Abstract

 例えば、複数の絞り弁を単一の回動軸に取り付けて開閉させる多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置においては、各絞り弁の回動軸に対する取り付け誤差等によってそれぞれの閉じ位置におけるバルブ開度にばらつきが発生しやすく、その結果従来空気洩れを低減することが困難であった。本発明では、閉じ位置におけるバルブ開度のばらつきを吸収して空気洩れを低減できる絞り弁を提供する。  弁本体(11)の周縁に沿って隙間閉塞部材(12)をフローティング状態に保持して、この隙間閉塞部材(12)を変位若しくは弾性変形させることにより吸気通路内壁面(2a)との間の隙間をなくし、若しくは小さくする構成とする。

[0002] 内燃機関の各気筒への吸入空気量を調整するためのスロットル弁は、吸気通路内 壁面 (ボア内壁面)に対する食い付き (あるいは力シリ)を防止する必要上、吸気通路 の軸線に直交する位置に対して僅かな角度だけ開き方向に傾斜した位置 (吸気通路 内壁面に干渉しない位置)が全閉位置に設定される。このため、スロットル弁の全閉 状態では、吸気通路内壁面との間に僅かな隙間が発生した状態となる。スロットル弁 の全閉状態は、エンジンのアイドリング状態に相当することから、全閉状態で吸気通 路内壁面との間に発生する隙間が小さいほどアイドリング回転数を低くすることがで き、これにより燃料消費を低減することができる。
このため、従来より全閉位置のスロットル弁の吸気通路内壁面に対する食い付きを 防止しつつ両者間の隙間を極力小さくして空気漏れを低減し、これによりアイドリング 回転数の低下を図るために、当該スロットル弁等の蝶弁式の絞り弁について様々な 改良がなされている。
例えば、特開平 9-329028号公報には、バルブホルダの壁部に段差部を設け、この 段差部にバタフライバルブを当接させることにより全閉状態の気密性を確保する技術 が記載されている。また、特開平 8-277717号公報には、いわゆる多連式の可変吸気 バルブ等にぉ 、て各吸気通路のシール性等を確保するための技術が記載されて ヽ る。

発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0003] し力しながら、前者の技術によれば、バルブホルダの段差部によって吸気抵抗が発 生し、その結果エンジン性能低下の原因となる問題があり、また後者の絞り弁によつ ても吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間を小さくするには限界があった。
特に、 1本のバルブ軸に複数のバルブ体を固定してなる上記の多連式の可変吸気 バルブにお 、ては、バルブ軸に対する各バルブ体の組み付け誤差ある 、は関係す る部材の加ェ誤差等により、全閉位置における各バルブ体の吸気通路内壁面との間 の隙間についてばらつきが発生しやすぐこの隙間を均一かつより一層小さく設定す ることが極めて困難であった。
本発明は、上記多連式の可変吸気バルブとしても好適に用いることができる絞り弁 (いわゆるバタフライノ レブ)であって、主として全閉位置及び低開度域における吸気 通路内壁面に対する食い付きを回避しつつ当該吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間を従 来よりも小さくして流入空気の洩れを少なくすることができる蝶弁式の絞り弁を提供す ることを目的とする。
課題を解決するための手段
[0004] このため、本願発明は、特許請求の範囲の各請求項に記載した構成の絞り弁とし た。
請求項 1記載の絞り弁によれば、隙間閉塞部材によって弁本体の周縁と吸気通路 の内壁面との間の隙間が塞がれて、従来よりも流入空気の洩れが少なくなる。隙間 閉塞部材は、吸気通路の軸線に沿った方向、吸気通路の軸線に直交する方向、吸 気通路の軸線に対して傾斜する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に設けられて、 いわゆるフローティング構造により支持されているので、吸気通路内壁面に対する食 い付きを防止しつつ摺接させて隙間を閉塞することができる。
