Description

ケイ素化合物及びその製造方法、並びにその利用
 本発明は、新規なケイ素化合物、及びその製造方法に関する。本発明は、また、該ケイ素化合物からなるラジカル重合開始剤、それを用いたポリマーの製造方法、及び得られたポリマーを含むゴム組成物に関する。また、本発明は、該ケイ素化合物を用いて固体物質にポリマーグラフト鎖を形成した複合体及びその製造方法、並びに該複合体からなる成形体に関する。更に、本発明は、ゴム組成物やプラスチック組成物に配合される補強剤、及びその製造方法、並びに、該補強剤を配合したゴム組成物及びプラスチック組成物に関する。
 固体物質の表面に高分子をグラフトする方法の1つとして、固体物質表面からリビングラジカル重合することにより、濃厚な高分子ブラシを固体物質表面に生成させる試みがなされている。この方法では、予め固体物質の粒子表面に重合開始剤を固定化した後、各種モノマーを重合することによりポリマーグラフト鎖を形成する。
 例えば、特許文献1や非特許文献1には、固体物質の表面に対してシランカップリング処理可能な重合開始剤を用いることが開示されている。具体的には、重合開始剤としては、(2-ブロモ-2-メチル)プロピオニルオキシヘキシルトリエトキシシラン(BHE)が開示されている。BHEは、分子鎖の一方にラジカル重合開始基を有しかつ他方に二重結合を有する化合物に対し、その二重結合にアルコキシシランをヒドロシリル化反応させることで合成されている。しかしながら、このような製造方法では、ヒドロシリル化反応の反応効率が高いとは言えず、必ずしも工業的とはいえない。
 特許文献2,3には、リビングラジカル重合開始能を有するケイ素化合物の製造方法として、クロロシランをヒドロシリル化反応させた後、オルトギ酸エステルやアルコールを反応させてアルコキシ基を導入する方法が開示されている。この方法では反応効率を改善することはできるものの、ヒドロシリル化反応の触媒が禁水性であるなどの問題がある。
 ところで、従来、ゴム組成物やプラスチック組成物には、補強剤(補強性充填剤とも称される。)が配合されている。例えば、タイヤ用ゴム組成物においては、低燃費性能の要求の高まりから、低発熱性のゴム組成物の開発が求められており、これを満足する手法の一つとして、補強剤としてシリカが配合されている。しかし、シリカの粒子表面は極性が高いため、マトリックスゴムであるジエン系ゴムとの相互作用が低い。そこで、特許文献4では、シリカの分散性を改良するために、シリカにビニルモノマーを含浸させた後、ラジカル重合によりシリカをポリマーによって被覆する方法が開示されている。

 本発明は、ラジカル重合開始能を有する新規なケイ素化合物及びその製造方法、及びそれを用いた様々な利用態様を提供することを目的とする。
 第1の実施形態に係るケイ素化合物は、下記一般式(1)で表されるものである。

 式中、Aはラジカル重合開始能を有する基であり、Z及びZはそれぞれ独立に少なくとも炭素を含む2価の基であり、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。nは1~3の整数である。
 第2の実施形態は、下記一般式(5)で表されるケイ素化合物の製造方法であって、下記一般式(6)で表される化合物と下記一般式(7)で表される化合物を反応させる工程を含むものである。

 式中、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。R、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素、水素、酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造であり、R、R及びRのうち少なくとも1つはハロゲンである。Z、Z及びZはそれぞれ独立に少なくとも炭素原子を含む2価の基である。nは1~3の整数である。
 第3の実施形態は、第1の実施形態に係るケイ素化合物からなるラジカル重合開始剤である。
 第4の実施形態は、第3の実施形態に係るラジカル重合開始剤を用いて、モノマーをラジカル重合またはリビングラジカル重合する、ポリマーの製造方法である。
 第5の実施形態は、第4の実施形態に係る方法により得られた、末端にアルコキシシリル基を有するポリマーである。
 第6の実施形態は、第5の実施形態に係るポリマーを、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~100質量部含有する、ゴム組成物である。
 第7の実施形態は、第1の実施形態に係るケイ素化合物を固体物質表面に固着させ、固着したケイ素化合物からモノマーをリビングラジカル重合してポリマーグラフト鎖を形成する、複合体の製造方法である。
 第8の実施形態は、第7の実施形態に係る方法により得られる複合体である。
 第9の実施形態は、第8の実施形態に係る複合体からなる成形体である。
 第10の実施形態は、第1の実施形態に係るケイ素化合物を固体物質表面に固着させ、固着したケイ素化合物のラジカル重合開始能を有する基を重合開始点として、ラジカル重合可能なモノマーをリビングラジカル重合する、ゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤の製造方法である。
 第11の実施形態は、第10の実施形態に係る製造方法により得られ、前記固体物質表面のポリマーグラフト鎖の量が、前記固体物質100質量部に対して5~1000質量部である、ゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤である。
 第12の実施形態は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、第11の実施形態に係る補強剤を1~200質量部含有する、ゴム組成物である。
 第13の実施形態は、プラスチック成分100質量部に対して、第11の実施形態に係る補強剤を1~200質量部含有する、プラスチック組成物である。
 本実施形態によれば、ラジカル重合開始能を有する新規なケイ素化合物が提供される。このケイ素化合物はラジカル重合開始剤として好適に用いられ、例えば、各種材料への固定化が可能な重合開始剤として用いることができる。また、本発明によれば、簡便な方法で該ケイ素化合物を製造することができる。
[ケイ素化合物]
 本実施形態に係るケイ素化合物は、上記一般式(1)で表されるものである。このケイ素化合物は、構造中に有するチオエーテル基の硫黄原子に不対電子を有している。そのため、金属や無機物質、高分子物質との親和性が高く、チオエーテル基を有していない場合と比べて、固体物質表面への固着性が高く、また高分子やゴムといったマトリックスへの分散性が向上すると考えられる。
 式(1)中、Aはラジカル重合開始能を有する基(以下、単にラジカル重合開始基ということがある。)である。Aは、より好ましくはリビングラジカル重合開始能を有する基(即ち、リビングラジカル重合開始基)である。リビングラジカル重合の反応様式としては、原子移動ラジカル重合(ATRP)、可逆的付加開裂連鎖移動重合(RAFT)、イニファータ(iniferter)による方法、可逆的連鎖移動触媒重合(RTCP)などが挙げられるが、特に限定されない。
 原子移動ラジカル重合開始能を有する基としては、例えば、ハロアルキル基、ハロエステル基、ハロアルキルフェニル基、ハロケトン基、ハロニトリル基、ハロゲン化スルホニル基、又は、ジチオカルバメート基などが挙げられる。好ましくは、ハロエステル基、又はハロアルキルフェニル基である。この場合、塩化銅/アミン錯体などの遷移金属錯体の存在下でラジカルが発生し、重合反応が進行する。可逆的付加開裂連鎖移動重合能を有する基としては、例えば、ジチオエステル基、トリチオカルボネート基、ザンテート基、又は、ジチオカルボメート基などが挙げられる。この場合、アゾ化合物や有機過酸化物を重合触媒として使用する。イニファータの場合の例としては、ジチオカルバメート基が挙げられる。可逆的連鎖移動触媒重合の場合の例としては ヨウ化アルキル基があげられる。この場合、ラジカル発生剤とヨウ化物触媒の存在下でラジカルが発生し、重合反応が進行する。
 ハロアルキル基としては、例えば、トリクロロメチル、又はブロモジクロロメチルなどが挙げられる。ハロアルキルフェニル基としては、例えば、クロロメチルフェニル、ブロモメチルフェニル、ヨードメチルフェニル、(1-クロロエチル)フェニル、(1-ブロモエチル)フェニル、又は(1-ヨードエチル)フェニルなどが挙げられる。ハロケトン基としては、例えば、トリクロロエタノイル、又はジクロロエタノイルなどが挙げられる。ハロニトリル基としては、例えば、クロロシアノメチル、ブロモシアノメチル、又はヨードシアノメチルなどが挙げられる。ハロゲン化スルホニル基としては、例えば、クロロスルホニルなどが挙げられる。
 上記Aのラジカル重合開始基としては、下記一般式(2)で表されるα-ハロエステル基が好ましい。

