これらの図において、自動改札機の本体1は、該自動改札機の通路(以下、単に通路という)3を挟んで両側に配置される1対の逆U字形状の枠体2と、該1対の各枠体2にそれぞれ対称的に配置される揺動型開き戸4及び該揺動型開き戸4の駆動装置6を支持する支持体2Aと、を備えている。
自動改札機の本体1には、利用者7が携帯する乗車券8を処理する乗車券処理装置5A,5Bが配置される。
まず、図2(a)に示すように、揺動型開き戸4が真下から通路3の垂直面に沿って上方に所定角度回転した斜め下向きの状態にある時は、通路3は閉じた状態となっている。
この状態で、図2(b)に示すように、利用者7が乗車券8を乗車券処理装置5にかざすと、揺動型開き戸4は駆動装置6によって垂直面に沿って真下に垂下した状態に駆動されて、通路3を開いた状態となり、利用者7は通路3を通過することができる。

以下、点灯表示装置の動作について詳細に説明する。
図3(a)に示すように、自動改札機の本体11に配置される乗車券処理装置15Aに手前側から向こう側へ進む利用者17が乗車券18をかざすと、図3(b)に示すように、揺動型開き戸14は利用者17に対向する面の点灯表示装置14Aを、利用者17の通過を許容する色、例えば青色(又は緑色)に点灯表示させながら通路13の垂直面に沿って移動する。そして、図3(c)に示すように、揺動型開き戸14は真下に垂下して通路13を開いた状態となり、点灯表示装置14Aによる通過許容色(青色,緑色等)の点灯表示は消灯する。
図5は本発明の第2実施例を示す腕木型車載自動改札機に手前の方向からアクセスする場合の動作を示す図、図6はその腕木型車載自動改札機に向こうの方向からアクセスする場合の動作を示す図である。これらの図5,6では、図1,図2の各構成要素と対応する構成要素の符号(番号)に20を加えて示す。すなわち、自動改札機の本体21、逆U字形状の枠体22、支持体22A、通路23、揺動型開き戸24、表示手段24A,24B、乗車券処理装置25A,25B、揺動型開き戸24の駆動装置26、利用者27、乗車券28としてある。
図7は本発明の第3実施例を示す腕木型車載自動改札機に手前の方向からアクセスする場合の動作を示す図、図8はその腕木型車載自動改札機に向こうの方向からアクセスする場合の動作を示す図である。これらの図7,8では、図1,図2の各構成要素と対応する構成要素の符号(番号)に30を加えて示す。すなわち、自動改札機の本体31、逆U字形状の枠体32、支持体32A、通路33、揺動型開き戸34、表示手段34A,34B、乗車券処理装置35A,35B、揺動型開き戸34の駆動装置36、利用者37、乗車券38としてある。
点灯表示装置による点灯表示は、上記した色による表示、文字による表示、または図形による表示を点滅させることにより、より利用者の注意を喚起することができる。
また、通過の可否(許容/停止)をブザーにより報知するようにしてもよい。
さらに、通過の可否(許容/停止)を音声により報知するようにしてもよい。音声の利用では、視覚障害者に対するバリアフリー対策にもなる利点がある。
このように、自動改札機にほぼ同時に両側から利用者がアクセスしても、早くアクセスした利用者の進入を許容し、もう一方の側の利用者は進入が停止されるので、円滑な案内を行うことができる。
更に、(1)車載可能なコンパクトな自動改札機を実現できる。(2)扉の両側のスペースに設置可能な自動改札機を実現できる。(3)省電力化が可能となるため、車両の電源事情(電子機器を駆動するような品質の良い電源の確保が難しい)を考慮した自動改札機が実現できる。(4)万が一、電源の故障が発生したときは電源がOFFとなるように構成することにより開き戸の自重でゲートが開放状態となり、乗客が乗降できなくなるといった状況を回避できる。(5)車載用の設計ではあるが、省電力型の自動改札機として地上(駅など)にも設置して利用することも可能である。

前記通路の通行方向両側でそれぞれなされる乗車券の操作に応じて、前記揺動型開き戸が斜め下向きの揺動角度位置で前記通路を閉状態とし、前記揺動型開き戸が真下に垂下した位置で前記通路を開状態とするように、前記駆動装置を制御する乗車券処理装置と、
前記揺動型開き戸の通行方向に対向する両面にそれぞれ設けられ、前記乗車券処理装置の動作により、それぞれ対向する利用者に、自動改札機の通過の可否を表示する表示手段と、
を含んで構成される自動改札機。 - 前記表示手段は点灯表示装置であり、前記揺動型開き戸の両面のうち、対向する利用者への通過を許可する側の点灯表示装置に通過を許容する色を点灯表示し、反対側の点灯表示装置に通過の停止を警告する色を点灯表示する機能を含む請求項1に記載の自動改札機。