このように、弁本体の周縁に沿って隙間閉塞部材が変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に 設けられていることから、当該絞り弁の閉じ位置において隙間閉塞部材の吸気通路 内壁面に対する食い付きを防止しつつ、両者間の隙間をこの隙間閉塞部材により閉 塞することができ、これにより従来よりも流入空気の洩れを少なくすることができる。 このこと力ら、当該絞り弁を例えば多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置に適用することに より、各絞り弁の回動軸に対する取り付け誤差等により閉じ位置のばらつきが発生し ている場合であっても、このばらつきによる吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間を隙間閉塞 部材により閉塞し、若しくは小さくすることにより、流入空気の洩れ量を従来よりも少な くすることができる。また、当該絞り弁を内燃機関のスロットルバルブに適用しても、閉 じ位置における絞り弁の空気洩れを少なくすることができるので、アイドリング回転数 を低くして燃料消費を低減することができる。
絞り弁と吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間は、当該絞り弁の開き角度 (バルブ開度)に より変化し、また当該絞り弁の周縁方向の位置によっても異なる。特に、絞り弁の周縁 方向の位置によって幅が異なる隙間に対しては、隙間閉塞部材が吸気通路内壁面 に摺接されることにより弾性変形し、これにより弁本体の周縁からの張り出し量を隙間 の大小に合わせて変化させることができる。
隙間閉塞部材は、弁本体の周縁の全周にわたって設けることができ、また弁本体の 周縁の一部について設けることもできる。
請求項 2記載の絞り弁によれば、吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間が当該絞り弁の全 周にわたって隙間閉塞部材により閉塞されるので、両者間の隙間を最も小さくするこ とがでさる。
請求項 3記載の絞り弁によれば、円環形状の隙間閉塞部材の変位若しくは弾性変 形がスムーズになされるとともに、当該両端部の突き合わせ部においても吸気通路内 壁面との間の隙間を閉塞することができる。
請求項 4記載の絞り弁によれば、複数に分割された分割片がそれぞれ独立して変 位可能かつ弾性変形可能であるので、弁本体と吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間の変 化に対して当該隙間閉塞部材をよりスムーズに変位させ、かつ弾性変形させることが でき、これによりその吸気通路内壁面に対するシール性を高めて空気洩れをより確 実に防止若しくは低減することができる。また、分割構造により当該隙間閉塞部材の 弁本体に対する組み付け性を向上させることができる。
請求項 5記載の絞り弁によれば、各分割片のスムーズな変位及び弾性変形を許容 しつつ、当該各分割片の端部間においても吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間を閉塞す ることがでさる。
請求項 6記載の絞り弁によれば、ストツバ部により各分割片の弁本体力 の脱落が 防止される。
請求項 7記載の絞り弁によれば、簡単な構成で隙間閉塞部材を変位可能かつ弾性 変形可能に保持することができる。逆に、隙間閉塞部材の内周面に溝部を設け、こ の溝部に弁本体の周縁を挿入して当該隙間閉塞部材を弁本体に保持する構成とす ることがでさる。
請求項 8記載の絞り弁によれば、保持溝の幅 (弁本体の肉厚方向の幅)が隙間閉 塞部材の肉厚よりも十分に大きな幅に設定されているので、隙間閉塞部材は弁本体 の肉厚方向に平行移動可能かつ弾性変形可能であるとともに、吸気通路の軸線に 対して傾斜する方向にも変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に保持され、これにより吸気通 路内壁面に対する食い付きをより確実に防止しつつ、隙間を閉塞することができる。 請求項 9記載の絞り弁によれば、隙間閉塞部材の溝部に対する傾斜角度が大きく なるとともに、当該隙間閉塞部材の溝部内での傾動動作がよりスムーズになされ、こ れにより吸気通路内壁面に対する食い付きを一層確実に防止することができる。 請求項 10記載の絞り弁によれば、弁本体の溝部内に侵入した粉塵等の異物(いわ ゆるデッポジット)の固着または嚙み込みによる隙間閉塞部材の動作不良を未然に 回避することができ、ひいては当該絞り弁の耐久性を高めることができる。また、凹部 により隙間閉塞部材の溝部に対する摺動抵抗を減らしてそのスムーズな動作を確保 することができるとともに、当該隙間閉塞部材を弾性変形しやすくして吸気通路内壁 面に対するシール性及び食い付き防止機能を高めることができる。
