Definitions
- the present invention relates to an aramid fiber cord and a method for manufacturing the same, more specifically, having a high strength and at the same time excellent disk fatigue characteristics when used as a tire reinforcement material can minimize the deterioration of properties due to high-speed running for a long time Aramid fiber cord and a method for producing the same.
- Fiber cords in particular adhesive treated fiber cords, are widely used as reinforcements for rubber products such as tires, conveyor belts, V-belts, hoses and the like.
- Materials of the fiber cord include nylon fibers, polyester fibers, rayon fibers and the like.
- One of the important ways to improve the performance of the final rubber product is to improve the physical properties of the fiber cords used as reinforcement.
- nylon fibers with good elongation and strength are used for tires in heavy road surfaces such as heavy trucks and unpaved roads with heavy loads.
- nylon fibers have a low modulus and are therefore not suitable for racing vehicles running at high speeds and tires of passenger cars requiring good riding comfort.
- Polyester fiber has a trend of increasing its usage in the tire cord field because of its excellent shape stability and price competitiveness compared to nylon fiber, but is not suitable for tires of high-speed driving vehicles due to its low heat resistance and low adhesion to rubber.
- Rayon fiber a regenerated cellulose fiber, shows excellent strength retention and morphological stability at high temperatures.
- rayon fiber is strongly deteriorated by moisture, thorough moisture management is required when manufacturing tires, and above all, there is a problem in that the strength is very low compared to other materials.
- the tire reinforcing fiber cords are required to have a much higher strength and modulus than can be obtained by polyester fibers or nylon fibers. Fibers capable of providing such high strength and modulus are so-called aromatic polyamide fibers called aramids.
- the tire temperature increases due to friction during driving of the vehicle, and in particular, the tire cord reinforcing fiber cord is also exposed to fatigue conditions at high temperature and high pressure as the state of high temperature and high pressure is maintained for a long time during high speed driving.
- the fatigue resistance of the fiber cord is low, physical properties, particularly strength, may be drastically lowered by repeated tension / contraction, which may significantly reduce the running performance of the tire.
- the present invention relates to an aramid fiber cord and a method of manufacturing the same that can prevent the problems caused by the above limitations and disadvantages of the related art.
- One aspect of the present invention is to provide an aramid fiber cord having a high strength and at the same time excellent fatigue resistance and disk fatigue characteristics when used as a tire reinforcement material can minimize the degradation of physical properties due to long running speed.
- Another aspect of the present invention is to provide a method for producing aramid fiber cord having a high strength and at the same time excellent fatigue resistance and disk fatigue characteristics when used as a tire reinforcement material can minimize the degradation of physical properties due to long-term high-speed running It is.
- aramid conjugated yarn (cabled yarn); And an adhesive applied to the outer surface of the aramid twisted yarn, wherein the penetration rate of the adhesive into the aramid twisted yarn is 3.5 to 9%.
- a method for producing an aramid fiber cord is provided.
- the aramid fiber cord according to the present invention is excellent in disk fatigue characteristics while satisfying strength characteristics generally required for tire cords such as heavy equipment vehicles, racing vehicles, aircrafts, and agricultural vehicles. Therefore, when the aramid fiber cord of the present invention is used as a reinforcing material of the tire, deterioration of physical properties due to long time high speed running can be minimized.
- FIG. 1 is a view schematically showing a system for producing aramid fibers according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- multifilament' refers to a bundle of monofilaments formed by the solidification of the spinning dope spun through the spinneret.
- single yarn refers to a single strand of yarn made by twisting a multifilament in either direction, and the twist of the single yarn is referred to as "lower lead”.
- 'cabled yarn' refers to a yarn made by twisting two or more single yarns together in either direction, and is also referred to as a 'raw cord'.
- the twisted twisted yarn is called 'stage'.
- the lower edge gives the yarn a counterclockwise twist (Z-twist) and the upper edge gives the yarn a clockwise twist (S-twist).
- 'twist number' refers to the number of twists per meter, and the unit is TPM (Twist Per Meter).
- 'fiber cord' generally refers to a twisted yarn containing an adhesive so as to be directly embedded in a rubber product, and may also be referred to as a 'dipped cord'.
- an adhesive-impregnated fabric which is prepared by making a fabric from a twisted yarn and then dipping the fabric into an adhesive solution, is also included in the 'fiber cord' of the present invention.
- the term 'permeation rate of the adhesive into the twisted yarn' is defined by the following formula:
- A1 is the area of the first polygon formed by connecting the outermost monofilaments in the fiber cord cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber cord
- A2 is in the fiber cord cross section The area of the second polygon formed by connecting monofilaments that are only partially in contact with the adhesive.
