前記複数の絵素電極のうち1つの絵素電極に着目したとき、
当該絵素電極は、当該絵素電極と重なっている前記走査信号線によって駆動されていることとできる。
前記第1基板には、蓄積容量線と蓄積容量対向電極とが形成されており、
前記蓄積容量線の主たる部分が、平面視において、隣接する前記絵素電極の間の領域に形成されていることとできる。
前記複数の絵素電極のうちの1つの絵素電極に着目したとき、
前記蓄積容量線のうち、当該絵素電極に接続された蓄積容量対向電極と対向する蓄積容量線は、当該絵素電極と平面視において重なっているのに対して、
蓄積容量線のうち、当該絵素電極に接続された蓄積容量対向電極と対向しない蓄積容量線は、当該絵素電極と平面視において重なっていないこととできる。
前記第1基板には、反射膜が設けられていることとできる。
前記反射膜と前記スイッチング素子とが平面視において重なっていることとできる。
前記反射膜と前記走査信号線とが平面視において重なっていることとできる。

本発明の一実施の形態について図に基づいて説明すると以下の通りである。
図1は、本実施の形態の液晶表示装置10の概略構成を示す図である。
そして、本実施の形態における絵素電極60は、横長の形状を有している。
前記絵素14の構成について、より詳しく説明する。
つぎに、前記図1に基づいて、本実施の形態における液晶表示装置10について、各配線等の寸法例について説明する。なお、以下に説明する各寸法は例示であり、かかる構成に限定されるものではない。
つぎに、前記図1のA-A線断面に相当する図である図2に基づいて、本実施の形態の液晶表示装置10の断面構成、特には配向制御部100について説明する。
そして、いわゆるアレイ側の基板である第1基板22には、前記走査信号線32と蓄積容量線36とが形成されている。その上層には、絶縁膜70としての、ゲート絶縁膜72が形成されている。
つぎに、第2基板について説明する。
ここで、本実施の形態における配向制御部100について説明する。
つぎに、本実施の形態における前記配向制御部100と走査信号線32との位置関係について説明する。
つぎに、本実施の形態における前記走査信号線32と前記サブピクセル電極接続部65との位置関係について説明する。
つぎに、蓄積容量線36について説明する。本実施の形態における蓄積容量線36は、先に説明した通り、横方向であるX方向に延設されている。そして、前記縦方向であるY方向において隣接した絵素14(絵素電極60)の間の領域に、平面視において、その主たる部分が位置するように設けられている。また、前記蓄積容量線36と蓄積容量を形成するための蓄積容量対向電極40が、ゲート絶縁膜72を介して、前記蓄積容量線36の上層の対応する位置に形成されている。
前記サブピクセルの他の配置例について図4から図7に基づいて説明する。図4から図7は、上記実施の形態について、サブピクセルの配置を変更した液晶表示装置10の概略構成を示す図である。
なお、前記絵素14は、必ずしも複数のサブピクセル15に分割される必要はなく、例えば、図7に示すように、絵素14を1個の絵素電極60で形成しても良い。
本発明の第2の実施の形態について図8に基づいて説明すれば、以下の通りである。図8は、本発明の他の実施の形態を示すものであり、液晶表示装置の概略構成を示す図である。
また、かかる切り欠き100bの形状は、前記図8に示したような長方形型には限定されず、例えば、正方形型、丸型、三角形型、バツ印型、+字型、V字型、W字型等種々の形状が考えられる。
なお、前記切り欠きは、第2基板24の共通電極90に形成される構成に限定されず、例えば、先に図13の(b)に基づいて説明したように、第1基板の絵素電極60(サブピクセル電極63)に形成することもできる。
つぎに本発明の第3の実施の形態について図9に基づいて説明すれば、以下の通りである。図9は、本発明の他の実施の形態を示すものであり、液晶表示装置の概略構成を示す図である。
Claims (14)
- 第1基板と、第2基板と、前記第1基板及び前記第2基板の間に封入された液晶材料とが備えられ、
絵素がマトリクス状に配置され、
前記第1基板には、複数の走査信号線と、
前記走査信号線と交差する複数の映像信号線と、
前記走査信号線及び前記映像信号線に電気的に接続された複数のスイッチング素子と、
前記スイッチング素子の各々に電気的に接続され、前記各絵素に対応して設けられた絵素電極とが設けられ、
前記第2基板には、共通電極が設けられた液晶表示装置であって、
前記第1基板及び前記第2基板のうちの少なくとも一方における、前記絵素に対応した領域内には、前記液晶材料の配向を制御するための配向制御部が設けられており、
前記走査信号線及び前記映像信号線のうちの、少なくともいずれか一方の信号線と、前記絵素電極とは平面視において絶縁材料を介して重なっており、
前記配向制御部と、前記絵素電極と重なっている前記信号線とは、平面視において、少なくとも一部が重なっていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記絵素電極の前記走査信号線と平行な方向の長さが、前記絵素電極の前記映像信号線と平行な方向の長さよりも長く、
前記走査信号線は、前記絵素電極と平面視において絶縁材料を介して重なっており、
前記配向制御部と、前記走査信号線とは、平面視において、少なくとも一部が重なっていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記配向制御部が、突起であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向制御部が、前記絵素電極の切り欠きであることを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向制御部が、前記共通電極の切り欠きであることを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記絵素が複数個のサブピクセルに分割されており、
当該サブピクセルに対応して、前記絵素電極が複数個のサブピクセル電極に分割されており、
当該サブピクセル電極が、サブピクセル電極接続部により、電気的に接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記サブピクセル電極接続部と、前記走査信号線とが、平面視において、絶縁層を介して少なくとも一部が重なっていることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記サブピクセル電極接続部は、前記走査信号線と重なる領域において、前記走査信号線を覆っていることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記絵素電極は、前記走査信号線と、平面視において絶縁材料を介して重なっており、
前記複数の絵素電極のうち1つの絵素電極に着目したとき、
当該絵素電極は、当該絵素電極と重なっている前記走査信号線によって駆動されていることを特徴とする請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板には、蓄積容量線と蓄積容量対向電極とが形成されており、
前記蓄積容量線の主たる部分が、平面視において、隣接する前記絵素電極の間の領域に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1から9のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の絵素電極のうちの1つの絵素電極に着目したとき、
前記蓄積容量線のうち、当該絵素電極に接続された蓄積容量対向電極と対向する蓄積容量線は、当該絵素電極と平面視において重なっているのに対して、
蓄積容量線のうち、当該絵素電極に接続された蓄積容量対向電極と対向しない蓄積容量線は、当該絵素電極と平面視において重なっていないことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板には、反射膜が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1から11のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記反射膜と前記スイッチング素子とが平面視において重なっていることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記反射膜と前記走査信号線とが平面視において重なっていることを特徴とする請求項12又は13に記載の液晶表示装置。
