Description
本発明における変性セルロースナノファイバーは、各種セルロースを微細化する事で得られ、樹脂に含有させることで樹脂の破壊靭性地などを強化できる樹脂強化剤として使用することができる。本発明におけるセルロースは、微細化材料として利用可能なものであればよく、パルプ、綿、紙、レーヨン・キュプラ・ポリノジック・アセテートなどの再生セルロース繊維、バクテリア産生セルロース、ホヤなどの動物由来セルロースなどが利用可能である。
また、これらのセルロースは必要に応じて表面を化学修飾処理をしたものであってもよい。
本発明における変性セルロースナノファイバーは、水酸基を有するセルロースに無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂を反応させて変性セルロースを得る工程と、得られた変性セルロースを微細化処理する工程とを同一工程で行うことにより製造することが可能である。これは、無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂中にセルロースを添加し、機械的に箭断力を与えることにより行うことができる。箭断力を与える手段としては、ビーズミル、超音波ホモジナイザー、一軸押出機、二軸押出機等の押出機、バンバリーミキサー、グラインダー、加圧ニーダー、2本ロール等の公知の混練機等を用い剪断力を与えることができる。これらの中でも高粘度の樹脂中でも安定した剪断力を得られる観点から加圧ニーダーを用いることが好ましい。
本発明における無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂とは、カルボキシル基が分子内で脱水縮合し環状構造を形成した環状無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂であり、本発明の効果を損ねない範囲であれば公知慣用の樹脂を用いることができるが、好ましくはビニル樹脂が挙げられる。
フマル酸ジエステル誘導体の例としては、フマル酸ジメチル、フマル酸ジエチル、およびフマル酸ジブチルなどが挙げられる。
イタコン酸ジエステル誘導体の例としては、イタコン酸ジメチル、イタコン酸ジエチル、およびイタコン酸ジブチルなどが挙げられる。
本発明におけるビニル樹脂は、官能基を有しても構わないが、合成時または脱水縮合時にカルボキシル基と反応してしまう水酸基、アミノ基は好ましくない。
本発明で使用するビニル樹脂の重量平均分子量は、変性セルロースナノファイバーの溶剤への良好な分散性の観点からは1000以上が好ましく、セルロースの微細化の観点からは6000以下が好ましい。
本発明において、無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂とセルロースの比率は任意に変更が可能である。微細化後にさらに硬化剤及び又は希釈用樹脂と混合する場合には、予め無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂中のセルロース濃度がある程度高いほうがより樹脂の強化の効果があげられる。一方で、無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂の比率が少なすぎると十分なセルロースの微細化効果を得ることができないだけでなく、セルロースナノファイバーの変性も十分に行われない。セルロースと無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂との組成物中のセルロースの比率は10質量%-90質量%、好ましくは30質量%-80質量%、より好ましくは40質量%-70質量%となる事である。
前記変性セルロースナノファイバーを回収する場合、未反応の無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂はそのままでも良いし、必要に応じて洗浄除去しても良い。洗浄に用いる溶媒としては、アセトン、メチルエチルケトン等のケトン系溶媒;メタノール、エタノール系のアルコール系溶媒;酢酸エチル等のエステル系溶媒;NMP、DMF、DMAC等の非プロトン性溶媒が挙げられる。これらの中で、溶媒の除去が容易であり、変性セルロースナノファイバーを良好に分散させることができるという点から、アセトン、メチルエチルケトン、酢酸エチル等が好ましい。
本発明における樹脂組成物は、各種用途に好適に利用できる。例えば、自動車部品、航空機部品、電子・電気部品、建築材料、容器・包装部材、生活用品、スポーツ・レジャー用品等が挙げられるが、これらに限定される物ではない。
(合成例1)ビニル樹脂(1)の製造
3Lステンレスセパラブルフラスコにメチルエチルケトン950gを計量。窒素通気下、250rpmにて攪拌しながら75℃に加温した。次に1Lステンレス容器にブチルアクリレート700g、スチレン100g、無水マレイン酸100gを計量しガラス棒にて攪拌して得たモノマー混合液を1L滴下ロートに移した。またメチルエチルケトン50g、2,2´-アゾビス(2-メチルブチロニトリル)(和光純薬工業(株)社製「V-59」0.2g、チオグリコール酸100gを計量しガラス棒にてよく攪拌して得た開始剤混合液を300mLの滴下ロートに移した。上記モノマー混合液および開始剤混合液をそれぞれ75℃に加温したメチルエチルケトン中に4時間かけて滴下した。
滴下終了後溶液を20時間75℃に保持し、重合した。重合したビニル樹脂を脱溶剤しビニル樹脂(1)とした。ビニル樹脂(1)を1g計量し、トルエン/メタノール混合液(7/3重量比)を5g加えて攪拌し、120℃の乾燥機に1時間入れ、含有する有機溶媒を除去した。有機溶媒除去後の重量からビニル樹脂(1)の固形分を計算した。固形分は87%であった。またビニル樹脂(1)の重量平均分子量は1900であった。