請求項 11記載の絞り弁によれば、弁本体の回動軸に対して下流側となる下流側範 囲と上流側となる上流側範囲において隙間閉塞部材が吸気通路の負圧側力 受け る力が等しくなるので、両範囲における当該隙間閉塞部材の変位量、弾性変形量が 同じになり、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材の吸気通路内壁面に対するシール性を高 めることができ、又その偏摩耗を抑制することができる。
請求項 12記載の絞り弁によれば、下流側範囲と上流側範囲とで、隙間閉塞部材の 弁本体の周縁面力 の突き出し寸法を回動軸の軸線に対して線対称に設定すること により、両範囲における隙間閉塞部材の受圧面積を同じに設定することができる。 請求項 13記載の絞り弁によれば、弁本体を下流側範囲と上流側範囲とで非線対 称に設定して、当該弁本体と吸気通路内壁面との間の隙間について、下流側範囲を 上流側範囲よりも小さくすることにより、隙間閉塞部材の弁本体の周縁面力もの突き 出し寸法が回動軸について下流側範囲と上流側範囲とで線対称に設定されて、当 該両範囲における隙間閉塞部材の受圧面積が同じ (全周均一)に設定される。 発明の効果

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0008] 次に、本願発明の第 1の実施形態を図 1〜図 9に基づいて説明する。図 1〜図 3は 、本願発明の第 1実施形態に係る蝶弁式 (バタフライ形)の絞り弁 10を備えた多連式 の可変吸気バルブ装置 1の一部を示している。図中符号 2は、一つの絞り弁 10によ つて開閉される一つの吸気通路 (ボア)を示している。図示は省略したがボディ 3には 、複数の吸気通路 2〜2が形成されており、各吸気通路 2にそれぞれ一つの絞り弁 1 0が配置されている。図 2及び図 3において各吸気通路 2の上側から下側に向かって 空気が流れる。従って、絞り弁 10に対して上側が上流側であり、下側が下流側となる 。この/^ Jま、図 2, 3の他、図 11及び図 44〜48, 50, 51にお!/、て同様である。
複数の絞り弁 10〜: L0は、ボディ 3に回転自在に支持した 1本の回動軸 4に固定さ れている。すなわち、この共通の回動軸 4に各吸気通路 2の絞り弁 10が取り付けられ ている。このため、この回動軸 4をその軸線 J回りに回転させることにより各吸気通路 2の絞り弁 10がー体で開閉される。回動軸 4は、吸気通路 2の軸線 2Jに直交する軸 線(回転軸線 J)に沿ってボディ 3に支持されている。この回動軸 4に固定された絞り 弁 10は、その回転軸線 J回りに回転して吸気通路 2を開閉する。図 1〜図 3では、絞 り弁 10によって吸気通路 2が閉じられた全閉状態が示されており、この全閉位置から 一定方向に回転することにより吸気通路 2が開かれる。図示するように絞り弁 10の全 閉位置は、その吸気通路 2の軸線 2Jに対して直交する水平軸線 2Hにほぼ一致する 位置に設定されている。
また、図示は省略されているが回動軸 4の一端側はリンクアームを介して電動モー タに連結されている。この電動モータが、アクセルペダルの踏み込み量およびェンジ ンの運転状態等 (高回転域と低回転域の切り換え)に基づいて回転制御され、これに より回動軸 4がその回転軸線 J回りに回転することによって絞り弁 10の開度が制御さ れる。絞り弁 10の開度が適切に制御されることによって、吸気通路 2をエンジン気筒 側(図 2及び図 3において下側)に流れる空気量(吸気流量)が適切に調整される。
[0009] さて、図 4には第 1実施形態の絞り弁 10が単独で示されている。第 1実施形態の絞 り弁 10は、平板形状の弁本体 11と、この弁本体 11の周縁に沿って装着した隙間閉 塞部材 12を備えている。
弁本体 11は、榭脂の一体成形品であり、板厚 dl lで外径 D11の円形に形成されて いる。この弁本体 11は、回動軸 4に設けた平坦面 4a上に 2本の固定ビス 5, 5で固定 されている。この弁本体 11の中心は、回動軸 4の軸線 J上に位置しており、当該回 動軸 4から径方向両側方へ同じ寸法だけ弁本体 11が張り出している。
図 5に示すように弁本体 11の周縁面には、幅 Wl la、深さ dl laの溝部 11aがその全 周にわたって形成されている。この溝部 11a内に隙間閉塞部材 12が、その外周側を 側方へはみ出させた状態で保持されている。隙間閉塞部材 12は、幅 W12で板厚 dl 2の円環形状を有している。