- 'strength at 3% elongation' refers to the strength value when the elongation is 3% in the tensile-load graph of a twisted yarn containing an adhesive.
- 'strength at 3% elongation' is the value of 'strength at 3% elongation' divided by the fineness of the aramid fiber cord.
- FIG. 1 shows a system for producing aramid fibers according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- spinning dope prepared by dissolving an aromatic polyamide polymer having an inherent viscosity (IV) of 5.0 to 7.0, for example, poly (paraphenylene terephthalamide: PPD-T) in a concentrated sulfuric acid solvent. After spinning using a spinneret (100) to form a multifilament by spinning in a coagulation bath (200) via an air gap (air gap).
- sulfuric acid remaining in the obtained multifilament is removed.
- Sulfuric acid used in the manufacture of the spinning dope may remain but is not removed completely, although most of the emissions are passed through the coagulation bath 200.
- sulfuric acid is added to the coagulating liquid of the coagulation tank 200 in order to make sulfuric acid escape uniformly from a radiate, sulfuric acid is likely to remain in the multifilament obtained. Since the amount of sulfuric acid remaining in the multifilament may adversely affect the aramid fiber properties no matter how small the amount, it is very important to completely remove the sulfuric acid remaining in the multifilament. Sulfuric acid remaining in the multifilament may be removed through a washing process using water or a mixed solution of water and an alkaline solution.
- the washing process may be performed in a multi-step process, for example, first washing with multi-filament containing sulfuric acid in a first washing tank 300 containing 0.3 to 1.3% of an aqueous caustic solution, and then The second washing in the second washing tank 400 containing 0.01 to 0.1% of the thinner caustic aqueous solution.
- First and second flushing rolls 310 and 410 are installed in the first and second flushing tanks 300 and 400, respectively, to move the multifilament.
- the filament may reach the drying roll 510 in the drying unit 500, or the moisture content of the filament may be adjusted by controlling the temperature of the drying roll 510.
- the dried multifilament is heat-treated in the heat treatment unit 600 including a plurality of heat treatment rolls 610 to complete the aramid multifilament.
- the aramid multifilament of the present invention has a strength of 10 to 25 g / d, a modulus of 400 to 750 g / d, and an elongation at break of 2 to 6%.
- Aramid multifilament of the present invention has a total fineness of 800 to 10,000 denier (denier), may be composed of 500 to 1,200 monofilaments. It is preferable that the single yarn fineness of the said monofilament is 1-2 denier.
- Aramid single yarn is prepared by pinching the aramid multifilament prepared as described above using a twisting machine. Subsequently, aramid twisted yarn is prepared by stitching two strands of aramid single yarn together.
- the aramid single yarn is manufactured by giving a twist in Z-direction to the multifilament in the first soft water, and the aramid conjugated yarn is combined with the second soft water in the second soft water It is manufactured by giving a twist in S-direction.
- the first and second soft water is 200 to 600 TPM (Twist Per Meter). If the soft water is less than 200 TPM, the strength of the aramid-ply twisted yarn is high, but the breaking elongation of the fiber cord manufactured using the same decreases and the adhesive strength with the rubber decreases. On the other hand, when the soft water exceeds 600 TPM, the strength of the fiber cords manufactured using such aramid twisted yarns does not meet the extent required by the industry.
- the aramid twisted yarn prepared as above is immersed in a resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) solution.
- RFL resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex
- the RFL adhesive solution comprises 1.0 to 3.0% by weight of resorcinol, 2.0 to 4.0% by weight of formalin (37%), 0.5 to 1.5% by weight of sodium hydroxide (10%), 35 to 55 weight percent styrene / butadiene / vinylpyridine (15/70/15) rubber (41%), and water.
- the tension can be adjusted by varying the rotational speed ratio between the front and rear rolls in the dipping bath.
- the tension is less than 0.2 kg / cord
- the adhesive penetration into the twisted yarn exceeds 9%.
- the adhesive penetration into the twisted yarn exceeds 9%, not only the strength of the aramid fiber cord is lowered, but also the disk fatigue property does not satisfy the level required by the industry.
- the tension is less than 0.2 kg / cord due to the twisted twisted yarns, the twisted yarns are separated from the rolls due to deflection, which affects workability.
- the aramid fiber cord which contains the RFL solution by dipping, is dried at 105 to 200 ° C. for 10 to 400 seconds and then heat treated at 240 to 280 ° C. for 10 to 400 seconds to complete the aramid fiber cord.
