さらに、ゴム製品は、その用途に応じて、優れた耐熱性と力学的特性を兼ね備えることが要求されている。
また、環状ポリスルフィド含む添加剤は、分子量が比較的小さいことから臭気が問題になるおそれがある。さらに、例えば、特許文献2に開示される、環状ポリスルフィドを含む添加剤の製造工程においては、塩が多量に副生するため、製造した添加剤にも塩が混入し、ゴムとしての機械的特性が劣るおそれがある。

本発明のゴム用添加剤は、スルフィド組成物を含むゴム用添加剤であって、
前記スルフィド組成物は、繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物を含み、
前記繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物において、繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して、X=2である繰り返し単位(1)の量が45モル部以上であり、
前記スルフィド化合物における繰り返し単位(1)の数nが1~400である、ゴム用添加剤:
で示される繰り返し単位を有してもよく、当該スルフィド化合物において、繰返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して、繰返し単位(2)の量は、例えば、15モル部以下、好ましくは10モル部以下、より好ましくは7モル部以下であり、また、好ましくは0モル部以上、より好ましくは3モル部以上であり得る。
また、本発明にかかるスルフィド組成物に含まれるスルフィド化合物の量の合計を100質量%とした場合、繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物の量は、前記スルフィド組成物中、例えば5質量%以上、25質量%以上、50質量%以上、75質量%以上および90質量%以上であってよい。
式(1)および/または式(2)で示される繰り返し単位を有するスルフィド化合物の含有量が上記の範囲内にあれば、本発明のゴム用添加剤を配合した効果が十分に発揮され、配合量に見合った効果の向上がみられるので経済的に有利である。
このような範囲で、式(1)および/または式(2)で示される繰り返し単位を有するスルフィド化合物が含まれることにより、本発明のゴム用添加剤は、優れた機械的特性、例えば、引張応力、切断時伸び、圧縮永久歪などを付与し、優れた物理的特性、例えば、耐熱性、ヒステリシスロスの低減、耐寒性、耐老化性、耐オゾン性などを付与し、優れた電気特性、耐油性および耐薬品性を付与し得る。
X=2である繰り返し単位(1)の量が45モル部以上であることにより、優れた耐老化性および耐熱性を付与できるゴム用添加剤が得られる。また、X=2である繰り返し単位(1)の量がこのような範囲にあるので、本発明のゴム用添加剤は、優れた機械的特性、例えば、引張応力、切断時伸び、圧縮永久歪などを付与し、優れた物理的特性、例えば、耐熱性、耐寒性、耐老化性、耐オゾン性などを付与し、優れた電気特性、耐油性および耐薬品性を付与し得る。
さらに好ましくは、繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物に含まれる繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して、繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物におけるX=1である繰り返し単位(1)の量は1モル部~20モル部であり、X=2である繰り返し単位(1)の量は55モル部~95モル部である。
また、本発明のゴム用添加剤は、単独で使用しても、優れた耐熱性、耐老化性および機械的特性を付与できるので、他の添加剤を併用してもしなくてもよい。
式(1)および/または式(2)で示される繰り返し単位を有する化合物を含むスルフィド組成物を含むゴム用添加剤は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、0.5~20質量部の量でゴム組成物に含まれることが好ましく、より好ましくは1~15質量部、更に好ましくは1~10質量部の量でゴム組成物に含まれる。ゴム用添加剤の添加量は、用いる天然ゴムおよび/または合成ゴムの種類、および要求される物性に応じて、適宜選択できる。
式(1)および/または式(2)で示される繰り返し単位を有する化合物を含むスルフィド組成物を含むゴム用添加剤の含有量が上記の範囲内にあれば、ゴム組成物、ゴム製品等に対して、より良好に、耐熱性、耐老化性および機械的特性を付与できる。
ゴム成分としては、天然ゴムおよび/または合成ゴムが好ましい。合成ゴムは、好ましくはジエン系合成ゴムである。ジエン系合成ゴムとしては、例えばポリイソプレン合成ゴム(IR)、ポリブタジエンゴム(BR)、スチレン-ブタジエン共重合体ゴム(SBR)、アクリロニトリル-ブタジエン共重合体ゴム(NBR)、クロロプレンゴム(CR)、ブチルゴム(IIR)などが挙げられる。このゴム成分の天然ゴムやジエン系合成ゴムは単独で用いてもよく、二種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
本発明のゴム組成物は、上記の式(1)および/または式(2)で示される繰り返し単位を有する化合物を含むスルフィド組成物を含むゴム用添加剤と、天然ゴムおよび/または合成ゴムとを含み、さらに、公知の更なる添加剤および/または充填材を含むことができる。
本発明のゴム組成物は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、更なる添加剤および/または充填材を合計で好ましくは10~160質量部を含み得る。更なる添加剤および/または充填材は単独で用いてもよく、組合せて用いてもよい。更なる添加剤および/または充填材の組合せにおける混合比は限定されない。
カーボンブラックは、力学的性能を高め、加工性等を改善させるものであり、I2吸着量、CTAB比表面積、N2吸着量、DBP吸着量等の範囲を適宜選択した公知のカーボンブラックを使用することができる。カーボンブラックの種類としては、例えば、SAF、ISAF、ISAF-LS、HAF、HAF-HS、HAF-LS等の公知のものを適宜選択して使用することができる。耐摩耗性を考慮すると、微粒子径のISAF、SAF、HAFが好ましい。
充填材は、例えば、シリカを単独で用いてもよく、カーボンブラックとシリカとを組み合わせて用いてもよい。この場合、カーボンブラックとシリカの混合比[カーボンブラック]/[シリカ]は、質量比で0.04~6.0が好ましく、0.1~3.0がより好ましく、0.1~1.0が更に好ましい。
以下の概略に記載した工程を経て、ポリ(4-オキサ-1,7,8-ポリチアオクタメチレン)を合成した。
より詳細には、100mLの四つ口フラスコに、一塩化硫黄80gと鉄粉0.02gを入れ、さらに、塩素ガス43gを吹き込んだ。その後、鉄粉を除去することで二塩化硫黄118gを得た。
合成例1において、塩素ガスの量を37gにした以外は、合成例1と同様にして、スルフィド化合物を得た。