温度計、撹拌機および還流冷却器を備えた四ツ口フラスコに、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート(MPA)を3000部仕込んで撹拌しながら130℃に昇温した。次に、メタクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル(2EHMA)750部、メタクリル酸2-ヒドロキシエチル(HEMA)200部、メタクリル酸(MAA)50部からなる混合溶液と、「パーブチルO(登録商標)(日油株式会社製)」150部からなる混合溶液を、それぞれ5時間かけて滴下した。滴下終了後130℃で12時間反応した後、70℃で減圧脱溶剤することで、ビニル樹脂(2)の90%固形分溶液を得た。得られたビニル樹脂(2)の重量平均分子量は1800であった。
3Lステンレスセパラブルフラスコにメチルエチルケトン950gを計量。窒素通気下、250rpmにて攪拌しながら75℃に加温した。次に1Lステンレス容器にブチルアクリレート800g、スチレン100g、無水マレイン酸100gを計量しガラス棒にて攪拌した。その後メチルエチルケトン50g、「パーブチルO(登録商標)(日油株式会社製)」60gを加えガラス棒にてよく攪拌し、混合した。この混合溶液を1L滴下ロートに移し、75℃に加温したメチルエチルケトン中に4時間かけて滴下した。滴下終了後溶液を12時間75℃に保持し、重合した。重合したビニル樹脂をビニル樹脂(3)とした。ビニル樹脂(3)を1g計量し、トルエン/メタノール混合液(7/3重量比)を5g加えて攪拌し、120℃の乾燥機に1時間入れ、含有する有機溶媒を除去した。有機溶媒除去後の重量からビニル樹脂(3)の固形分を計算した。固形分は42%であった。またビニル樹脂(3)の重量平均分子量は35000であった。
樹脂をテトラヒドロフラン(THF)によって50倍希釈して得られた希釈液をフィルター(材質:ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、ポア径:0.2μm)で濾過することにより、測定サンプルを調製し、次に、この測定サンプルをゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフ(GPC東ソー社製商品名「HLC-8220GPC」)に供給して、サンプル流量1ミリリットル/min、カラム温度40℃の条件で測定を行い、樹脂のポリスチレン換算分子量を測定した値を、重量平均分子量とした。なお、上記GPC測定において、カラムとして、HXL-X、G5000HXL、G3000HXL、G2000HXL、G2000HXL(いずれも東ソー株式会社製)を用い、検出器として示差屈折計を用いた。
(実施例1)
(合成例1)で作製したビニル樹脂(1)150gと日本製紙ケミカル社製のセルロースパウダー製品「KCフロック(登録商標) W100G」150gを、株式会社モリヤマ製加圧ニーダー(DRV0.3GB-E型)を用いて60rpmで180分間加圧混練を行いセルロースの微細化および変性処理を同一工程で行うことで、変性セルロースナノファイバー(以下CNFと略す)(1)を得た。得られた樹脂と変性CNFの混練物であるマスタバッチを0.1%の濃度となるようにアセトンに懸濁し、特殊機械工業(株)製TKホモミキサーA型を用いて15000rpm20分間分散処理を行い、ガラス上に広げてアセトンを乾燥し、走査型電子顕微鏡にてセルロースの微細化状態を確認した。繊維の短軸方向の長さが100nmより細かく解れているセルロースが存在したことから、セルロースの微細化が良好であることが分かった。
〔セルロースナノファイバー製造方法〕
(合成例2)で作製したビニル樹脂(2)150gと日本製紙ケミカル社製のセルロースパウダー製品「KCフロック(登録商標) W100G」150gを、株式会社モリヤマ製加圧ニーダー(DRV0.3GB-E型)を用いて60rpmで180分間加圧混練を行いセルロースの微細化し未変性CNF(1)を得た。得られた樹脂とCNFの混練物であるマスタバッチを0.1%の濃度となるようにアセトンに懸濁し、特殊機械工業(株)製TKホモミキサーA型を用いて15000rpm20分間分散処理を行い、ガラス上に広げてアセトンを乾燥し、走査型電子顕微鏡にてセルロースの微細化状態を確認した。繊維の短軸方向の長さが100nmより細かく解れているセルロースが存在したことから、セルロースの微細化が良好であることが分かった。
(合成例3)で作製したビニル樹脂(3)150gと日本製紙ケミカル社製のセルロースパウダー製品「KCフロック(登録商標) W100G」150gを、株式会社モリヤマ製加圧ニーダー(DRV0.3GB-E型)を用いて60rpmで180分間加圧混練を行った。得られた樹脂とセルロースの混練物であるマスタバッチを0.1%の濃度となるようにアセトンに懸濁し、特殊機械工業(株)製TKホモミキサーA型を用いて15000rpm20分間分散処理を行い、ガラス上に広げてアセトンを乾燥し、走査型電子顕微鏡にてセルロースの微細化状態を確認したが、微細化されたセルロースは観察されなかったため、これを変性セルロース(1)とした。
変性CNF(1)、未変性CNF(1)および変性セルロース(1)を0.2g、MEK6.8gをガラス試験管に入れ、よく撹拌し、MEK中に分散させた。試験管を10回反転させ変性パルプまたはパルプを十分にMEK中に分散し、その後静置し、変性CNFまたはCNFの沈降状態を観察した。1分間観察し、CNFが沈降して上澄みが透明になった場合、MEK中の分散安定性×、パルプが沈降せず上澄みが懸濁した場合、MEK中の分散安定性○として変性CNFの分散性を評価した。
Claims (3)
- 水酸基を有するセルロースに無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂を反応させて変性セルロースを得る工程と、得られた変性セルロースを微細化処理する工程とを同一工程で行う変性セルロースナノファイバーの製造方法であって、該無水多塩基酸構造は、カルボキシル基が分子内で脱水縮合し環状構造を形成した環状無水多塩基酸構造であることを特徴とする変性セルロースナノファイバーの製造方法。
- 前記無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂がビニル系樹脂である請求項1に記載の変性セルロースナノファイバーの製造方法。
- 前記無水多塩基酸構造を分子内に有する樹脂の重量平均分子量が1000以上6000以下である請求項1又は2に記載の変性セルロースナノファイバーの製造方法。