 式(2)中、R、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素原子、水素原子、酸素原子、窒素原子、ハロゲン原子及び硫黄原子からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造であり、R、R及びRのうち少なくとも1つはハロゲン原子である。ハロゲンとしては、塩素、臭素またはヨウ素が好ましく、より好ましくは臭素である。R、R及びRは、基本的には、それぞれ、水素原子、炭化水素基またはハロゲン原子であるが、ラジカル重合開始能を損なわない限り、酸素、窒素及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子を含む置換基を有してもよい。ある実施形態において、Rはハロゲン原子であり、R及びRは、それぞれ独立して水素原子、炭素数1~20のアルキル基、炭素数6~20のアリール基、又は炭素数7~20のアリールアルキル基であり、但しR及びRがともに水素であることはない。アルキル基は、より好ましくは炭素数1~4のアルキル基である。アリール基は、より好ましくはフェニル基又はメチルフェニル基である。アリールアルキル基は、より好ましくはベンジル基又はフェネチル基である。R及びRの特に好ましい例はメチル基である。
 上記Aのラジカル重合開始基としては、下記一般式(3)で表されるチオカルボニルチオ基であることも好ましい態様である。

 式(3)中、Rは炭素原子、水素原子、酸素原子、窒素原子、ハロゲン原子及び硫黄原子からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造である。ここで、Rが、炭化水素基の場合が、ジチオエステル基である。Rが、R-S-の場合(但し、Rは炭化水素である。)が、トリチオカルボネート基である。Rが、R10-O-の場合(但し、R10は炭化水素である。)が、ザンテート基である。Rが、R1112N-の場合(但し、R11およびR12はそれぞれ独立して水素原子または炭化水素基である。)が、ジチオカルバメート基である。これらのチオカルボニルチオ基は、ラジカル重合開始能を損なわない限り、酸素、窒素及びハロゲンからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子を含む置換基を有してもよい。より好ましくは、ジチオエステル基の場合、Rは炭素数1~20のアルキル基、炭素数6~20のアリール基、又は炭素数7~20のアリールアルキル基であり、特に好ましくはフェニル基である。トリチオカルボネート基及びザンテート基の場合、R及びR10はそれぞれ炭素数1~20のアルキル基、炭素数6~20のアリール基、又は炭素数7~20のアリールアルキル基であることが好ましく、特に好ましくは炭素数1~12のアルキル基である。ジチオカルバメート基の場合、R11およびR12は、それぞれ独立して水素、炭素数1~12のアルキル基、又は炭素数6~10のアリール基であることが好ましく、より好ましくはR11がアルキル基、R12がアリール基である。また、R11とR12は互いに結合してNとともに環を形成してもよい。
 式(1)において、Zは、上記Aのラジカル重合開始基と-S-で表されるチオエーテル基とを結合する2価の基である。Zは、一実施形態において、炭素数が1~20である2価の有機基であり、該有機基は、エーテル結合を含んでもよく、また酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子を含む置換基を有してもよい。より好ましくは、Zは、炭素数3~11のアルキレン基である。
 式(1)において、Zは、チオエーテル基と-Si(0R(R3-nで表されるアルコキシシリル基とを結合する2価の基である。Zは、一実施形態において、炭素数が1~20である2価の有機基であり、該有機基は、エーテル結合を含んでもよく、また酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子を含む置換基を有してもよい。より好ましくは、Zは、炭素数1~3のアルキレン基である。
 式(1)において、Rは、炭素数1~3のアルキル基であり、好ましくは、メチル基またはエチル基である。Rは、1分子中に複数有する場合、同一でも異なっていてもよい。Rは、炭素数1~3のアルキル基であり、好ましくは、メチル基またはエチル基である。Rは、1分子中に複数有する場合、同一でも異なっていてもよい。また、nは1~3の整数であり、好ましくはn=3である。すなわち、-Si(OR(R3-nで表されるアルコキシシリル基は、トリアルコキシシリル基であることが好ましく、より好ましくはトリエトキシシリル基またはトリメトキシシリル基である。
 ある実施形態において、該ケイ素化合物は、下記一般式(4)で表されるものであってもよい。

 式(4)中、Xは、ハロゲン原子であり、塩素、臭素またはヨウ素が好ましく、より好ましくは臭素である。R及びRは、それぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基であり、好ましくはそれぞれ独立にメチル基又はエチル基である。R及びRは、それぞれ独立に水素原子又は炭素数1~3のアルキル基であるが、ともに水素原子であることはない。R及びRは、好ましくはそれぞれメチル基またはエチル基であり、更に好ましくはともにメチル基である。aは、3~11の整数であり、mは、1~3の整数である。nは、1~3の整数であり、特に好ましくはn=3である。
 式(4)のケイ素化合物は、ラジカル重合開始基としてα-ハロエステル基を有するものであり、式(1)において、Aが下記式(4-1)で表され、Zが下記式(4-2)で表され、Zが下記式(4-3)で表される場合である。これらの式中、X、R、R、a及びmは、式(4)と同じである。

 以上のような実施形態に係るケイ素化合物は、分子内にラジカル重合開始基及び炭素-炭素二重結合を有する化合物と、メルカプト基を有するシランカップリング剤とを反応させることにより合成することができる。詳細には、下記一般式(6)で表される化合物と下記一般式(7)で表される化合物を反応させることにより、下記一般式(5)で表されるケイ素化合物を製造することができる。式(5)で表されるケイ素化合物は、上記一般式(1)においてラジカル重合開始基として上記一般式(2)で表されるα-ハロエステル基を有するものであり、以下では、これについて製造方法を詳細に説明する。但し、該製造方法は、ラジカル重合開始基として、上記一般式(3)で表されるチオカルボニルチオ基を有する場合でも、更には、他のラジカル重合開始基を有する場合でも、同様に行うことができる。

 式(5)~(7)中、R、R、Z、Z及びnは、上記式(1)と同じである。また、R、R及びRは、上記式(2)と同じである。Zは、炭素原子を含む2価の基である。Zは、一実施形態において、炭素数が1~18である2価の有機基であって、該有機基は、エーテル結合を含んでもよく、また酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子を含む置換基を有してもよい。より好ましくは、Zは、炭素数1~9のアルキレン基であり、Zよりも炭素数が2つ少ない基である。
 式(6)で表される化合物が、分子内にラジカル重合開始基と二重結合を有する化合物であり、式(7)で表される化合物が、メルカプト基を有するシランカップリング剤である。この反応では、式(6)の化合物の二重結合に対し、式(7)の化合物のメルカプト基を、エン-チオール反応によって結合させる。
 反応に際しては、ラジカル発生剤を反応触媒として用いる。ラジカル発生剤としては、アゾ化合物、又は有機過酸化物などが挙げられ、熱によりラジカルが発生するものや光照射によりラジカルが発生するものが含まれる。アゾ化合物の例としては、アゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN)、1,1’-アゾビス(シクロヘキサンカルボニトリル)(ABCN)などが挙げられる。有機化酸化物の例としては、ジ-tert-ブチルペルオキシド、tert-ブチルヒドロペルオキシド、過酸化ベンゾイル、メチルエチルケトンペルオキシドなどが挙げられる。このようなラジカル発生剤を用いる場合、一般的に考えれば、式(6)の化合物がそのビニル結合により重合すると考えられるが、実際にはエン-チオール反応の方が優先的に進行し、式(5)で表されるケイ素化合物が生成されることが判明した。
 該反応は、より詳細には、式(6)で表される化合物と、式(7)で表される化合物と、ラジカル発生剤を、トルエンなどの有機溶剤とともに混合し、ラジカルが発生する条件に保持することにより行うことができる。特に限定するものではないが、反応温度は50~120℃であることが好ましい。
 なお、式(6)で表される化合物の合成方法は特に限定されず、上記特許文献2,3に開示された方法により合成することができる。すなわち、例えば、分子鎖の一端に水酸基を有しかつ他端に付加重合性二重結合を有する化合物に対し、α位の炭素にハロゲンが結合している酸ハロゲン化物を、トリエチルアミンの存在下で反応させればよい。一方、式(7)で表される化合物についても特に限定されないが、メルカプト基を有するシランカップリング剤が市販されているので、それを用いればよい。もちろん公知の方法で合成してもよい。
 本実施形態において、上記式(4)で表される好ましい態様のケイ素化合物を製造するためには、下記一般式(8)で表される化合物と下記一般式(9)で表される化合物を反応させればよい。

