Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device having a heat sink in order to dissipate heat from the elements of the circuit section.
- Patent Document 1 describes an electric compressor for a vehicle air conditioner in which the axes of a motor and a compression mechanism are set to be horizontal, and a box-shaped inverter housing portion integrated on the upper surface of the housing. A block-shaped heat sink divided according to the arrangement of the semiconductor elements is formed on the bottom surface.
- thermo module facing the other surface side of the circuit board is provided as an auxiliary cooling device.
- the thermo module includes a Peltier element and a radiation fin, and heat absorbed by energization of the Peltier element is released to the outside of the housing through the radiation fin.
- the electric compressor for a vehicle has a large demand for reduction in size and weight from the viewpoint of an increase in mounting space and travel distance. Therefore, the motor drive circuit unit is generally stored in a storage unit integrated with a housing that stores the motor and the compression mechanism, as in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2.
- the volume of the circuit housing portion is minimized, and the heat density in the housing portion is high. Therefore, it is not sufficient to conduct the heat of the semiconductor element to the member in contact with the element to dissipate it, and it is desirable to dissipate the heat of the semiconductor element more positively.
- the circuit board is disposed horizontally and faces the cover that covers the opening of the inverter housing portion.
- an object of the present invention is to efficiently cool a circuit element by natural convection in the circuit housing portion without requiring forced cooling means using ventilation or power between the inside and outside of the circuit housing portion.
- the device of the present invention includes a device main body, a main body storage portion that stores the device main body, a circuit portion that includes a circuit board that drives and controls the device main body, and a circuit storage that stores the circuit portion and is integrated with the main body storage portion. And a section.
- a heat sink is formed on the circuit part side of the partition wall that stands up along the vertical direction or substantially in the vertical direction and separates the inside of the main body storage part and the circuit storage part from the circuit board element facing the partition wall. At least one of the upper end portion and the lower end portion of the heat sink reaches the tip end (tip) while the width is gradually narrowed.
- the “vertical direction” is defined as a direction in a state where the device is installed (use state).
- the posture of the installation target for example, a vehicle
- the “vertical direction” will be described as including a substantially vertical direction slightly deviated from the vertical direction.
- the partition that separates the inside of the main body storage portion from the inside of the circuit storage portion is set to a temperature lower than that of the heat sink based on the heat capacity of the main body storage portion and the cooling by the fluid in the main body storage portion that is lower than the temperature in the circuit storage portion.
- the heat sink is dissipated by heat exchange from the partition wall or heat exchange with air around the heat sink that is lowered by radiation from the partition wall.
- natural convection is utilized in the present invention to promote heat dissipation of the heat sink by maintaining the air around the heat sink at a low temperature.
- the circuit board facing the partition wall that stands up along the vertical direction also stands up along the vertical direction, and the air whose temperature has risen due to the heat generated by the element moves upward along the circuit board along the side of the heat sink. .
- the elements of the circuit board are efficiently cooled, the elements can be arranged with higher density. Thereby, downsizing of the device can be promoted. Further, according to the present invention, since the cooling effect by natural convection is sufficiently exerted, a sufficient cooling effect can be obtained without other cooling means such as ventilation inside and outside the circuit housing part and forced cooling means. The cost required for cooling the element can be suppressed.
- the heat sink preferably has a vertical dimension longer than a dimension in a direction intersecting the vertical direction.
- a plurality of elements are arranged at least in the horizontal direction on the circuit board, and a heat sink is provided for each section in which the region where the elements are arranged is divided along the vertical direction. .
- the heat sink is divided so that the region where the elements are arranged is shared by the plurality of heat sinks, the heat dissipation of the heat sink is improved by increasing the heat transfer area in contact with the surrounding air.
- the division direction is the vertical direction, convection is smoothly performed between adjacent heat sinks, so that the heat dissipation of the heat sink can be further improved.
- the individual heat sinks divided along the vertical direction have a narrower width than that of the integral heat sink, so that the aspect ratio is large. Thereby, also in the point which can suppress the area where a heat transfer rate is inferior with respect to the length of the area of the vertical direction (vertical direction) still shorter than the said structure, it can contribute to the heat dissipation improvement of a heat sink.
