン構造、キノリン構造、イソキノリン構造、キノキサリン構造、アクリジン構造、ジアザフェナントレン構造、フラン構造、ピロール構造、オキサゾール構造、オキサジアゾール構造、チアゾール構造、チアジアゾール構造、トリアゾール構造、ベンゾチオフェン構造、ベンゾオキサゾール構造、ベンゾオキサジアゾール構造、ベンゾチアゾール構造、ベンゾチアジアゾール構造、及びベンゾトリアゾール構造が挙げられる。なお、構造単位Lは、上記構造を2種以上有してもよい。
他の実施形態において、構造単位Lは、優れた電子輸送性を得る観点から、置換又は非置換の、フルオレン構造、ベンゼン構造、フェナントレン構造、ピリジン構造、キノリン構造を含むことが好ましい。
アリール基は、芳香族炭化水素から水素原子1個を除いた原子団である。ヘテロアリール基は、芳香族複素環から水素原子1個を除いた原子団である。アルキル基は、さらに、炭素数2~20個のアリール基又はヘテロアリール基により置換されていてもよく、アリール基又はヘテロアリール基は、さらに、炭素数1~22個の直鎖、環状又は分岐アルキル基により置換されていてもよい(但し、炭素数7以上の環状アルキル基は除く)。
Rは、水素原子、アルキル基、アリール基、アルキル置換アリール基であることが好ましい。Arは、炭素数2~30個のアリーレン基又はヘテロアリーレン基を表す。アリーレン基は、芳香族炭化水素から水素原子2個を除いた原子団である。ヘテロアリーレン基は、芳香族複素環から水素原子2個を除いた原子団である。Arは、アリーレン基であることが好ましく、フェニレン基であることがより好ましい。
構造単位Bは、電荷輸送性ポリマーが分岐構造を有する場合に、分岐部を構成する3価以上の構造単位である。構造単位Bは、有機エレクトロニクス素子の耐久性向上の観点から、6価以下が好ましく、3価又は4価がより好ましい。
構造単位Bは、電荷輸送性を有する単位であることが好ましい。例えば、構造単位Bは、有機エレクトロニクス素子の耐久性向上の観点から、置換又は非置換の、芳香族アミン構造、カルバゾール構造、及び縮合多環式芳香族炭化水素構造が好ましい。
Arは、それぞれ独立に2価の連結基を表し、それぞれ独立に、炭素数2~30個のアリーレン基又はヘテロアリーレン基を表す。Arは、アリーレン基が好ましく、フェニレン基がより好ましい。
Yは、2価の連結基を表し、例えば、構造単位LにおけるR(ただし、重合性官能基を含む基を除く。)のうち水素原子を1個以上有する基から、さらに1個の水素原子を除いた2価の基が挙げられる。
Zは、炭素原子、ケイ素原子、又はリン原子のいずれかを表す。構造単位中、ベンゼン環及びArは、置換基を有していてもよい。置換基の例としては、構造単位LにおけるRが挙げられる。すなわち、一実施形態において、構造単位中、ベンゼン環及びArは、上述した炭素数が7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基(A)、カルボニル含有基を有する1価の置換基(C)、及び炭素数が7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基とカルボニル含有基とが直接結合してなる式「-X-A」で表される1価の置換基(CA)の少なくとも1種を有してよい。
構造単位Tは、電荷輸送性ポリマーの末端部を構成する1価の構造単位である。構造単位Tは、特に限定されず、例えば、置換又は非置換の、芳香族炭化水素構造、芳香族複素環構造、及び、これらの1種又は2種以上を含む構造から選択される。構造単位Tが構造単位Lと同じ構造を有していてもよい。一実施形態において、構造単位Tは、電荷の輸送性を低下させずに耐久性を付与するという観点から、置換又は非置換の芳香族炭化水素構造であることが好ましく、置換又は非置換のベンゼン構造であることがより好ましい。また、他の実施形態において、後述するように、電荷輸送性ポリマーが末端部に重合性官能基を有する場合、構造単位Tは重合可能な構造(例えば、ピロール-イル基等の重合性官能基)であってもよい。
一実施形態において、置換基(A)、置換基(C)、及び置換基(CA)の少なくとも1つと、重合性官能基とは、それぞれ独立した置換基として存在してよい。すなわち、上記置換基の構造に重合性官能基は含まれない。他の実施形態において、置換基(A)、置換基(C)、及び置換基(CA)は、それぞれ重合性官能基の構造を併せ持っていてもよい。
一実施形態において、重合反応により硬化させ、溶媒への溶解度を変化させる観点から、電荷輸送性ポリマーは、重合性官能基を少なくとも1つ有することが好ましい。「重合性官能基」とは、熱又は光の少なくとも一方を加えることにより、互いに結合を形成し得る官能基をいう。