[ラジカル重合開始剤、それを用いた変性ポリマー及びその製造方法]
 本実施形態に係るケイ素化合物は、分子内にラジカル重合開始基を有するため、ラジカル重合開始剤として、より好ましくはリビングラジカル重合開始剤として用いることができる。すなわち、該ケイ素化合物からなるラジカル重合開始剤を用いて、ビニルモノマー及びジエンモノマーからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種のモノマーを、ラジカル重合またはリビングラジカル重合することによりポリマーを製造することができる。
 得られたポリマーは、その分子末端に、該ケイ素化合物によるアルコキシシリル基を有するため、変性ポリマーであると言える。アルコキシシリル基は、シリカなどの無機物質と反応可能なため、無機物質に対するポリマーの親和性を高めることができる。一実施形態において、該変性ポリマーは、モノマーをリビングラジカル重合してなるポリマー鎖(好ましくはビニル系ポリマー鎖)と、該ポリマー鎖の一末端に下記式(1-1)で表される構造を有する。

 式(1-1)中、R、R、Z、Z及びnは、上記式(1)と同じである。また、R及びRは、上記式(2)と同じである。式(1-1)で表される構造は、ATRPによるリビングラジカル重合開始能を有する式(2)で表される開始剤(Rがハロゲン)を用いて重合することにより得られる。得られた変性ポリマーは、その分子鎖の一方の末端に式(1-1)で表される構造を有し、他方の末端にハロゲン(R)を有する。より好ましくは、式(4)で表される開始剤を用いて重合することにより、下記式(4-4)で表される構造をポリマー鎖の一末端に有する変性ポリマーを得ることである。この場合も、得られた変性ポリマーは、もう一方の末端にハロゲン(X)を有する。なお、式(4-4)中、R、R、R、R、a、m及びnは、上記式(4)と同じである。

 ビニルモノマーとしては、例えば、(メタ)アクリル酸系モノマー、(メタ)アクリルアミド系モノマー、スチレン系モノマー、ビニルエステル系モノマー、ニトリル系ビニルモノマー、ビニルエーテル系モノマー及びモノオレフィン系モノマーからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を用いることができる。ここで、(メタ)アクリル酸とは、アクリル酸とメタクリル酸のいずれか一方又は双方の意味であり、(メタ)アクリルアミドとは、アクリルアミドとメタクリルアミドのいずれか一方又は双方の意味である。