- the partition wall is formed with a protruding portion that protrudes to the circuit portion side above the heat sink. If it does so, since a protrusion part will oppose the airflow which raises along a heat sink, an ascending airflow will be cooled by a protrusion part and will start to fall. Convection is also promoted by promoting the descending airflow. Therefore, the heat dissipation of the heat sink and the element can be further improved.
- the protruding portion can be formed so as to include a recess communicating with the main body storage portion.
- the protrusion can be maintained at a temperature equivalent to that of the partition wall by cooling the protrusion by the fluid in the main body storage portion flowing into the recess. Due to the protrusion, more downward airflow can be generated and convection can be promoted.
- the terminal which connects a circuit board and an apparatus main body can also be accommodated in a recessed part.
- the concave portion also serves as the terminal accommodating opening, the number of members occupying the inside of the circuit accommodating portion is reduced, so that air smoothly circulates in the circuit accommodating portion. Thereby, the cooling effect can be enhanced.
- At least one of the heat sink and the protruding portion is integrally formed with a fixing portion for fixing the circuit board to the partition wall.
- the fixing portion is thermally coupled to the heat sink and the protruding portion to increase the heat capacity, the heat dissipation of the heat sink and the protruding portion is improved.
- heat transfer from the circuit board through the fixing portion can be expected, it is possible to contribute to improvement in heat dissipation of the element.
- the device of the present invention is preferably an electric compressor.
- the device main body includes a motor and a compression mechanism that compresses the refrigerant sucked into the main body storage unit while being driven and controlled via the motor.
- the partition walls are cooled and maintained at a low temperature by the low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant gas sucked into the main body storage portion. Since the heat sink and the element are radiated based on the convection with the low temperature air cooled by the partition wall, the cooling effect can be enhanced.
- the circuit element can be efficiently cooled by natural convection in the circuit housing portion.

Similar to the partition wall 32, the power board 41 is formed in a substantially circular flat plate shape in accordance with the substantially cylindrical housing 12. The same applies to the control board 42. The power board 41 and the control board 42 do not necessarily have to have a shape corresponding to the shape of the housing 12, and can be formed in a rectangular shape.

- the control board 42 stands up along the vertical direction and faces the power board 41.
- the heat sink 36 of this embodiment is formed so that the length in the vertical direction is longer than the width.
- the width of the heat sink 36 (shown by D in FIG. 2A) is equal to or greater than the width of the region 410 in which the semiconductor elements 43 are arranged (dimension in the column direction), and the length of the heat sink 36 is the region 410. Is equal to or greater than the length of
- the heat sink 36 is formed in an oval block shape in plan view, and has a pair of side surfaces 361 and 362 located on the side of the heat sink 36, and a lower surface 36L that connects the side surfaces 361 and 362 with the lower end of the heat sink 36. And an upper surface 36H that connects the side surface 361 and the side surface 362 with the upper end of the heat sink 36.
- the lower surface 36L protrudes in an arc shape downward from the lower surface 36L, and is a cylindrical surface.
- the upper surface 36H protrudes in a circular arc shape further upward, and is a cylindrical surface.
- Each of the lower surface 36L and the upper surface 36H is formed so that the width D of the heat sink 36 gradually becomes narrower toward the tip end portion T located at the width center of the heat sink 36.
- the electric compressor 1 When the drive current generated by the circuit unit 40 is supplied to the motor 10, the electric compressor 1 is started, and the refrigerant sucked into the housing 12 through the suction pipe 21 is compressed by the scroll compression mechanism 11. During operation of the electric compressor 1, the semiconductor element 43 continuously generates heat by switching control. The heat generated from the element main body 43A is radiated by being conducted to the heat sink 36 through the heat radiating member 43B.
- the heat sink 36 is dissipated by heat conduction from the partition wall 32 with which the sucked refrigerant contacts or heat exchange with air around the heat sink 36 that is lowered by radiation from the partition wall 32.
- natural convection is utilized to promote the heat dissipation of the heat sink 36 by maintaining the air around the heat sink 36 at a low temperature.
- the power board 41 stands up along the vertical direction, and natural convection occurs along the power board 41. Based on the natural convection, an airflow F1 rising along one side surface 361 of the heat sink 36 and an airflow F2 rising along the other side surface 362 of the heat sink 36 are formed between the power board 41 and the partition wall 32.
