Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé pour enrichir en lithium des solutions de nature chlorée tout en appauvrissant ces dernières en magnésium, lesdites solutions présentant des teneurs en magnésium élevées par rapport à leur teneur en lithium. Selon le procédé de l'invention, du chlorure de potassium (KCl) est ajouté à la solution qui présente des teneurs minimales en Li+ de 4 g/l et en Mg2+ de 60 g/l et dont la concentration par évaporation doit être augmentée; le KCl réagit au moins partiellement avec le MgCl2 de la solution pour former du carnallite de potassium, le MgCl2 étant séparé sous forme de carnallite de potassium, la quantité de KCl ajoutée étant calculée de sorte que la composition de la solution mère s'approche du niveau de saturation en carnallite (carnallite de potassium) et en KCl pour éviter ainsi la formation de carnallite de lithium.