 ビニルエステル系モノマーとしては、例えば、酢酸ビニル、プロピオン酸ビニル、及び、安息香酸ビニルなどが挙げられる。
 ニトリル系ビニルモノマーとしては、例えば、アクリロニトリル、及び、メタクリロニトリルなどが挙げられる。
 ビニルエーテル系モノマーとしては、例えば、ビニルメチルエーテル、ビニルエチルエーテル、ビニルイソブチルエーテル、及び、ビニルフェニルエーテル等が挙げられる。
 モノオレフィン系モノマーとしては、例えば、エチレン、プロピレン、イソブチレン、1-ブテン、1-ペンテン、及び、4-メチル-1-ペンテン等が挙げられる。
 ジエン系モノマーとしては、例えば、1,3-ブタジエン、イソプレン、クロロプレン、2,3-ジメチル-1,3-ブタジエン、2-メチル-1,3-ペンタジエン、及び、1,3-ヘキサジエンなどが挙げられる。
 以上例示したモノマーは、いずれか1種類で用いても、2種以上組み合わせて用いてもよい。
 上記ケイ素化合物を用いてモノマーをリビングラジカル重合させる場合、例えば、ラジカル重合開始基が原子移動ラジカル重合開始能を有するものでは、遷移金属錯体を触媒として用いることができる。このような遷移金属錯体としては、周期律表第7族、8族、9族、10族、または11族元素を中心金属とする金属錯体が好ましく、より好ましくは、0価の銅、1価の銅、2価のルテニウム、2価の鉄または2価のニッケルの各錯体である。特には1価の銅錯体が好ましく、アミン/イミン系の多座配位子を有する銅(I)錯体、例えば、ハロゲン化銅(例えば、塩化銅)/アミン錯体が好ましく用いられる。また、例えば、ラジカル重合開始基が可逆的付加開裂連鎖移動重合能を有するものでは、アゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN)、1,1’-アゾビス(シクロヘキサンカルボニトリル)(ABCN)などのアゾ化合物、ジ-tert-ブチルペルオキシド、tert-ブチルヒドロペルオキシド、過酸化ベンゾイル、メチルエチルケトンペルオキシドなどの有機過酸化物を、重合触媒として用いることができる。
 得られた変性ポリマーの分子量は、特に限定されず、用途に応じて種々の分子量に設定すればよい。例えば、ゴム組成物に配合する場合、上記ビニルモノマーをリビングラジカル重合してなるポリマーの数平均分子量は、1000~500000であることが好ましく、より好ましくは5000~100000である。
 該変性ポリマーは、ゴム成分やプラスチック成分などの他のポリマー成分に添加して、各種成形体の特性を変えるために用いることができる。その場合、特に限定するものではないが、他のポリマー成分100質量部に対して、例えば0.1~100質量部にて配合することができる。一実施形態として、該変性ポリマー(好ましくは、上記ポリマー鎖としてビニル系ポリマー鎖を持つもの)を、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~100質量部含有するゴム組成物である。該変性ポリマーは、上述したように、末端にアルコキシシリル基を有するので、例えば、ゴム組成物に充填剤としてシリカを配合した場合に、シリカ表面のシラノール基と反応させることができ、特性の改良に寄与することができる。また、該変性ポリマーは、末端に上記ケイ素化合物によるチオエーテル基を有するため、マトリックスゴムへの分散性にも優れると考えられる。
 該ゴム組成物におけるゴム成分の例としては、天然ゴム(NR)、イソプレンゴム(IR)、ブタジエンゴム(BR)、スチレン-ブタジエンゴム(SBR)、アクリロニトリル-ブタジエンゴム(NBR)、クロロプレンゴム(CR)、ブチルゴム(IIR)、ハロゲン化ブチルゴム(例えば、臭素化ブチルゴム、塩素化ブチルゴム)、及び、エチレンプロピレンゴム(EPDM)などが挙げられ、これらはいずれか1種単独で、又は2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。ゴム成分として、好ましくはジエン系ゴムを用いることである。
 上記変性ポリマーの配合量は、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、0.1~100質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは1~70質量部、更に好ましくは5~50質量部であり、特に好ましくは10~30質量部である。
 該ゴム組成物には、上記変性ポリマーの他に、シリカやカーボンブラックなどの充填剤、シランカップリング剤、オイル、亜鉛華、ステアリン酸、老化防止剤、ワックス、加硫剤、加硫促進剤など、ゴム組成物において一般に使用される各種添加剤を配合することができる。充填剤の配合量は、特に限定しないが、ゴム成分100質量部に対して10~150質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは30~100質量部である。充填剤としては、シリカを用いることが好ましく、その配合量は、充填剤に占める割合で50質量%以上であることが好ましい。
 加硫剤としては、硫黄、及び硫黄含有化合物(例えば、塩化硫黄、二塩化硫黄、高分子多硫化物、モルホリンジスルフィド、及びアルキルフェノールジスルフィド等)が挙げられ、これらはいずれか1種単独で又は2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。加硫剤の配合量は、特に限定するものではないが、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~10質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは0.5~5質量部である。
 加硫促進剤としては、例えば、スルフェンアミド系、チウラム系、チアゾール系、及びグアニジン系などの各種加硫促進剤を用いることができ、いずれか1種単独で又は2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。加硫促進剤の配合量は、特に限定するものではないが、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~7質量部であることが好ましく、より好ましくは0.5~5質量部である。
 該ゴム組成物は、通常に用いられるバンバリーミキサーやニーダー、ロール等の混合機を用いて、常法に従い混練し作製することができる。このようにして得られるゴム組成物の用途は、特に限定されないが、トレッドやサイドウォール等のタイヤ、コンベアベルト、防振ゴムなどの各種ゴム組成物に用いることができる。該ゴム組成物は、常法に従い、例えば140~200℃で加硫成形することにより、各種成形体を得ることができる。
[複合体、その製造方法、及びそれを用いた成形体]
 本実施形態に係るケイ素化合物は、また、分子内にアルコキシシリル基を有するためシランカップリング剤としての機能も有し、従って、各種材料への固定化が可能な重合開始剤であるといえる。そのため、固体物質表面に該ケイ素化合物を固着させた後、固着したケイ素化合物を重合開始点としてモノマーをリビングラジカル重合することにより、ポリマーと固体物質との複合体、すなわち固体物質表面にポリマーグラフト鎖が形成された複合体を得ることができる。
 固体物質の例としては、金属、金属化合物、無機物質(無機化合物を含む)、高分子化合物からなるものが挙げられ、形状としては任意であり、鍛造、鋳造、押出成形、プレス成形、射出成形などの各種成形体の他、球状、繊維状、フィルム状、織布、編布、不織布などを含み、微粒子や微小繊維なども含まれる。
 微粒子の平均粒子径は、0.1nm~1mmの範囲にあり、好ましくは1nm~100μmであり、より好ましくは1nm~1μmである。ここで、微粒子の粒子径は、レーザー回折・散乱法から求められる平均粒子径(50%積算値の粒径)である。また、微粒子の1次粒子径が上記範囲にあるものではあるが、アグリゲートなど凝集構造の形態をとる場合、BET法(JIS K6217-7)により比表面積を評価してもよい。この場合、BET比表面積が1~1000m/gの範囲にあり、好ましくは20~1000m/gであり、より好ましくは40~250m/gにあってもよい。微小繊維としては、平均繊維径が0.1nm~100μm、平均繊維長さが100nm~10mmの範囲にあり、好ましくは、平均繊維径が1nm~10μm、平均繊維長さが100nm~1mmの範囲にあり、より好ましくは平均繊維径が1nm~1μm、平均繊維長さが100nm~100μmの範囲にある。ここで、平均繊維径は、走査型電子顕微鏡観察(SEM)像より、微小繊維を10個無作為に抽出し、短径を測定してその相加平均を平均繊維径とする。平均繊維長は、カジャーニ(KAJAANI)社の繊維長測定機(FS-200)を用い、JIS P8121により測定される。
 固体物質として、より好ましくは、シリカ微粒子、酸化亜鉛微粒子、酸化チタン微粒子及びチタン酸バリウム微粒子などの粒子表面に水酸基を持つ無機微粒子が挙げられる。これらの無機微粒子であると、アルコキシ基を持つ上記ケイ素化合物と良好な化学結合を形成しやすく、ラジカル重合鎖が強固に結合した複合微粒子を得ることができる。
 固体物質表面に上記ケイ素化合物を固着させる方法は、特に限定されず、例えばシランカップリング剤について通常用いられている表面処理方法を適用することができる。例えば、該ケイ素化合物をそのまま又は適当な溶媒に溶かしたものを固体物質表面に塗布してもよい。また、例えば固体物質が微粒子である場合には、ケイ素化合物をそのまま又は適当な溶媒とともに固体物質と混合することで表面処理してもよい。より詳細には、ケイ素化合物をそのまま又は適当な溶媒に溶かしたものを固体物質にスプレーし混合する乾式処理でもよく、また、固体物質に水などを加えてスラリーを調製し、これにケイ素化合物を加えて攪拌する湿式処理でもよい。
 ここで、固着とは、ケイ素化合物がアルコキシ基の加水分解等により固体物質表面と化学結合していてもよく、水素結合などの物理結合でもよく、固体表面の細孔内にトラップされていてもよい。固着されているか否かの確認方法としては、固着処理後、有機溶媒等により洗浄した後、固着処理表面にケイ素化合物中の元素が存在するかを、エネルギー分散型X線分光法(EDX)やX線電子分光分析法(XPS)などを用いて測定することができる。
 ケイ素化合物が固着した固体物質を用いて、該ケイ素化合物からモノマーをリビングラジカル重合させる場合、上記のように遷移金属錯体やアゾ化合物、有機過酸化物を触媒として用いて、ビニルモノマーやジエンモノマーなどのモノマーをリビングラジカル重合すればよい。ビニルモノマー及びジエンモノマーの例としては上記したとおりである。
 このようにして得られた複合体においては、上記モノマーのリビングラジカル重合により形成されたポリマーグラフト鎖の量が、固体物質(特に好ましくは無機微粒子)100質量部に対して5~1000質量部であることが好ましい。ポリマーグラフト鎖の量は、より好ましくは固体物質100質量部に対して30~500質量部であり、更に好ましくは50~300質量部である。
 本実施形態に係る成形体は、該複合体からなるものである。詳細には、該複合体として、原料となる固体物質が微粒子からなり、これに熱可塑性ポリマーグラフト鎖を形成してなる複合微粒子を用い、該複合微粒子を粉末成形や射出成形などにより所定の形状に成形することで、複合微粒子からなる成形体が得られる。
 上記の複合体や成形体の用途としては、特に限定されず、例えば、ゴム組成物やプラスチック組成物に配合される補強剤として、光通信分野やカラー映像機器、高出力レーザー分野等におけるナノ光学材料に用いられる高分子コロイド結晶として、リチウムイオン電池等の電解質膜や誘電材料として用いることができる。
[ゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤、その製造方法、及びゴム又はプラスチック組成物]
 本実施形態に係るゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤は、上記ケイ素化合物を固体物質表面に固着させ、そのリビングラジカル重合開始基を重合開始点として、ラジカル重合可能なモノマーをリビングラジカル重合することにより得られるものである。
 ケイ素化合物を固着させる固体物質としては、ゴムマトリックスやプラスチックマトリックス中に分散してそれらを補強するために、微粒子や微小繊維であることが好ましい。固体物質の材質としては、金属、金属化合物、無機物質(無機化合物を含む)、高分子化合物からなるものが挙げられ、好ましくは表面に水酸基を有するものである。上記ケイ素化合物は、分子内にアルコキシシリル基を有するため、アルコキシ基の加水分解等により固体物質表面の水酸基と反応することで、より強固な固着を実現しやすいからである。
 固体物質としての微粒子の平均粒子径、及び、凝集構造の形態をとる場合のBET比表面積、並びに、微小繊維の平均繊維径、及び、平均繊維長さは、上記複合体で用いる固体物質と同じである。また、固体物質として、シリカ微粒子、酸化亜鉛微粒子、酸化チタン微粒子及びチタン酸バリウム微粒子などの粒子表面に水酸基を持つ無機微粒子が好ましい例として挙げられるのも、上記複合体の場合と同様である。
 好ましい実施形態において、固体物質としてシリカを用いてもよい。シリカ表面からグラフト重合を行うことでポリマー相が形成されたポリマーグラフトシリカは、ゴム組成物に配合した場合、ポリマー相の存在によりゴムマトリックスへの分散性が向上すると考えられる。またポリマー鎖がシリカと直接結合することで、ゴムとの混合後においても硬い樹脂相が形成され、補強性が増大するものと考えられる。そのため、発熱の上昇を抑えながら、高弾性化を図ることも可能となる。
 固体物質表面にケイ素化合物を固着させる方法、固着の態様、及び、固着の確認方法については、上記複合体の場合と同様である。
 このようにしてケイ素化合物が固着した固体物質を用いて、該ケイ素化合物からモノマーをリビングラジカル重合させる。これにより、固体物質表面にポリマーグラフト鎖が形成された複合体としての補強剤(以下、ポリマーグラフト補強剤ということがある。)が得られる。該ケイ素化合物からモノマーをリビングラジカル重合させる場合、上記のように遷移金属錯体やアゾ化合物、有機過酸化物を触媒として用いて、ビニルモノマー及びジエンモノマーからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種のモノマーをリビングラジカル重合すればよい。ビニルモノマー及びジエンモノマーの例としては上記したとおりである。
 ポリマーグラフト補強剤において、ポリマーグラフト鎖の量は、固体物質100質量部に対して5~1000質量部であることが好ましい。ポリマーグラフト鎖の量は、より好ましくは固体物質100質量部に対して30~500質量部であり、更に好ましくは50~300質量部である。
 また、該ポリマーグラフト補強剤において、ポリマーグラフト鎖のガラス転移温度(Tg)は特に限定されず、例えば-100℃~150℃の範囲内で適宜設定することができる。例えば、ゴム組成物に配合する場合、ポリマーグラフト鎖のTgが10℃~70℃付近にあれば、60℃付近のtanδを効果的に高めることができ、そのため、高グリップ性が要求されるトレッドゴム用や、防振ゴムなどのエネルギー吸収ゴムに好適である。また、ポリマーグラフト鎖のTgが80℃以上の高温領域にある場合、弾性率を上昇させつつ、室温付近のtanδの上昇を抑えることができ、そのため、低燃費タイヤ用ゴム等に好適である。また、ポリマーグラフト鎖のTgが-10℃以下の低温領域にある場合、0℃付近での弾性率の上昇を抑制しつつ、tanδを上昇させることができ、そのため、高グリップ性のタイヤ用ゴムや、冬用タイヤ用ゴム等として好適である。これらのポリマーグラフト鎖のTgは、ポリマーグラフト鎖を構成するモノマーの種類によって設定可能である。
 該ポリマーグラフト補強剤は、ゴム成分やプラスチック成分に添加して、ゴム組成物やプラスチック組成物を補強するために用いられる。該ポリマーグラフト補強剤を配合することにより、ゴムマトリックスやプラスチックマトリックスへの補強剤(固体物質)の分散性を向上して、ゴム組成物やプラスチック組成物の特性を改良することができる。また、ポリマーグラフト補強剤では、固体物質表面にグラフトポリマー鎖が固着しているため、ゴムマトリックスやプラスチックマトリックスとの混合後においてもポリマーグラフト鎖を保持することができ、高弾性化の効果が発揮されやすい。
 本実施形態に係るゴム組成物によれば、ゴム成分100質量部に対して、該ポリマーグラフト補強剤を1~200質量部にて配合することができる。ポリマーグラフト補強剤の配合量は、より好ましくは10~150質量部であり、更に好ましくは20~100質量部である。ゴム成分の例としては、上記変性ポリマーの利用態様としてのゴム組成物において列挙したものと同じであり、好ましくはジエン系ゴムを用いることである。
 ゴム組成物には、該ポリマーグラフト補強剤の他に、未処理のシリカやカーボンブラックなどの補強性充填剤、シランカップリング剤、オイル、亜鉛華、ステアリン酸、老化防止剤、ワックス、加硫剤、加硫促進剤など、ゴム組成物において一般に使用される各種添加剤を配合することができる。加硫剤の例及び配合量、加硫促進剤の例及び配合量、ゴム組成物の作製方法及び用途、並びに、該ゴム組成物を用いたゴム成形体の製造方法については、上記変性ポリマーの利用態様としてのゴム組成物と同じである。
 本実施形態に係るプラスチック組成物によれば、プラスチック成分100質量部に対して、該ポリマーグラフト補強剤を1~200質量部にて配合することができる。ポリマーグラフト補強剤の配合量は、より好ましくは10~150質量部であり、更に好ましくは20~100質量部である。
 該プラスチック組成物におけるプラスチック成分の例としては、ポリオレフィン、ポリスチレン、ポリアクリレート、ポリメタクリレート、ポリエステル、ポリアミド、ポリウレタン、ポリカーボネート、及び、ポリイミドなどが挙げられ、これらはいずれか1種単独で、又は2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。
 該プラスチック組成物には、上記ポリマーグラフト補強剤の他に、酸化防止剤、可塑剤、架橋剤、無機粒子、ガラス繊維、有機繊維など、プラスチック組成物において一般に使用される各種添加剤を配合することができる。
 該プラスチック組成物は、通常に用いられるミキサーやニーダー等の混合機を用いて、常法に従い混練し作製することができる。このようにして得られるプラスチック組成物の用途は、特に限定されないが、フィルム、容器、コーティング剤、接着剤、自動車部品、断熱材の各種プラスチック組成物に用いることができ、常法に従い、射出成形、圧縮成形などにより、各種プラスチック成形体を得ることができる。
 以下、本発明の実施例を示すが、本発明はこれらの実施例に限定されるものではない。
<ケイ素化合物の合成>
[実施例1]
・6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル 2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネートの合成:
 5-ヘキセン-1-オール(42.6g)とトリエチルアミン(45.8g)とテトラヒドロフラン(0.8L)を混合後、氷冷し、2-ブロモイソブチリルブロミド(100g)を滴下した。その後、反応液を4℃、3時間攪拌し、室温で15時間攪拌した。反応液をろ過し、エバポレーターで濃縮後、ジエチルエーテル(300mL)に溶解させ、それを1Nの塩酸溶液(2×300mL)、飽和炭酸水素ナトリウム溶液(2×300mL)、及び蒸留水(2×300mL)の順で洗浄した。その後、有機層を硫酸ナトリウムで乾燥し、ろ過後、エバポレーターにて濃縮させ、シリカゲルカラム(展開溶媒:ヘキサン/酢酸エチル=15/1)により精製し、濃縮後、下記化学式で表される5-ヘキセニル 2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(化合物1)を74.2g得た。