重合性官能基としては、特に、ビニル基、アクリロイル基、メタクリロイル基、エポキシ基、又はオキセタン基が好ましく、反応性及び有機エレクトロニクス素子の特性の観点から、ビニル基、オキセタン基、又はエポキシ基がより好ましい。
より具体的には、構造単位T1は、先に示した構造(t)において、少なくとも1つのRが、重合性官能基を含まない、上記置換基(A)、上記置換基(C)、及び上記置換基(CA)の少なくとも1つである構造を有する。Rは、重合性官能基を含まない置換基(CA)であることがより好ましい。
一方、構造単位T2は、構造(t)において、少なくとも1つのRが、ビニル基、オキセタン基、及びエポキシ基からなる群から選択される重合性官能基である構造を有する。Rは、オキセタン基であることがより好ましい。
電荷輸送性ポリマーの数平均分子量は、溶媒への溶解性、成膜性等を考慮して適宜、調整できる。数平均分子量は、電荷輸送性に優れるという観点から、500以上が好ましく、1,000以上がより好ましく、2,000以上がさらに好ましい。また、数平均分子量は、溶媒への良好な溶解性を保ち、インク組成物の調製を容易にするという観点から、1,000,000以下が好ましく、100,000以下がより好ましく、50,000以下がさらに好ましい。一実施形態において、電荷輸送性ポリマーの数平均分子量は、5,000~40,000が好ましく、10,000~30,000がより好ましく、14,000~25,000がさらに好ましい。
電荷輸送性ポリマーの重量平均分子量は、溶媒への溶解性、成膜性等を考慮して適宜、調整できる。重量平均分子量は、電荷輸送性に優れるという観点から、1,000以上が好ましく、5,000以上がより好ましく、10,000以上がさらに好ましい。また、重量平均分子量は、溶媒への良好な溶解性を保ち、インク組成物の調製を容易にするという観点から、1,000,000以下が好ましく、700,000以下がより好ましく、400,000以下がさらに好ましい。一実施形態において、電荷輸送性ポリマーの重量平均分子量は、35,000~200,000が好ましく、40,000~100,000がより好ましく、46,000~70,000がさらに好ましい。
電荷輸送性ポリマーに含まれる構造単位Lの割合は、充分な電荷輸送性を得る観点から、全構造単位を基準として、10モル%以上が好ましく、20モル%以上がより好ましく、30モル%以上がさらに好ましい。また、構造単位Lの割合は、構造単位T及び必要に応じて導入される構造単位Bを考慮すると、95モル%以下が好ましく、90モル%以下がより好ましく、85モル%以下がさらに好ましい。
電荷輸送性ポリマーは、種々の合成方法により製造でき、特に限定されない。例えば、鈴木カップリング、根岸カップリング、園頭カップリング、スティルカップリング、ブッフバルト・ハートウィッグカップリング等の公知のカップリング反応を用いることができる。鈴木カップリングは、芳香族ボロン酸誘導体と芳香族ハロゲン化物の間で、Pd触媒を用いたクロスカップリング反応を起こさせるものである。鈴木カップリングによれば、所望とする芳香環同士を結合させることにより、電荷輸送性ポリマーを簡便に製造できる。
電荷輸送性材料は、ドーパントをさらに含有してもよい。ドーパントは、電荷輸送性材料に添加することでドーピング効果を発現させ、電荷の輸送性を向上させ得る化合物であればよく、特に制限はない。ドーピングには、p型ドーピングとn型ドーピングがあり、p型ドーピングでは、ドーパントとして電子受容体として働く物質が用いられ、n型ドーピングでは、ドーパントとして電子供与体として働く物質が用いられる。
正孔輸送性の向上にはp型ドーピング、電子輸送性の向上にはn型ドーピングを行うことが好ましい。電荷輸送性材料に用いられるドーパントは、p型ドーピング又はn型ドーピングのいずれの効果を発現させるドーパントであってもよい。また、1種のドーパントを単独で添加しても、複数種のドーパントを混合して添加してもよい。
また、特開2000-36390号公報、特開2005-75948号公報、特開2003-213002号公報等に記載の電子受容性化合物を用いることも可能である。上記の中でも、ルイス酸、イオン化合物、π共役系化合物等が好ましく、イオン化合物がより好ましく、オニウム塩がさらに好ましい。オニウム塩とは、ヨードニウム及びアンモニウム等のオニウムイオンを含むカチオン部と、対するアニオン部とからなる化合物を意味する。
電荷輸送性材料は、電荷輸送性の低分子化合物、他のポリマー等をさらに含有してもよい。
電荷輸送性ポリマーの含有量は、良好な電荷輸送性を得る観点から、電荷輸送性材料の全質量に対して、50質量%以上が好ましく、70質量%以上がより好ましく、80質量%以上がさらに好ましい。100質量%とすることも可能である。