- the drying process is for removing moisture present in the aramid twisted yarn
- the heat treatment process is for imparting adhesion to the aramid fiber cord with rubber by reacting the RFL adhesive solution contained in the aramid twisted yarn.
- the drying and heat treatment times are each shorter than the above ranges, or if the drying and heat treatment temperatures are each lower than the above ranges, the adhesion of the aramid fiber cord with the rubber is low. On the contrary, even when the drying and heat treatment times are longer than the above ranges or the drying and heat treatment temperatures are higher than the above ranges, the excessive heat reduces not only the adhesion of the aramid fiber cord to the rubber but also the physical properties such as strength and fatigue resistance. .
- the strength at 3% elongation of the aramid fiber cord of the present invention prepared as above is 6.3 to 8 g / d, after the disc fatigue test conducted according to the JIS-L 1017 method of the Japanese Standard Association (JSA). Strong retention rate is more than 95%.
- the strength retention after the disk fatigue test performed in more severe conditions than the JSA JIS-L-1017 method in terms of tensile, compression and time is 80% or more. Therefore, the aramid fiber cord of the present invention can be used as a cord of a tire requiring high performance.
- Spinning dope was prepared by dissolving poly (paraphenylene terephthalamide: PPD-T) having an intrinsic viscosity (I.V.) of 5.5 in 100% concentrated sulfuric acid solvent.
- Aramid multifilament was prepared by spinning the spinning dope through a spinneret and then coagulating in a coagulation bath containing 13% aqueous sulfuric acid solution through a 7 mm air gap.
- the aramid multifilament was first washed in a first water bath containing 0.5% aqueous caustic solution, followed by a second water containing 0.05% thinner caustic solution. Second washing in the Sejo.
- the resulting aramid multifilament was rolled counterclockwise at 350 TPM using Alma Co.'s Ring type twister to prepare aramid single yarn, and then the two aramid single yarns together were 350 TPM.
- Aramid plywood was prepared by staging in the clockwise direction.
- aramid plywood yarn was 2.0% by weight of resorcinol, 3.2% by weight of formalin (37%), 1.1% by weight of sodium hydroxide (10%), 43.9% by weight of styrene / butadiene / vinylpyridine (15/70). / 15) Dipping into resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) adhesive solution comprising rubber (41%), and water.
- RTL resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex
- the aramid fabric twisted yarn containing the RFL solution by dipping was dried at 150 ° C. for 100 seconds and then heat treated at 240 ° C. for 100 seconds to complete the aramid fiber cord.
- Aramid fiber cords were prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the tension applied when dipping the aramid twisted yarn into the RFL adhesive solution was as shown in Table 1 below.
- Example 2 Comparative example Size of tension when dipping (kg / cord) One 2 6
- Adhesive penetration rate, strength at 3% elongation, breaking strength, and disk fatigue properties of the aramid fiber cords obtained by Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples were measured by the following methods, and the results are shown in Table 2 below. Indicated.
- the aramid fiber cord out of the metal mold with a sharp object was cut in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. Then, using an optical microscope with a magnification of 200 times, the area of the first polygon formed by connecting the outermost monofilaments in the cross section of the fiber cord, and only partially contacting the adhesive in the cross section of the fiber cord The areas of the second polygons formed by connecting the monofilaments were measured. The adhesive penetration into the twisted yarn was then calculated using the following formula:
- A1 is the area of the first polygon formed by connecting the outermost monofilaments in the fiber cord cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber cord
- A2 is in the fiber cord cross section The area of the second polygon formed by connecting monofilaments that are only partially in contact with the adhesive.
- the strength at 3% elongation was determined by reading the strength value at 3% elongation from the tensile-load graph measured according to the strength measurement test method of the aramid fiber cord and dividing the read strength value by the fineness of the aramid fiber cord. .
- Samples were prepared by vulcanizing aramid fiber cords measured for strength (pre-fatigue strength) to rubber, and then using a disk fatigue tester according to the JIS-L 1017 method of the Japanese Standard Association (JSA).
- JSA Japanese Standard Association
- the sample was subjected to fatigue by repeating tension and contraction for 8 hours in a range of ⁇ 2% while rotating at a speed of 2500 rpm at 80 ° C.
- fatigue and tension were repeatedly applied for 16 hours in the range of + 3 / -10%.
- the strength after fatigue of the aramid fiber cord was measured. Based on the strength before fatigue and strength after fatigue, strength retention defined by the following equation was calculated.
- Strength retention (%) strength after fatigue (kgf) / strength before fatigue (kgf) ⁇ 100
