Abstract
Description
本発明の実施形態1を図1から図8によって説明する。本実施形態では、液晶パネル(表示装置)10を構成するアレイ基板10Aについて例示する。なお、各図面の一部にはX軸、Y軸及びZ軸を示しており、各軸方向が各図面で示した方向となるように描かれている。また、図1,図3,図4及び図5の上側を表側とし、下側を裏側とする。
本発明の実施形態2を図9または図10によって説明する。この実施形態2では、エッジ遮光部128の配置を変更したものを示す。なお、上記した実施形態1と同様の構造、作用及び効果について重複する説明は省略する。
本発明は上記記述及び図面によって説明した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、例えば次のような実施形態も本発明の技術的範囲に含まれる。

- 長手状の画素電極と、
前記画素電極に接続されるスイッチング素子と、
前記画素電極の長手方向に沿って延在し前記スイッチング素子に接続されて前記スイッチング素子を駆動する信号を伝送する走査配線と、
前記画素電極の短手方向に沿って延在し前記スイッチング素子に接続されて前記画素電極を充電する信号を伝送する画像配線と、
液晶分子を含む液晶層と、
前記液晶層に電圧が印加されたときの前記液晶分子の配向方向が異なる複数のドメインと、
前記複数のドメインの境界に位置する配向境界部と、
前記液晶分子を配向させる配向膜と、
前記短手方向に沿って延在していて前記画素電極に対して絶縁膜を介して重畳し且つ前記配向境界部の少なくとも一部に対して重畳するよう配される容量配線と、を備える表示装置。 - 前記配向膜には、前記液晶分子の配向方向を異ならせる複数の配向処理が為されており、前記複数の配向処理が為された部分の境界が、前記配向境界部に対応する請求項1記載の表示装置。

前記ドレイン電極は、前記第2配向境界部に対して重畳するとともに前記画素電極の一部に対して絶縁膜を介して重畳していて前記絶縁膜に開口形成されたコンタクトホールを通して前記画素電極に接続される画素接続部を有する請求項3から請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記画素電極の外周縁部に含まれる縁部であって、当該縁部に直交し且つ前記画素電極の内側に向かう方位角方向が、前記液晶層に電圧が印加されたときの前記液晶層の厚さ方向における中央付近の前記液晶分子のチルト方向に対して鈍角をなす縁部の少なくとも一部に対して重畳するよう配されるエッジ遮光部を備える請求項1から請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記エッジ遮光部は、前記画素電極の外周縁部に含まれる縁部であって、当該縁部に直交し且つ前記画素電極の内側に向かう方位角方向が前記チルト方向に対して鈍角をなす長手側の縁部の少なくとも一部と重畳するよう配される請求項7記載の表示装置。
- 前記エッジ遮光部は、前記容量配線に電気的に接続されている請求項7または請求項8記載の表示装置。
- 前記走査配線は、前記画素電極とは非重畳となるよう配されており、前記エッジ遮光部は、前記走査配線とは非重畳となり且つ前記走査配線の側縁部に隣接するよう配される請求項9記載の表示装置。
- 前記エッジ遮光部は、前記容量配線と同じ導電膜により構成されていて前記容量配線に連ねられる請求項9または請求項10記載の表示装置。
- 前記容量配線は、前記画像配線と同じ導電膜により構成される請求項1から請求項11のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