また、成膜性を良好に保つ観点から、電荷輸送性材料の全質量に対して、50質量%以下が好ましく、30質量%以下がより好ましく、20質量%以下がさらに好ましい。
一実施形態において、インク組成物は、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料と該材料を溶解又は分散し得る溶媒とを含有する。インク組成物を用いることによって、塗布法といった簡便な方法によって有機層を容易に形成できる。
溶媒としては、水、有機溶媒、又はこれらの混合溶媒を使用できる。有機溶媒としては、メタノール、エタノール、イソプロピルアルコール等のアルコール;ペンタン、ヘキサン、オクタン等のアルカン;シクロヘキサン等の環状アルカン;ベンゼン、トルエン、キシレン、メシチレン、テトラリン、ジフェニルメタン等の芳香族炭化水素;エチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、エチレングリコールジエチルエーテル、プロピレングリコール-1-モノメチルエーテルアセタート等の脂肪族エーテル;1,2-ジメトキシベンゼン、1,3-ジメトキシベンゼン、アニソール、フェネトール、2-メトキシトルエン、3-メトキシトルエン、4-メトキシトルエン、2,3-ジメチルアニソール、2,4-ジメチルアニソール等の芳香族エーテル;酢酸エチル、酢酸n-ブチル、乳酸エチル、乳酸n-ブチル等の脂肪族エステル;酢酸フェニル、プロピオン酸フェニル、安息香酸メチル、安息香酸エチル、安息香酸プロピル、安息香酸n-ブチル等の芳香族エステル;N,N-ジメチルホルムアミド、N,N-ジメチルアセトアミド等のアミド系溶媒;ジメチルスルホキシド、テトラヒドロフラン、アセトン、クロロホルム、塩化メチレンなどが挙げられる。上記の中でも、芳香族炭化水素、脂肪族エステル、芳香族エステル、脂肪族エーテル、又は芳香族エーテルが好ましい。一実施形態において、正孔注入層を形成するためのインク組成物を構成する溶媒は、芳香族炭化水素が好ましく、中でもトルエンがより好ましい。
電荷輸送性ポリマーが重合性官能基を有する場合、インク組成物は、重合開始剤を含有することが好ましい。重合開始剤として、公知のラジカル重合開始剤、カチオン重合開始剤、アニオン重合開始剤等を使用できる。インク組成物を簡便に調製できる観点から、ドーパントとしての機能と重合開始剤としての機能とを兼ねる物質を用いることが好ましい。そのような物質として、例えば、上記イオン化合物を使用することができる。一実施形態において、先に説明したオニウム塩を好適に使用することができる。具体例として、パーフルオロアニオンと、ヨードニウムイオン又はアンモニウムイオン等のカチオンとの塩が挙げられる。
インク組成物は、さらに、任意成分として添加剤を含有してもよい。添加剤としては、重合禁止剤、安定剤、増粘剤、ゲル化剤、難燃剤、酸化防止剤、還元防止剤、酸化剤、還元剤、表面改質剤、乳化剤、消泡剤、分散剤、界面活性剤等が挙げられる。
インク組成物における溶媒の含有量は、種々の塗布方法へ適用することを考慮して定めることができる。例えば、溶媒の含有量は、溶媒に対する電荷輸送性ポリマーの割合が、0.1質量%以上であることが好ましく、0.2質量%以上であることがより好ましく、0.5質量%以上であることがさらに好ましい。
また、溶媒の含有量は、溶媒に対する電荷輸送性ポリマーの割合が、20質量%以下であることが好ましく、15質量%以下であることがより好ましく、10質量%以下であることがさらに好ましい。
一実施形態において、有機層は、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料又はインク組成物を用いて形成された層である。インク組成物を用いることによって、塗布法により有機層を良好に形成できる。塗布方法としては、例えば、スピンコーティング法;キャスト法;浸漬法;凸版印刷、凹版印刷、オフセット印刷、平版印刷、凸版反転オフセット印刷、スクリーン印刷、グラビア印刷等の有版印刷法;インクジェット法等の無版印刷法などの公知の方法が挙げられる。塗布法によって有機層を形成する場合、塗布後に得られた有機層(塗布層)を、ホットプレート又はオーブンを用いて乾燥させ、溶媒を除去してもよい。
また、有機層の厚さは、電気抵抗を小さくする観点から、300nm以下が好ましく、200nm以下がより好ましく、100nm以下がさらに好ましい。
一実施形態において、有機エレクトロニクス素子は、少なくとも上記実施形態の有機層を有する。有機エレクトロニクス素子として、有機EL素子、有機光電変換素子、有機トランジスタ等が挙げられる。有機エレクトロニクス素子は、少なくとも一対の電極の間に有機層が配置された構造を有することが好ましい。