図 6に示すようにこの隙間閉塞部材 12は、その周方向の 1箇所で分離されている。 分離によって形成される当該隙間閉塞部材 12の両端部 12a, 12bは、それぞれ周方 向一定の範囲の板厚がほぼ半分 (dl2/2)に薄肉化されており、この薄肉部 12a, 12 bが相互に変位可能 (周方向及び径方向に相対変位可能)な状態に向かい合わされ ている。これによつて隙間閉塞部材 12は、主として径方向に外力を受けることで、そ の周方向の一部の範囲または全体が弁本体 12の面方向、板厚方向及び周方向に 変位可能、かつ弾性変形可能となっている。
また、この隙間閉塞部材 12の外周側は、吸気通路 2の内壁面 2aに摺接される側で あり、断面半円形に形成されている。外周側が断面半円形に形成されていることによ り、当該隙間閉塞部材 12の吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する食い付きが発生しにくくなつ ている。
このように形成された隙間閉塞部材 12は、その内周側を弁本体 11の溝部 1 laに挿 入した状態で当該弁本体 11の周縁に沿って装着されている。この隙間閉塞部材 12 は、その両端の薄肉部 12a, 12bを相互に離間させる方向(拡径方向)に弾性変形さ せて広げることにより溝部 11aに装着することができる。
図 5に示すように隙間閉塞部材 12が溝部 11aに装着された状態では、隙間閉塞部 材 12と溝部 11aの底部との間に隙間 13が発生している。この隙間 13が十分に確保 されるように、隙間閉塞部材 12の幅 W12及び溝部 11aの深さ dl laが適切に設定され ている。また、隙間閉塞部材 12と溝部 11aとの間には、板厚方向の隙間 14が発生し ている。この隙間 14が十分に確保されるように、当該隙間閉塞部材 12の板厚 dl2及 び溝部 11aの幅 Wl laが適切に設定されている。
隙間閉塞部材 12の幅 W12と板厚 dl2及び溝部 11aの幅 Wl laと深さ dl laが上記の ように適切に設定されて十分な隙間 13, 14が確保されることにより、隙間閉塞部材 1 2は、その全体あるいは周方向一部の範囲について弁本体 11に対して径方向、板 厚方向あるいは板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に一定の範囲で弾性変形可能なフ ローテイング状態に装着されて!、る。この様子が図 7〜図 9に示されて 、る。
図 7は、隙間閉塞部材 12が溝部 11a内において、弁本体 11の板厚方向に隙間 14 の範囲内で平行に変位可能 (弾性変形可能)であることを示している。すなわち、当 該絞り弁 10の閉じ位置が水平軸線 2Hに対して開き方向にずれているために隙間閉 塞部材 12が吸気通路内壁面 2aに接していない状態では、弁本体 11の下面側が負 圧となる吸入空気の流れによって隙間閉塞部材 12の周方向の一部の範囲が図にお いて下方へ平行に変位 (弾性変形)して溝部 11aの図示下側の側壁に当接した状態 となり、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材 12と吸気通路内壁面 2aとの間の隙間が小さく なって流入空気の洩れ量が低減される。
また、図 8及び図 9に示すように隙間閉塞部材 12の吸気通路内壁面 2aに接触した 範囲については、当該絞り弁 10の下面側が負圧になることにより当該隙間閉塞部材 12が溝部 11a内において図示反時計回り方向(図 8)または時計回り方向(図 9)に傾 動した状態となって、当該隙間閉塞部材 12の吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する密着性が 確保される。
以上のように構成した第 1実施形態の絞り弁 10によれば、弁本体 11の周縁に沿つ て隙間閉塞部材 12が装着されており、この隙間閉塞部材 12はその周方向の一部の 範囲または全体が弁本体 11に対して一定の範囲で、弁本体 11の面方向、板厚方向 及び板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に設けられて 、 る。このため、吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する隙間閉塞部材 12の食い付きを防止しつ つ、当該隙間閉塞部材 12によって弁本体 11と吸気通路内壁面 2aとの間の隙間を閉 塞し若しくは小さくして流入空気の洩れ量を従来よりも低減することができる。
このことから、多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置 1において各絞り弁 10の閉じ位置(共 通の回動軸 4に対する取り付け位置)にばらつきがあり、その結果各絞り弁 10の閉じ 位置におけるバルブ開度にばらつきがある場合であっても、各吸気通路 2の流入空 気の洩れを従来よりも低減することができる。