 次に、化合物1(10.1g)、3-メルカプトプロピルトリエトキシシラン(9.58g:東京化成工業(株)製)、AIBN(0.194g)、及びトルエン(20g)を混合し、窒素ガスで30分バブリングした後、反応溶液を70℃、3時間保持し、エバポレーターにて濃縮後、下記化学式で表される6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル 2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(化合物2)を17.2g得た(収率:88%)。
 以下のNMR結果から、生成物が下記化学式で表される化合物であることを同定した。1H-NMR(400MHz, TMS標準=0.0ppm):1.93(s, 6H, (CH3)2BrC-)、4.17(t, 2H, -(O=C)-O-CH2-)、1.70(m, 2H, -(O=C)-O-CH2-CH 2-)、1.43(t, 4H, -(O=C)-O-CH2-CH2-CH 2-CH 2-)、1.60(t, 2H, O=C-O-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH 2-)、2.5(t, 2H, -CH 2-S-CH2-)、2.53(t, 2H, -CH2-S-CH 2-)、1.69(m, 2H, -CH2-S-CH2-CH 2-)、0.74(t, 2H, -CH 2-Si-(O-CH2-CH3)3)、3.82(q, 6H, -CH2-Si-(O-CH 2-CH3)3)、1.23(t, 9H, -CH2-Si-(O-CH2-CH 3)3).