一実施形態において、有機EL素子は、少なくとも上記実施形態の有機層を有する。有機EL素子は、通常、発光層、陽極、陰極、及び基板を備えており、必要に応じて、正孔注入層、電子注入層、正孔輸送層、電子輸送層等の他の機能層を備えている。各層は、蒸着法により形成してもよく、塗布法により形成してもよい。有機EL素子は、有機層を発光層又は他の機能層として有することが好ましく、機能層として有することがより好ましく、正孔注入層及び正孔輸送層の少なくとも一方として有することがさらに好ましい。
発光層に用いる材料としては、低分子化合物、ポリマー、デンドリマー等の発光材料を使用できる。溶媒への溶解性が高く、塗布法に適しているため、ポリマーが好ましい。発光材料としては、蛍光材料、燐光材料、熱活性化遅延蛍光材料(TADF)等が挙げられる。
Ir錯体としては、青色発光を行うFIr(pic)(イリジウム(III)ビス[(4,6-ジフルオロフェニル)-ピリジネート-N,C2]ピコリネート)、緑色発光を行うIr(ppy)3(ファクトリス(2-フェニルピリジン)イリジウム)、赤色発光を行う(btp)2Ir(acac)(ビス〔2-(2’-ベンゾ[4,5-α]チエニル)ピリジナート-N,C3〕イリジウム(アセチル-アセトネート))、Ir(piq)3(トリス(1-フェニルイソキノリン)イリジウム)等が挙げられる。
Pt錯体としては、赤色発光を行うPtOEP(2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-オクタエチル-21H,23H-ポルフィリン白金)等が挙げられる。
ポリマーとしては、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料、ポリビニルカルバゾール、ポリフェニレン、ポリフルオレン、これらの誘導体等が挙げられる。
上記電荷輸送性材料を用いて形成された有機層を、正孔注入層及び正孔輸送層の少なくとも一方として使用することが好ましく、少なくとも正孔注入層として使用することがより好ましい。有機EL素子が、上記電荷輸送性材料を用いて形成された有機層を正孔注入層として有し、さらに正孔輸送層を有する場合、正孔輸送層には公知の材料を使用できる。また、有機EL素子が、上記電荷輸送性材料を用いて形成された有機層を正孔輸送層として有し、さらに正孔注入層を有する場合、正孔注入層には公知の材料を使用できる。
特に限定するものではないが、正孔注入層の材料が重合開始剤を含み、かつ正孔輸送層の材料が電荷輸送性ポリマーとして、重合性官能基を有する分岐ポリマーを含む実施形態では、正孔輸送層を良好に硬化させることが可能である。
また、硬化後の有機膜からなる正孔輸送層に、上層インクを塗布することによって有機膜をさらに積層し、発光層等の他の層を形成することも可能となる。
電子輸送層及び電子注入層に用いる材料としては、フェナントロリン誘導体、ビピリジン誘導体、ニトロ置換フルオレン誘導体、ジフェニルキノン誘導体、チオピランジオキシド誘導体、ナフタレン、ペリレン等の縮合環テトラカルボン酸無水物、カルボジイミド、フルオレニリデンメタン誘導体、アントラキノジメタン及びアントロン誘導体、オキサジアゾール誘導体、チアジアゾール誘導体、ベンゾイミダゾール誘導体、キノキサリン誘導体、アルミニウム錯体などが挙げられる。また、上記実施形態の電荷輸送性材料も使用できる。
陰極材料としては、Li、Ca、Mg、Al、In、Cs、Ba、Mg/Ag、LiF、CsF等の金属又は金属合金が用いられる。
陽極材料としては、金属(例えば、Au)又は導電性を有する他の材料が用いられる。他の材料として、酸化物(例えば、ITO:酸化インジウム/酸化錫)、導電性高分子(例えば、ポリチオフェン-ポリスチレンスルホン酸混合物(PEDOT:PSS))が挙げられる。
基板としては、ガラス、プラスチック等を使用できる。基板は、透明であることが好ましい。また、フレキシブル性を有するフレキシブル基板が好ましい。具体的には、石英ガラス、光透過性の樹脂フィルム等が好ましい。
有機EL素子の発光色は特に限定されない。白色の有機EL素子は、家庭用照明、車内照明、時計又は液晶のバックライト等の各種照明器具に用いることができるため、好ましい。
一実施形態において、表示素子は、上記実施形態の有機EL素子を備えている。
例えば、赤、緑及び青(RGB)の各画素に対応する素子として、有機EL素子を用いることで、カラーの表示素子が得られる。画像の形成方法には、マトリックス状に配置した電極でパネルに配列された個々の有機EL素子を直接駆動する単純マトリックス型と、各素子に薄膜トランジスタを配置して駆動するアクティブマトリックス型とがある。
以下、実施例により本発明をさらに具体的に説明するが、本発明は以下の実施例に限定されるものではない。
<Pd触媒の調製>