図 43には、共通の回動軸 4に固定された五つの絞り弁 10(I)〜10(V)の当該回動軸 4に対する固定位置(取り付け角度)にばらつきが発生している場合において、各絞り 弁 10の隙間閉塞部材 12による吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する密閉度の変化が示され ている。図 43に示された表において、横軸は吸気通路 2に対する絞り弁 10の閉 Cf立 置のばらつき度合いを示し、縦軸は各絞り弁の閉じ位置における流入空気の洩れ量 を示している。
また、図 44〜図 48には、回動軸 4に対する固定位置(閉じ位置)がそれぞれ相互 にばらついている五つの絞り弁 10(I)〜10(V)が示されている。五つの絞り弁 10(1)〜1 O(V)のうち、図 44に示す絞り弁 10(1)が吸気通路 2の軸線 2Jに直交する水平軸線 2H に沿った全閉位置 (バルブ開度 0° )を閉じ位置に設定した場合に、この基準の閉じ 位置に対してその他の絞り弁 10(II)〜10(V) (図 45〜図 48)の取り付け角度は開き方 向または閉じ方向にばらついている。なお、図 44〜図 48において絞り弁 10の時計 回り方向を開き方向とし、反時計回り方向を閉じ方向とする。
図 43〜図 48によく示されているように図 44に示す絞り弁 10(1)の閉じ位置(基準位 置)での洩れ流量に対して、図 47に示す絞り弁 10(IV) (閉じ位置が基準位置に対し て閉じ方向に大きくずれている)及び図 48に示す絞り弁 10(V) (閉じ位置が基準位置 に対して開き方向に大きくずれている)については、洩れ流量が絞り弁 10(1)よりも大 きくなつているものの、図 45に示す絞り弁 10(11) (閉じ位置が基準位置に対して閉じ 方向に僅かにずれている)及び図 46に示す絞り弁 10(111) (閉じ位置が基準位置に対 して開き方向に僅かにずれている)については、基準となる絞り弁 10(1)とほぼ同等程 度の密閉性が確保されて 、る。
これは、上記したように各絞り弁 10の周縁に沿って隙間閉塞部材 12が装着され、こ の隙間閉塞部材 12が弁本体 11に対してフローティング状態に支持されていることに より、吸気通路内壁面 2aに対して食い付きを生ずることなぐそれぞれの隙間閉塞部 材 12が部分的または全体的に変位若しくは弾性変形して吸気通路内壁面 2aとの間 の隙間が閉塞され若しくは小さくされることによる。
このことから、多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置において、各絞り弁 10の閉じ位置に ばらつきが発生して 、る場合であっても、全体として流入空気の洩れ量が従来よりも 低減され、これによりエンジンの出力性能を向上させることができる。
また、上記のことから、多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置において、絞り弁 10(11)の閉じ 位置と絞り弁 10(111)の閉じ位置との間、すなわち図 43において矢印 Mで示した範囲 で、絞り弁 10の取り付け位置がばらついても、全ての絞り弁 10の洩れ流量を均一か つ最小限に抑制することができる。
図 49には、第 1実施形態の隙間閉塞部材 12を有しない従来構成の絞り弁 101, 1 02を備えた多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置 100において、各絞り弁の閉じ位置にお ける洩れ流量が比較して示されている。また、図 50及び図 51には、上記従来の多連 式の可変吸気バルブ装置 100における二つの絞り弁 101, 102が示されている。複 数の絞り弁のうち二つの絞り弁 101, 102の共通の回動軸 103に対する取り付け位 置(取り付け角度)が相互に僅かにずれており、図 50に示す絞り弁 101について仮 にその閉じ位置を吸気通路 104の軸線 10 Jに直交する水平軸線 104Hに沿った全 閉位置に設定した場合に、別の絞り弁 102が取り付け誤差等によりその閉じ位置が 絞り弁 101の閉じ位置 (基準位置)よりも閉じ方向に僅かにずれた場合を想定すると、 図 49に示すように絞り弁 101の閉じ位置における洩れ流量は、絞り弁 101の洩れ流 量よりも明らかに大きくなつていた。この点は、取り付け位置について基準となる絞り 弁 101に対する取り付け位置のズレが絞り弁 102よりもさらに大きくなる程(図 49にお いて絞り弁 105, 106)、それぞれの閉じ位置における洩れ流量は大きくなる。すなわ ち、従来は、閉じ位置の僅かなばらつきであっても、流入空気の洩れ量に大きな差が 発生していた。