[実施例2]
・3-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)プロピル 2―ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート:
 2-(2-ブロモ-2-メチル)プロピオン酸アリル(1.5g:シグマアルドリッチ社製)、3-メルカプトプロピルトリエトキシシラン(1.73g)、AIBN(0.036g)、及びトルエン(20g)を混合し、窒素ガスで30分バブリングした後、反応溶液を70℃、3時間保持し、エバポレーターにて濃縮後、下記化学式で表される3-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)プロピル 2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(化合物3)を2.95g得た(収率:91%)。

 実施例1の5-ヘキセン-1-オールの代わりに、10-ウンデセン-1-オールを用い、同様の手順で、下記化学式で表される10-ウンデセニル 2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(化合物4)を得た。

[実施例4]
・6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル 2-ヨード-2-メチルプロパネートの合成:
 実施例1の操作により得られた6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル 2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(5g)とヨウ化ナトリウム(20g)とドライアセトン100mLを混合し、窒素雰囲気下にて75℃で10時間反応させた。反応後、抽出操作を行い、下記化学式で表される6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル 2-ヨード-2-メチルプロパネート(化合物6)を得た。

<ポリマーグラフト補強剤の合成>
[実施例5]
 シリカ(35g:東ソー・シリカ(株)製「ニップシールAQ」、BET比表面積=205m/g)、28質量%のアンモニア水(66g)、及びエタノール1000mLを混合し、1時間攪拌した後、化合物2:6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(10g)を滴下し、室温で16時間攪拌した。得られた溶液から遠心分離機によりシリカを回収し、エタノールおよびアニソールにて洗浄することにより、化合物2が粒子表面に固着したシリカ(重合開始剤導入シリカ)28gを得た。
 次に、得られた重合開始剤導入シリカ(22.9g)、ベンジルメタクリレート(200g)、2-ブロモ酪酸エチル(1.14g)、4,4’-ジノニル-2,2’-ビピリジル(4.54g)、及びアニソール(300g)を混合し、1.5時間窒素バブリングした後、反応溶液に塩化銅(I)(0.56g)を添加し、50℃で5時間保持した。得られた溶液を遠心分離により、固相を分離し、アニソールで洗浄、乾燥後、補強剤1として、シリカとポリマーグラフト鎖との複合体であるポリマーグラフトシリカ(43g)を得た。
[実施例6~8]
 重合開始剤に対するモノマー(ベンジルメタクリレート)の仕込み比(モル比)を、下記表1に示すように変更し、その他は実施例5と同様の手順により、補強剤2~4をそれぞれ得た。
[実施例9]
 モノマーの種類をベンジルメタクリレートからメチルメタクリレートに変更し、その他は、補強剤1の合成と同様の方法で補強剤5としてポリマーグラフトシリカを得た。
[実施例10]
 モノマーの種類をベンジルメタクリレートからトリデシルメタクリレートに変更し、その他は、補強剤1の合成と同様の方法で補強剤6としてポリマーグラフトシリカを得た。
[補強剤のポリマーグラフト量の測定]
 TGA(昇温速度5℃/分、温度範囲50℃~500℃)による測定結果から、下記式(A)に基づき、表1の通りポリマーグラフト量を算出した。

[ポリマーグラフト鎖のガラス転移温度の測定]
 補強剤を、-100℃~150℃の範囲で、昇温速度20℃/分の条件で、DSC測定を行い、ポリマーグラフト鎖のガラス転移温度(Tg)を求めた。

 得られた複合体微粒子のTGA測定より、グラフトポリマー鎖の存在が確認された。また、表1に示すように、モノマーの仕込み比とポリマーグラフト鎖の量は比例関係にあり、シリカ表面からリビング的に重合していることが示された。
[実施例11](酸化亜鉛複合体)
 酸化亜鉛(100g:堺化学工業(株)製「FINEX-30」)、28質量%のアンモニア水(66g)、及びエタノール1000mLを混合し、1時間攪拌した後、化合物2:6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(10g)を滴下し、室温で16時間攪拌した。得られた溶液から遠心分離機により酸化亜鉛を回収し、エタノールおよびアニソールにて洗浄することにより、化合物2が粒子表面に固着した酸化亜鉛(重合開始剤導入酸化亜鉛)82gを得た。
 次に、得られた重合開始剤導入酸化亜鉛(62g)、ベンジルメタクリレート(200g)、2-ブロモ酪酸エチル(1.14g)、4,4’-ジノニル-2,2’-ビピリジル(4.54g)、及びアニソール(300g)を混合し、1.5時間窒素バブリングした後、反応溶液に塩化銅(I)(0.56g)を添加し、50℃で5時間保持した。得られた溶液を遠心分離により、固相を分離し、アニソールで洗浄、乾燥後、補強剤7としてポリマーグラフト酸化亜鉛(75.9g)を得た。得られた補強剤7について、上記補強剤1と同様にしてポリマーグラフト量を測定した。結果を下記表2に示す。

[実施例12](チタン酸バリウム複合体)
 チタン酸バリウム(100g:堺化学工業(株)製「BT01」)、28質量%のアンモニア水(66g)、及びエタノール1000mLを混合し、1時間攪拌した後、化合物2:6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(10g)を滴下し、室温で16時間攪拌した。得られた溶液から遠心分離機によりチタン酸バリウムを回収し、エタノールおよびアニソールにて洗浄することにより、化合物2が粒子表面に固着したチタン酸バリウム(重合開始剤導入チタン酸バリウム)85gを得た。
 次に、得られた重合開始剤導入チタン酸バリウム(68g)、ベンジルメタクリレート(200g)、2-ブロモ酪酸エチル(1.14g)、4,4’-ジノニル-2,2’-ビピリジル(4.54g)、及びアニソール(300g)を混合し、1.5時間窒素バブリングした後、反応溶液に塩化銅(I)(0.56g)を添加し、50℃で5時間保持した。得られた溶液を遠心分離により、固相を分離し、アニソールで洗浄、乾燥後、補強剤8としてポリマーグラフトチタン酸バリウム(82g)を得た。得られた補強剤8について、上記補強剤1と同様にしてポリマーグラフト量を測定した。結果を下記表3に示す。