窒素雰囲気下のグローブボックス中で、室温下、サンプル管にトリス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)ジパラジウム(Pd2(dba)3、73.2mg、80μmol)を秤取り、トルエン(16mL)を加え、30分間撹拌した。同様に、サンプル管にトリス(t-ブチル)ホスフィン(129.6mg、640μmol)を秤取り、トルエン(4mL)を加え、5分間撹拌した。これらの溶液を混合し室温で30分間撹拌し触媒とした。全ての溶媒は30分以上、窒素バブルにより脱気した後、使用した。
三口丸底フラスコに、下記モノマーT1(4.0mmol)、下記モノマーL1(5.0mmol)、下記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、メチルトリ-n-オクチルアンモニウムクロリド(Alfa Aesar社製「アリコート336」)(0.03g)、水酸化カリウム(1.12g)、純水(5.54mL)、及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、先に調製したPd触媒トルエン溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。この混合物を2時間、加熱還流した。なお、ここまでの全ての操作は窒素気流下で行った。また、全ての溶媒は30分以上、窒素バブルにより脱気した後に使用した。

三口丸底フラスコに、上記モノマーL1(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、上記モノマーT1(1.0mmol)、下記モノマーT2(3.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー2の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー2の数平均分子量は14,800であり、重量平均分子量は46,200であった。
三口丸底フラスコに、上記モノマーL1(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、上記モノマーT1(1.0mmol)、下記モノマーT3(3.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー3の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー3の数平均分子量は24,700であり、重量平均分子量は49,100であった。
三口丸底フラスコに、下記モノマーL2(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、上記モノマーT1(1.0mmol)、上記モノマーT2(3.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー4の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー4の数平均分子量は19,300であり、重量平均分子量は68,700であった。
三口丸底フラスコに、上記モノマーL1(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、上記モノマーT1(1.0mmol)、下記モノマーT4(3.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー5の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー5の数平均分子量は14,400であり、重量平均分子量は46,400であった。
三口丸底フラスコに、下記モノマーL3(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、上記モノマーT1(4.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー6の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー6の数平均分子量は21,100であり、重量平均分子量は53,200であった。
三口丸底フラスコに、上記モノマーL2(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、下記モノマーT5(4.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー7の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー7の数平均分子量は17,000であり、重量平均分子量は32,000であった。