- a rising air flow F ⁇ b> 3 is also formed between the power board 41 and the control board 42.
- a descending airflow is formed around the power board 41.
- the heat in the heat sink 36 and the semiconductor element 43 is dissipated by circulating the air in the circuit storage unit 30 by the air flows F1 to F3 and the descending air flow.
- the natural convection that occurs based on the density difference between the heated air and the cold air adjacent to the lower side does not occur in the state where they exist together along the horizontal plane.
- the heat sink 36 is formed in a rectangular shape having a lower side and an upper side perpendicular to the side surfaces 361 and 362, natural convection is smoothly performed on the side surfaces 361 and 362 along the vertical direction. Air stagnating occurs because the height gradient is zero. In this case, the heat transfer coefficient between the heat sink 36 and the air is lowered. Therefore, by forming the arc-shaped lower surface 36L and the upper surface 36H on the heat sink 36, a height gradient is given to the upper and lower ends of the heat sink 36. Then, natural convection is also performed on the lower surface 36L and the upper surface 36H of the heat sink 36.
- the heat transfer coefficient is prevented from decreasing at the upper and lower ends of the heat sink 36, and the cooling effect by natural convection is exhibited over the entire heat sink 36 through which the airflows F1 and F2 flow, so that the air around the heat sink 36 is cooled to a low temperature. Can be maintained.
- the heat of the semiconductor element 43 can be efficiently radiated to the heat sink 36 while transferring the heat of the heat sink 36 to the low-temperature air around the heat sink 36. Since the semiconductor element 43 is efficiently cooled as described above, the semiconductor element 43 and other circuit elements can be arranged at a higher density.
- the downsizing of the circuit storage unit 30 thereby can also lead to the downsizing of the electric compressor 1.
- the area 410 in which the semiconductor elements 43 are arranged is elongated in the vertical direction, and the vertical direction of the heat sink 36 is correspondingly increased.
- the dimension is longer than the width D.
- the shape of the lower end portion and the upper end portion of the heat sink 36 can be in any form as long as the width D is gradually narrowed and reaches the tip end portion T.
- the lower end part 363 and the upper end part 364 of the heat sink 36 can be made into a wedge shape.
- the lower end 363 and the upper end 364 are each formed by a plane that intersects the side surface 361 and a plane that intersects the side surface 362, and protrudes in a mountain shape toward the tip end T.
- the lower end 363 and the upper end 364 may be formed so that the width gradually decreases toward the tip T located on one end side in the width direction of the heat sink 36. it can.
- the tip portion T described above constitutes a corner portion formed by two planes intersecting each other, but the corner may be chamfered flatly or curvedly. It is more preferable that the upper and lower end portions of the heat sink 36 are gradually narrowed toward the tip portion T. However, in the present invention, only one of the lower end portion and the upper end portion is gradually narrowed toward the tip portion T. In addition, a configuration in which the other is formed linearly along the direction intersecting the side surfaces 361 and 362 is also allowed.
- the heat sink 36 may have an arbitrary shape that overlaps the region where the semiconductor elements 43 are arranged.
- the vertical dimension of the heat sink 36 does not necessarily have to be longer than the width, and the present invention allows a heat sink whose vertical dimension is shorter than the width.
- the element body 43A of the semiconductor element 43 is in contact with the heat sink 36 via the heat dissipation member 43B, but the semiconductor element 43 without the heat dissipation member 43B is in direct contact with the heat sink 36.
- the scroll compression mechanism 11 is exemplified, but other types of compression mechanisms such as a rotary type can also be employed.
- FIG. 4A in the second embodiment, two heat sinks 51 and 52 are used.
- the heat sinks 51 and 52 are roughly formed by dividing the heat sink 36 of the first embodiment into two equal parts along the vertical direction.
- the heat sinks 51 and 52 handle the heat radiation of the semiconductor elements 43 one by one. That is, the heat sink 51 corresponds to a section where the semiconductor elements 43 forming one row are arranged, and the heat sink 52 corresponds to a section where the semiconductor elements 43 forming the other row are arranged.
- Both the heat sinks 51 and 52 are formed with a lower surface 36L and an upper surface 36H in the same manner as the heat sink 36 described above.