このようにして得られたスルフィド化合物中の各繰り返し単位の量は、繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物における繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して、ジスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=1)が6モル部、トリスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=2)が64モル部、テトラスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=3)が30モル部であった。なお、各繰り返し単位の量は1H-NMRにより確認した。
合成例1において、塩素ガスの量を31gにした以外は、合成例1と同様にして、スルフィド化合物を得た。
このようにして得られたスルフィド化合物中の各繰り返し単位の量は、繰り返し単位(1)を有するスルフィド化合物における繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して、ジスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=1)が5モル部、トリスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=2)が55モル部、テトラスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=3)が40モル部であった。なお、各繰り返し単位の量は1H-NMRにより確認した。
1000mLの四つ口フラスコに、ビス(2-メルカプトエチル)エーテル150g(1.1モル)とモノクロロベンゼン370gを加え、液温を20℃に冷却した。次いで、一塩化硫黄147gを、液温を20℃に保ちながら、前記ビス(2-メルカプトエチル)エーテルとモノクロロベンゼンの混合物に、4時間かけて滴下した。得られた反応液の溶媒を、減圧留去により除去し、スルフィド化合物を得た。なお、各繰り返し単位の量は1H-NMRにより確認した。得られたスルフィド化合物中の各スルフィドの比率は、繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して、ジスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=1)が2モル部、トリスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=2)が23モル部、テトラスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=3)が75モル部であった。なお、各繰り返し単位の量は1H-NMRにより確認した。
合成例1において、塩素ガスの量を25gにした以外は、合成例1と同様にして、スルフィド化合物を得た。
このようにして得られたスルフィド化合物中の各繰り返し単位の量は、式(1)で示されるスルフィド化合物におけるX=1、2または3である各繰り返し単位の量の合計100モル部に対して、ジスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=1)が4モル部、トリスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=2)が45モル部、テトラスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=3)が51モル部であった。さらに式(2)で示されるスルフィド化合物におけるY=0および4以上である各繰り返し単位の量は、繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して5モル部含んでいた。なお、各繰り返し単位の量は1H-NMRにより確認した。
合成例1において、トルエンの量を200gにした以外は、合成例1と同様にして、スルフィド化合物を得た。
このようにして得られたスルフィド化合物中の各繰り返し単位の量は、式(1)で示されるスルフィド化合物におけるX=1、2または3である各繰り返し単位の量の合計100モル部に対して、ジスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=1)が5モル部、トリスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=2)が75モル部、テトラスルフィド(式(1)におけるX=3)が20モル部であった。さらに式(2)で示されるスルフィド化合物におけるY=0および4以上の繰り返し単位は、繰り返し単位(1)の量の合計100モル部に対して10モル部含んでいた。なお、各繰り返し単位の量は1H-NMRにより確認した。
サンプルの調製
上記合成例1~6で得られたスルフィド化合物を、ゴム用添加剤として用いた。また、各サンプルにおけるゴム組成物の配合割合は、表1~表2に示したとおりである。なお、表1および表3に示したNRは天然ゴムを示し、表2に示したSBRは合成ゴムを示す。また、表1のNR1は、JIS K 6352-2005に従った配合、表2記載のSBRは、JIS K 6383-2001に従った配合である。
なお、表中、「TBBS」は、N-(tert-ブチル)-2-ベンゾチアゾールスルフェンアミド、「MBTS」は、ジ-2-ベンゾチアゾリルジスルフィド、「DBATD」は、2-(ジブチルアミノ)-1,3,5-トリアジン-4,6-ジチオールの略号である。
なお、比較例として、ゴム用添加剤として合成例で得られたスルフィド化合物(加硫剤)に代えて硫黄を添加したサンプルも作製した。
加硫試験機による加硫特性の試験方法は、JIS K 6300-2-2001に従って測定した。より詳細には、得られたゴム組成物をJIS K 6300-2-2001に準拠し、レオメータとしてロータレス加硫試験機を使用し、所定の試験温度において、得られるトルクを縦軸、加硫時間を横軸にした加硫曲線を測定した。なお、天然ゴム(NR)を含む組成物について、試験温度を160℃とした。
加硫ゴムの100%引張応力試験、および切断時伸び試験は、JIS K 6251-1993に従って測定した。
各サンプルに関する測定結果を表4、5および6に示す。
各サンプルの老化試験方法は、JIS K 6257-1993に従って測定した。例えば、天然ゴム(NR)を含むサンプルの熱老化は、70℃の環境下で、72時間かけて行った。一方、合成ゴム(SBR)を含むサンプルの熱老化は、100℃の環境下で、72時間かけて行った。
ここで、表中に記載された「変化率(%)」は、100%引張応力を例にすると、
[(老化後の100%引張応力-老化前の100%引張応力)/老化前の100%引張応力]×100
から算出できる。
上記と同様に切断時伸び試験における「変化率(%)」も算出できる。