三口丸底フラスコに、上記モノマーL1(5.0mmol)、上記モノマーB1(2.0mmol)、下記モノマーT6(4.0mmol)及びトルエン(50mL)を加え、さらに、先に調製したPd触媒溶液(1.0mL)を加えた。以降、電荷輸送性ポリマー1の合成と同様にして、電荷輸送性ポリマー8の合成を行った。得られた電荷輸送性ポリマー8の数平均分子量は22,200であり、重量平均分子量は61,100であった。
(実施例1~3、及び比較例1~5)
先に調製した電荷輸送性ポリマー1~8を用い、以下に記載する各種評価を行った。
<ITO基板への成膜性評価>
表2に示すように、先に調製した電荷輸送性ポリマー1~8を用い、各ポリマー10mgを1.094mLのトルエンに溶解し、ポリマー溶液を得た。また、下記イオン化合物1(1.0mg)をトルエン500μLに溶解し、イオン化合物溶液を得た。得られたポリマー溶液と、イオン化合物溶液51μLとを混合し、各インク組成物を調製した。
一般に、下層に対するインクのぬれ性が低い場合、塗布時に下層表面でインクが充分に広がらず、塗布後に得られる有機膜は凹凸形状を有することになる。したがって、下層に対するインクのぬれ性が低い場合、面内で均一な厚さを有する有機膜を形成することは困難である。厚さが不均一である有機膜は、表面で光が散乱するため、透明性が低下する。このような観点から、有機膜の透明性を観察し、以下の基準に従い成膜性(ぬれ性)を評価した。
評価基準:
成膜性A:有機膜に濁りが見られず透明である。
成膜性B:有機膜に濁りが見られる。
表2に示すように、先に調製した電荷輸送性ポリマー1~8を用い、各ポリマー10mgを1.094mLのトルエンに溶解し、ポリマー溶液を得た。また、上記イオン化合物1(1.0mg)をトルエン500μLに溶解し、イオン化合物溶液を得た。
得られたポリマー溶液と、イオン化合物溶液(51μL)とを混合し、塗布溶液(インク組成物)を調製した。インク組成物を、室温(25℃)で石英ガラス基板上に滴下し、3000rpmで60秒間スピンコートし、有機膜を形成した。次いで、ホットプレート上で、石英ガラス基板を210℃で、30分間にわたって加熱し、有機膜を硬化させた。
その後、石英ガラス基板をピンセットで掴んで、トルエン(25℃)を満たした200mLビーカーに浸漬し、石英ガラス基板を、石英ガラス基板の厚み方向に10秒間に10往復振動させた。浸漬前後の有機膜のUV-visスペクトルにおける吸収極大(λmax)の吸光度(Abs)の比から、以下の式1に従い、有機膜(硬化膜)の残膜率を求めた。

先に調製した電荷輸送性ポリマー1~8を用い、各ポリマー10mgを1.094mLのトルエンに溶解し、ポリマー溶液を得た。また、上記イオン化合物1(1.0mg)をトルエン500μLに溶解し、イオン化合物溶液を得た。
得られたポリマー溶液とイオン化合物溶液(51μL)とを混合し、塗布溶液(インク組成物)を調製した。インク組成物を、室温(25℃)で石英ガラス基板上に滴下し、3000rpmで60秒間スピンコートし、有機膜を形成した。次いで、ホットプレート上で、石英ガラス基板を210℃で、30分間にわたって加熱し、有機膜を硬化させた。
得られた各有機膜に、室温環境下で、ディスペンサーを用いて、純水、およびジヨウドメタンの液滴を形成した。3個の液滴を形成し、これを真横からCCDカメラで画像を取得し、接触角を測定し、平均値を求めた。
得られた値を所定の式(先に説明した式(5)及び式(6))に代入し、各有機膜の表面自由エネルギーの極性成分(mJ/m2)と非極性成分(mJ/m2)を計算した。これらの測定結果を表2に示す。
残膜率測定時と同様の方法を用いITO基板上に第1の有機膜(正孔注入層)を形成した。次に、正孔輸送層材料として、10mgの電荷輸送性ポリマー8を、1.094mLのトルエンに溶解したポリマー溶液(インク)を得た。上記インクを、第1の有機膜の上にそれぞれ滴下し、3000rpmで60秒間にわたってスピンコートを行い、120℃で、10分間にわたって加熱することによって、膜厚40nmの第2の有機膜(正孔輸送層)を積層した。
評価基準:
成膜性A:有機膜に濁りが見られず透明である
成膜性B:有機膜に濁りが見られる。
また、得られた有機膜の表面自由エネルギー(和)はいずれも42mJ/m2以上であり、非極性成分は41mJ/m2以上であることから、上層インクとのぬれ性を向上させることが可能となる。さらに、上記インク組成物から得られる有機膜の残膜率が高いことから、有機膜は耐溶媒性に優れ、湿式プロセスによる多層化が容易となる。実際に、有機膜に対し正孔輸送層材料のインクを塗布し上層を形成したところ、良好に多層化を行うことができ、表2に示されるように、成膜性に優れる結果となった。