- the width of each of the heat sinks 51 and 52 is gradually narrowed, so that the flow path between the heat sinks 51 and 52 is widened. Air enters and exits smoothly on the side. Natural convection is performed over the entire flow path between the heat sinks 51 and 52 by the action of the lower surface 36L and the upper surface 36H described above.
- heat dissipation is improved by increasing the heat transfer area of the heat sink in contact with the surrounding air.
- the division direction is the vertical direction
- convection is smoothly performed between the adjacent heat sinks 51 and 52, so that the heat dissipation of the heat sink can be further improved.
- the individual heat sinks 51 and 52 divided along the vertical direction have a width D narrower than that of the integral heat sink 36, the aspect ratio becomes large. This also contributes to improving the heat dissipation of the heat sink in that the section having a lower heat transfer coefficient than the length of the section in the vertical direction (vertical direction) can be kept shorter than the integral heat sink 36. If the width D of the heat sinks 51 and 52 is reduced to be equal to the width of the semiconductor element 43 that each of the heat sinks 51 and 52 is responsible for, the section where the heat transfer coefficient is inferior can be minimized.

For example, among the heat sinks arranged in the upper, middle, and lower three rows, the lower surface 36L is formed in the heat sink arranged in the lower row, and the upper surface 36H is formed in the heat sink arranged in the upper row.
- the wedge shape shown in FIG. 3A or the shape of the single gradient shown in FIG. FIG. 4B shows an example in which the heat sinks 51 and 52 are rectangular in plan view.
- Each of the heat sinks 51 and 52 has a lower surface 365 and an upper surface 366 that are orthogonal to the side surfaces 361 and 362.
- the lower surface 365 and the upper surface 366 are linearly formed along the horizontal direction on the partition wall 32. According to this configuration, since the partition wall 32 and the power board 41 stand up along the vertical direction, natural convection is performed along the side surfaces 361 and 362 and air in the circuit storage unit 30 circulates.
- the semiconductor element 43 can be efficiently cooled by improving the heat dissipation by dividing.

- the protruding portion 61 extends in the horizontal direction on the surface 32 ⁇ / b> A of the partition wall 32.
- the horizontal dimension of the protrusion 61 is generally from the tip T of the heat sink 51 to the tip T of the heat sink 52.
- the height of the protruding portion 61 is the same as the height of the boss 37 to which the power board 41 is fixed. As shown in FIG.
- the protruding portion 61 includes a concave portion 610 that is in a form dug from the back surface 32 ⁇ / b> B of the partition wall 32.
- the protrusion 61 is maintained at a low temperature equivalent to the partition wall 32 by the suction refrigerant flowing into the recess 610 communicating with the housing 12.
- the protruding portion 61 faces the rising air current, the rising air current is cooled by the protruding portion 61 and turns downward.
- the descending airflow (Fd) is promoted in this way, circulation of air in the circuit storage unit 30 is promoted.
- the protruding portion 61 is cooled by the suction refrigerant taken into the concave portion 610 that is the internal space, more downward airflow can be generated and air circulation can be further promoted.
- the heat dissipation of the heat sinks 51 and 52 and the semiconductor element 43 can be further improved.
- the heat sinks 51 and 52 can be formed by being dug from the back surface 32 ⁇ / b> B of the partition wall 32. As a result, the heat sinks 51 and 52 are cooled by the suction refrigerant in the housing 12, so that the semiconductor element 43 can be efficiently cooled.
- the two protrusions 62 formed in a thin plate shape are aligned in the vertical direction.
- the protrusion 62 is maintained at a low temperature by heat conduction from the partition wall 32 and its own heat dissipation.
- the height of the above-mentioned protrusion part 61 and the protrusion part 62 is arbitrary, and they may protrude to a position exceeding the power board 41. Further, the horizontal dimension and the vertical dimension of the protrusion 61 and the protrusion 62 can be arbitrarily determined.

Furthermore, since heat transfer from the power substrate 41 can be expected through the boss 37 and the boss portion 37 ′, it is possible to contribute to improving the heat dissipation of the semiconductor element 43.
- the electric compressor that compresses the refrigerant is shown, but the present invention can be widely applied to various devices such as an electric compressor that compresses air and an electric pump. Unless deviating from the gist of the present invention, the above-described configuration can be selected or changed to another configuration as appropriate.

Abstract