<変性ポリマーの合成>
[実施例13]
 ベンジルメタクリレート(30g)、化合物2:6-(3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピルチオ)ヘキシル2-ブロモ-2-メチルプロパネート(0.415g)、4,4’-ジノニル-2,2’-ビピリジル(0.70g)、及びアニソール(30g)を混合し、1.5時間窒素バブリングした後、反応溶液に塩化銅(I)(0.081g)を添加し、50℃で5時間保持した。得られた溶液を、エタノールへ再沈精製後、ポリベンジルメタクリレート(ポリマーE1)を得た。
 得られたポリマーE1は、分子末端に、化合物2によるアルコキシシリル基及びチオエーテル基、即ち上記式(4-4)で表される構造(R=エチル、R=R=メチル、a=6、m=n=3)を有する変性ポリマーであった。また、数平均分子量が19000 、重量平均分子量が23000、分子量分布が1.24であった。
 一方、通常のラジカル重合(ベンジルメタクリレート(30g)、AIBN(0.07g)、アニソール(30g)を混合し、1.5時間窒素バブリングした後、70℃、3時間重合した場合)では、得られたポリマーの数平均分子量が34000、重量平均分子量が75000、分子量分布が2.2であった。このことから、実施例13に係るポリマーE1では分子量分布が狭く、従って、化合物2の重合開始剤であれば、リビングラジカル重合が可能であることが示された。
 ここで、分子末端にアルコキシシリル基及びチオエーテル基を有することの確認は、H-NMRおよび13C-NMRによりおこなった。
 また、数平均分子量(Mn)、重量平均分子量(Mw)及び分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は、ゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィ(GPC)での測定により、ポリスチレン換算にて求めた。詳細には、測定試料は0.2mgをTHF1mLに溶解させたものを用いた。(株)島津製作所製「LC-20DA」を使用し、試料をフィルター透過後、温度40℃、流量0.7mL/分でカラム(Polymer Laboratories社製「PL Gel3μm Guard×2」)を通し、Spectra System社製「RI Detector」で検出した。
[実施例14]
 モノマーの種類をベンジルメタクリレートからメチルメタクリレートに代え、その他は、ポリマーE1と同様の方法で、分子末端にアルコキシシリル基及びチオエーテル基を有する変性ポリマーであるポリメチルメタクリレート(ポリマーE2)を得た。該ポリマーE2は、数平均分子量が15000、重量平均分子量が18000、分子量分布が1.2であった。
[実施例15]
 モノマーの種類をベンジルメタクリレートからトリデシルメタクリレートに代え、その他は、ポリマーE1と同様の方法で、分子末端にアルコキシシリル基及びチオエーテル基を有する変性ポリマーであるポリトリデシルメタクリレート(ポリマーE3)を得た。該ポリマーE3は、数平均分子量が23000、重量平均分子量が29000、分子量分布が1.26であった。
[比較例1]
 ベンジルメタクリレート(30g)、2-ブロモ酪酸エチル(0.66g)、4,4’-ジノニル-2,2’-ビピリジル(1.4g)、及びアニソール(30g)を混合し、1.5時間窒素バブリングした後、反応溶液に塩化銅(I)(0.17g)を添加し、50℃で5時間保持した。得られた溶液を、エタノールへ再沈精製後、変性されてないポリベンジルメタクリレート(ポリマーC1)を得た。該ポリマーC1は、数平均分子量が19000、重量平均分子量が23000、分子量分布が1.24であった。
[比較例2]
 モノマーの種類をベンジルメタクリレートからメチルメタクリレートに代え、その他は、ポリマーC1と同様の方法で、変性されていないポリメチルメタクリレート(ポリマーC2)を得た。該ポリマーC2は、数平均分子量が16000 、重量平均分子量が19000、分子量分布が1.2であった。
[比較例3]
 モノマーの種類をベンジルメタクリレートからトリデシルメタクリレートに代え、その他は、ポリマーC1と同様の方法で、変性されていないポリトリデシルメタクリレート(ポリマーC3)を得た。該ポリマーC3は、数平均分子量が24000、重量平均分子量が30000、分子量分布が1.25であった。
<ゴム組成物の評価>
[実施例16~18及び比較例4,5]
 バンバリーミキサーを使用し、下記表4に示す配合(質量部)に従って、まず、第一混合段階で、ゴム成分に対し硫黄及び加硫促進剤を除く他の配合剤を添加し混練し(排出温度=160℃)、次いで、得られた混練物に、最終混合段階で、硫黄と加硫促進剤を添加し混練して(排出温度=90℃)、ゴム組成物を調製した。表4中の各成分の詳細は、以下の通りである。
・SBR:スチレンブタジエンゴム、JSR(株)製「SBR1502」
・シリカ:東ソー・シリカ(株)製「ニップシールAQ」
・シランカップリング剤:ビス(3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル)テトラスルフィド、エボニック・デグサ社製「Si69」
・亜鉛華:三井金属鉱業(株)製「亜鉛華1種」
・老化防止剤:大内新興化学工業(株)製「ノクラック6C」
・ステアリン酸:花王(株)製「ルナックS-20」
・硫黄:細井化学工業(株)製「ゴム用粉末硫黄150メッシュ」
・加硫促進剤:大内新興化学工業(株)製「ノクセラーCZ」
・2次加硫促進剤:大内新興化学工業(株)製「ノクセラーD」
 得られた各ゴム組成物について、160℃×20分で加硫して所定形状の試験片を作製し、得られた試験片を用いて、25℃での動的弾性率E及びtanδ、60℃での動的弾性率E及びtanδを測定した。各測定方法は次の通りである。
・25℃動的弾性率E:UBM社製レオスペクトロメーターE4000を用いて、周波数50Hz、静歪み10%、動歪み2%、温度25℃の条件で動的弾性率Eを測定した。
・25℃tanδ:UBM社製レオスペクトロメーターE4000を用いて、周波数50Hz、静歪み10%、動歪み2%、温度25℃の条件で損失係数tanδを測定した。
・60℃動的弾性率E,60℃tanδ:温度を60℃に変え、その他は25℃動的弾性率E及び25℃tanδと同様にして測定した。
 結果は表4に示す通りであり、コントロールである比較例4に対し、比較例5では、変性なしのポリマーC1を添加することにより、動的弾性率およびtanδ値が上昇した。一方、変性ポリマーE1を配合した実施例16では、比較例4に比べて、大幅に動的弾性率およびtanδ値が上昇した。ポリマーグラフトシリカである補強剤1を配合した実施例17では、実施例16よりも更に動的弾性率が上昇した。また、補強性充填剤の全量をポリマーグラフトシリカである補強剤2とした実施例18では、実施例17よりもさらに動的弾性率が上昇した。比較例5、実施例16~18ではゴム配合中のシリカ成分とポリベンジルメタクリレート成分(補強剤1,2ではグラフトしているポリベンジルメタクリレート)はほぼ同量である。しかしながら、比較例5ではポリベンジルメタクリレートが孤立相として存在していると考えられるのに対し、実施例17と実施例18ではポリベンジルメタクリレートがすべてシリカに結合しているため、動的弾性率とtanδが効果的に上昇している。また、実施例16ではポリベンジルメタクリレート成分末端に、シリカ表面のシラノール基と反応可能なエトキシシリル基が存在するため、比較例5と比べて、よりシリカ周辺にポリベンジルメタクリレート成分が存在し、動的弾性率とtanδが効率的に上昇している。このような60℃付近に大きなエネルギーロスを示すゴムは高グリップ性が要求されるトレッドゴム配合や、エネルギー吸収ゴムとして好適である。

[実施例19,20及び比較例6]
 バンバリーミキサーを使用し、下記表5に示す配合(質量部)に従って、実施例16と同様にしてゴム組成物を調製し、得られた各ゴム組成物から作製した試験片を用いて、25℃での動的弾性率E及びtanδを測定した。
 結果は、表5に示す通りであり、コントロールである比較例4に対し、比較例6では、変性なしのポリメチルメタクリレートであるポリマーC2を配合することにより動的弾性率が上昇している。これに対し、変性ポリメチルメタクリレートであるポリマーE2を配合した実施例19では、さらに動的弾性率が上昇した。また、ポリマーグラフトシリカである補強剤5を配合した実施例20では、さらに動的弾性率が上昇した。一方、tanδ値は、ポリメチルメタクリレートのガラス転移温度は高温領域にあるため、室温付近のtanδ値の上昇は抑制されていた。そのため、実施例19及び20のゴム組成物は、低燃費タイヤ用ゴム等に好適である。

[実施例21,22及び比較例7]
 バンバリーミキサーを使用し、下記表6に示す配合(質量部)に従って、実施例16と同様にしてゴム組成物を調製し、得られた各ゴム組成物から作製した試験片を用いて、0℃での動的弾性率E及びtanδ、25℃での動的弾性率E及びtanδを測定した。0℃での動的弾性率E及びtanδの測定方法は、温度を0℃に変え、その他は25℃動的弾性率E及び25℃tanδと同様にして測定した。
 結果は表6に示す通りであり、コントロールである比較例4に対し、比較例7では、変性なしのポリトリデシルメタクリレートであるポリマーC3を配合することにより、低温領域でのtanδ値が上昇した。これに対し、変性ポリトリデシルメタクリレートであるポリマーE3を配合した実施例21では、さらにtanδ値を上昇させることができた。ポリマーグラフトシリカである補強剤6を配合した実施例22でも同様にtanδ値が上昇した。また、ポリトリデシルメタクリレートのガラス転移温度は低温領域に存在するため、動的弾性率の上昇を抑制しつつ、低温領域でのtanδ値を上昇させることができた。そのため、実施例21及び22のゴム組成物は、高グリップ性のタイヤ用ゴムや、冬用タイヤ用ゴム等として好適である。