以上説明したように、第 1実施形態の絞り弁 10によれば、弁本体 11の周縁部に沿 つて隙間閉塞部材 12を備え、この隙間閉塞部材 12が弁本体 11に対してその面方 向、板厚方向及び板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能で あり、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材 12が吸気通路内壁面 2aに接触されることにより、 閉じ位置の僅かなばらつきには関係なく従来よりも吸気通路 2の高い密閉性を確保 することができる。
本発明は、以上説明した第 1実施形態に限定されることなぐ様々な形態で実施す ることができる。例えば、図 10〜図 12には第 2実施形態の絞り弁 20が示されている。 第 2実施形態の絞り弁 20は、弁本体 21が 2枚の分割弁体 22, 23を接合してなる二 体型であることに特徴を有して!/ヽる。その他の点にっ ヽては前記第 1実施形態と同様 であるので、同位の符号を用いてその説明を省略する。
2枚の分割弁体 22, 23は共に鋼板のプレス成形により製作されたもので、相互に 同心に重ね合わせられた状態で回動軸 4の平坦面 4aに固定ビス 5, 5により固定され ている。
流入空気の流れに対して上流側(図において上側、以下同じ)の分割弁体 22の周 縁は、図 12〜図 14に示すように上流側へクランク形に屈曲している。この屈曲部分 と、流入空気の流れに対して下流側の分割弁体 23の周縁との間に、前記第 1実施形 態における溝部 11aに相当する溝部 21aが形成されている。この溝部 21aの幅及び 深さは、前記第 1実施形態と同様、隙間閉塞部材 12の幅 W12と板厚 dl2に対して十 分に大きな寸法に設定されている。この溝部 21a内に、隙間閉塞部材 12の内周側が 全周にわたって挿入されている。このため、隙間閉塞部材 12は、弁本体 21の径方向 、板厚方向及び板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に一定の範囲で任意に弾性変形可 能かつ変位可能となって 、る。
このように構成された第 2実施形態の絞り弁 20によっても、前記第 1実施形態と同 様の作用効果を得ることができる。すなわち、図 13に示すように当該絞り弁 20の閉じ 位置において、隙間閉塞部材 12の周方向の一部の範囲であって吸気通路内壁面 2 aに接触していない部位は、吸気通路下流側の負圧によって、溝部 21aの下流側側 壁に当接する方向(下流側)に弾性変形し、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材 12と吸気 通路内壁面 2aとの間の隙間が小さくなつて流入空気の洩れ量が低減される。。 また、図 14に示すように当該絞り弁 20の閉じ位置において、隙間閉塞部材 12の周 方向の一部の範囲が、当該絞り弁 20の閉じ動作に伴って吸気通路内壁面 2aに対し て上流側から下流側に向力つて摺接されることにより、反時計回り方向に傾動した状 態に弾性変形され、これによつて当該範囲の食い付きを回避しつつその密閉性を確 保することができる。 さらに、図 15に示すように当該絞り弁 20の閉 Cf立置において、 隙間閉塞部材 12の周方向その他の範囲(上記一部の範囲の 180° 反対側の範囲) 力 当該絞り弁 20の閉じ動作に伴って吸気通路内壁面 2aに対して下流側から上流 側に向力つて摺接されることにより、時計回り方向に傾動した状態に弾性変形され、 これによつて当該範囲の食い付きを回避しつつその密閉性を確保することができる。 なお、第 1実施形態と同様、隙間閉塞部材 12は、その周方向の一部で分離されて おり、その両端部 12a, 12bは相対変位可能な状態で保持されている(図 6参照)。こ のため、当該隙間閉塞部材 12は、その径方向及び周方向に弾性変形しやすくなつ ている。
また、第 2実施形態の絞り弁 20によれば、弁本体 21が二つの分割弁体 22, 23に 分割されているので、隙間閉塞部材 12の組み付け性を向上させることができる。この ことから、周方向の 1箇所で分離された上記の隙間閉塞部材 12に代えて切れ目のな V、連続した円環形状の隙間閉塞部材を用いた場合にぉ 、ても、これを容易に弁本 体 21に組み付けることができる。