これに対し、炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する置換基と、カルボニル含有基を含む置換基との組合せを持たない電荷輸送性ポリマー(比較例1~5)では、ITO基板へのぬれ性と、上層インクとのぬれ性との双方を改善することは困難であった。より具体的には、比較例1~3では、ITO基板への成膜性は良好であったが、得られた有機膜の表面自由エネルギー(和)がいずれも42mJ/m2以下であり、上層の成膜性に劣る結果となった。また、比較例4及び5では、下層のITO基板に対する成膜性、及び上層の成膜性の双方において劣る結果となった。

Claims (17)
- 電荷輸送性ポリマーを含有する電荷輸送性材料であって、前記電荷輸送性ポリマーが、以下(I)又は(II)の少なくとも1つを満たす、電荷輸送性材料。
(I)炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基、及びカルボニル含有基を有する1価の置換基を互いに独立して有する。
(II)炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基とカルボニル含有基とが直接結合してなる1価の置換基を有する。 - 前記(I)及び前記(II)において、前記1価の置換基の各々が、前記電荷輸送性ポリマーの少なくとも1つの末端に存在する、請求項1に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 前記(I)及び前記(II)において、前記炭素数7以上の脂環式構造を有する1価の置換基の各々が、炭素数7~20のシクロアルキル基である、請求項1又は2に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 前記電荷輸送性ポリマーが、前記(II)を満たす、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 前記電荷輸送性ポリマーが、電荷輸送性を有する2価の構造単位と、電荷輸送性を有する3価以上の構造単位とを含有する、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 前記電荷輸送性ポリマーが、芳香族アミン構造、カルバゾール構造、チオフェン構造、フルオレン構造、ベンゼン構造、及びピロール構造からなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含む構造単位を有する、請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 前記電荷輸送性ポリマーが、少なくとも1つの重合性官能基を有する、請求項1~7のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 正孔注入層材料として使用される、請求項1~8のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料。
- 請求項1~9のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料と、溶媒とを含む、インク組成物。
- 請求項1~9のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料、又は請求項10に記載のインク組成物を用いて形成された有機膜を有する、有機エレクトロニクス素子。
- 請求項1~9のいずれか1項に記載の電荷輸送性材料、又は請求項10に記載のインク組成物を用いて形成された有機膜を有する、有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子。
- フレキシブル基板をさらに有する、請求項12に記載の有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子。
- 前記フレキシブル基板が樹脂フィルムを含む、請求項13に記載の有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子。
- 請求項12~14のいずれか1項に記載の有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子を備えた表示素子。
- 請求項12~14のいずれか1項に記載の有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子を備えた照明装置。
- 請求項16に記載の照明装置と、表示手段として液晶素子とを備えた表示装置。