 表4~6に示されたように、上記ポリマーを添加することによる動的粘弾性の違いは、ポリマーの種類を変えることにより制御可能である。
 以上の結果は、本実施形態のケイ素化合物を重合開始剤として用いてモノマーを重合することにより、末端にアルコキシシリル基を導入された変性ポリマーが得られ、モノマーを適宜選択することにより、ゴム組成物の動的粘弾性を効率的かつ任意に制御できることを示している。また、補強剤にグラフト形成させるポリマー(使用するモノマー)の選択により、ゴム組成物の動的粘弾性を効率的かつ任意に制御できることを示している。当然、変性ポリマーやグラフトポリマーは2つ以上の種類からなる共重合体やブロック共重合体でもよく、2つ以上の種類の変性ポリマーや補強剤をゴム成分に配合してもよい。
<プラスチック組成物の評価>
[実施例23及び比較例8,9]
 2軸混練機(プラスチック工学研究所製)を使用して、表7に示す配合(質量部)に従って、溶融混練してペレット化した。得られたペレットを単軸押出機で幅350mm、厚み0.2mmのフィルムにTダイ成形した。表7中の成分の詳細は以下の通りである。
・ポリエステル:東洋紡製「ペルプレンP30B」
・シリカ:東ソー・シリカ(株)製「ニップシールAQ」
 得られた各フィルムについて、以下の方法により、空気透過係数を測定した。
・空気透過係数:JIS K7126-1に準拠して、株式会社東洋精機製作所製のガス透過率測定装置「BT-3」を用いて、試験気体:空気、試験温度:80℃にて空気透過係数を測定し、比較例8のフィルムの空気透過係数を100とした指数で表示した。指数が小さいほど空気透過係数が小さく、ガスバリア性に優れる。
 結果は表7に示す通りであり、ポリエステルにシリカとポリマーC1を混合した比較例9に対して、補強剤1を添加した実施例23では空気透過係数が低下した。これは、補強剤1ではシリカにポリマーがグラフトしているため、ポリエステルマトリックス中に高分散することで、空気分子の透過パスを効率的に長くする効果によるものである。一方、単独でシリカを添加した比較例9では空気分子の透過パスを長くする効果があるものの、分散性が実施例23に及ばす、その効果が限定的になったものと考えられる。このようなプラスチック組成物は容器、包装材料等に応用できる。

 本実施形態に係るケイ素化合物は、例えばラジカル重合開始剤として用いることができ、また、そのラジカル重合開始能を利用して、ポリマーの製造や、ゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤などの固体物質とポリマーグラフト鎖からなる複合体の製造に用いることができる。

Claims (22)

  1.  下記一般式(1)で表されるケイ素化合物。

     式中、Aはラジカル重合開始能を有する基である。Z及びZはそれぞれ独立に少なくとも炭素原子を含む2価の基である。R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。nは1~3の整数である。
  2.  前記Aが下記一般式(2)又は一般式(3)で表される請求項1記載のケイ素化合物。

     式中、R、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素、水素、酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造であり、R、R及びRのうち少なくとも1つはハロゲンである。

     式中、Rは炭素、水素、酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造である。
  3.  前記Aが下記式(4-1)で表され、前記Zが下記式(4-2)で表され、前記Zが下記式(4-3)で表される請求項1記載のケイ素化合物。

     式中、Xはハロゲンである。R及びRはそれぞれ独立に水素又は炭素数1~3のアルキル基であるが、ともに水素であることはない。aは3~11の整数である。mは1~3の整数である。
  4.  下記一般式(6)で表される化合物と下記一般式(7)で表される化合物を反応させる工程を含むことを特徴とする、下記一般式(5)で表されるケイ素化合物の製造方法。

     式中、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。R、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素、水素、酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造であり、R、R及びRのうち少なくとも1つはハロゲンである。Z、Z及びZはそれぞれ独立に少なくとも炭素原子を含む2価の基である。nは1~3の整数である。
  5.  前記一般式(6)で表される化合物が下記一般式(8)で表され、前記一般式(7)で表される化合物が下記一般式(9)で表され、前記一般式(5)で表されるケイ素化合物が下記一般式(4)で表される請求項4記載の製造方法。

     式中、Xはハロゲンである。R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。R及びRはそれぞれ独立に水素又は炭素数1~3のアルキル基であるが、ともに水素であることはない。aは3~11の整数である。mは1~3の整数である。nは1~3の整数である。
  6.  ラジカル発生剤を反応触媒として用いて前記一般式(6)で表される化合物と前記一般式(7)で表される化合物を反応させることを特徴とする請求項4記載の製造方法。
  7.  請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のケイ素化合物からなるラジカル重合開始剤。
  8.  請求項7記載のラジカル重合開始剤を用いて、モノマーをラジカル重合またはリビングラジカル重合することを特徴とするポリマーの製造方法。
  9.  請求項8記載の方法により得られた末端にアルコキシシリル基を有するポリマー。
  10.  モノマーをリビングラジカル重合してなるポリマー鎖と、前記ポリマー鎖の一末端に下記式(1-1)で表される構造を有する請求項9記載のポリマー。

     式中、R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。R及びRはそれぞれ独立に炭素、水素、酸素、窒素、ハロゲン及び硫黄からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つで構成される構造である。Z及びZはそれぞれ独立に少なくとも炭素原子を含む2価の基である。nは1~3の整数である。
  11.  請求項9又は10記載のポリマーを、ゴム成分100質量部に対して0.1~100質量部含有することを特徴とするゴム組成物。
  12.  固体物質表面に請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のケイ素化合物を固着させ、固着したケイ素化合物からモノマーをリビングラジカル重合してポリマーグラフト鎖を形成することを特徴とする複合体の製造方法。
  13.  前記固体物質が、シリカ微粒子、酸化亜鉛微粒子、酸化チタン微粒子及びチタン酸バリウム微粒子からなる群から選択される少なくとも一種であることを特徴とする請求項12記載の複合体の製造方法。
  14.  前記モノマーが、ビニルモノマー及びジエンモノマーからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種であることを特徴とする請求項12記載の複合体の製造方法。
  15.  前記モノマーのリビングラジカル重合により形成されたポリマーグラフト鎖の量が、前記固体物質100質量部に対して5~1000質量部であることを特徴とする請求項12記載の複合体の製造方法。
  16.  請求項12~15のいずれか1項に記載の方法により得られる複合体。
  17.  請求項16に記載の複合体からなる成形体。
  18.  固体物質表面に請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のケイ素化合物を固着させ、固着したケイ素化合物のラジカル重合開始能を有する基を重合開始点として、ラジカル重合可能なモノマーをリビングラジカル重合することを特徴とするゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤の製造方法。
  19.  請求項18に記載の製造方法により得られ、前記固体物質表面のポリマーグラフト鎖の量が、前記固体物質100質量部に対して5~1000質量部であることを特徴とするゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤。
  20.  前記固体物質がシリカ微粒子、酸化亜鉛微粒子、酸化チタン微粒子及びチタン酸バリウム微粒子からなる群から選択される少なくとも一種であることを特徴とする請求項19記載のゴム又はプラスチック用補強剤。
  21.  ゴム成分100質量部に対して、請求項19又は20に記載の補強剤を1~200質量部含有することを特徴とするゴム組成物。
  22.  プラスチック成分100質量部に対して、請求項19又は20に記載の補強剤を1~200質量部含有することを特徴とするプラスチック組成物。