次に、図 16〜図 18には、第 3実施形態の絞り弁 30が示されている。この第 3実施 形態の絞り弁 30は、弁本体 31の周縁に沿って隙間閉塞部材 32が装着されている。 この点は、第 1、第 2実施形態と同様であるが、第 3実施形態では逆に弁本体 31の周 縁部が、隙間閉塞部材 32の内周側に設けた溝部 32c内に挿入されている点で、前 記 2実施形態とは異なって ヽる。前記実施形態と同様の部材及び構成につ!ヽては、 同位の符号を用いてその説明を省略する。
この第 3実施形態の絞り弁 30の場合、弁本体 31は、一枚の鋼板をプレス成形して その周縁を全周にわたってクランク形に屈曲してなるもので、前記第 2実施形態にお ける分割弁体 22と同じ形状を有している。弁本体 31は、共通の回動軸 4の平坦面 4a に対してビス 5, 5で固定されている。
弁本体 31の周縁にクランク形に形成された屈曲部 31aが、隙間閉塞部材 32の内 周側の溝部 32cに挿入されて、当該隙間閉塞部材 32が弁本体 31の周縁全周に沿 つて装着されている。図 19に示すようにこの第 3実施形態でも、隙間閉塞部材 32の 溝部 32cの幅 W32cは、屈曲部 31aの板厚 d31aに対して十分に大きな寸法で形成さ れている。また、溝部 32cの深さ d32cは、弁本体 31に対して隙間閉塞部材 32が径方 向に一定の範囲で変位可能となる深さに設定されている。以上のことから、前記第 1 及び第 2実施形態と同様、第 3実施形態における隙間閉塞部材 32も、弁本体 31に 対してその径方向及び板厚方向にっ ヽて一定の範囲で変位若しくは弾性変形可能 なフローティング状態に支持されている。
[0016] また、隙間閉塞部材 32もその周方向の 1箇所で分離されており、端部 32a, 32bを 有している。図 18に示すようにこの両端部 32a, 32b (薄肉部)も弁本体 31の軸線に 対して傾斜する方向に沿った傾斜面に形成されているため、両端部 32a, 32bが相 互に摺接した状態で板厚方向相互に反対側へ変位 (弾性変形)しゃす 、ようになつ ている。
以上のように構成された第 3実施形態の絞り弁 30によれば、図 20に示すように当 該絞り弁 30が閉じ位置に位置する状態において、隙間閉塞部材 32の吸気通路内 壁面 2aに接触していないその周方向の一部の範囲については、吸気通路下流側の 負圧により当該一部の範囲が下流側へ板厚方向平行に弾性変形して溝部 32cの上 流側側壁に屈曲部 31aが当接した状態となることにより、当該隙間閉塞部材 32と吸 気通路内壁面 2aとの間の隙間が小さくなる。
また、図 21に示すように当該絞り弁 30の閉じ動作に伴って吸気通路内壁面 2aに 対して上流側から下流側に向かって摺接される範囲では、隙間閉塞部材 32が図示 反時計回り方向に捻られてその吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する食い付きが防止される。 さらに、図 22に示すように当該絞り弁 30の閉じ動作に伴って吸気通路内壁面 2aに 対して下流側から上流側に向かって摺接される範囲では、隙間閉塞部材 32が図示 時計回り方向に捻られてその吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する食い付きが防止される。 また、この第 3実施形態の場合、弁本体 31側に溝部を設ける必要がないことから、 その薄肉化 (軽量化)を図ることができる。
[0017] 次に、図 23〜図 26には、第 4実施形態の絞り弁 40が示されている。この第 4実施 形態の絞り弁 40は、多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置における各吸気通路に共通の回 動軸 45に対する取り付け構造が第 1実施形態とは異なっている。この絞り弁 40も、多 連式の可変吸気バルブ装置における複数の絞り弁について適用されている。この点 は、前記各実施形態と同様である。また、その他の部材及び構成についても第 1実 施形態と同様であるので、同位の符号を用いてその説明を省略する。
図 25及び図 26に示すように第 4実施形態における絞り弁 40の弁本体 41は、回動 軸 45を揷通するための支持孔 41aを備えている。弁本体 41の上面(流入空気の流 れについて上流側となる面)の中央には、断面半円形の凸部 41bが形成されている 。また、弁本体 41の下面 (流入空気の流れについて下面側となる面)の中央には、上 記凸部 41bよりも断面積が小さな断面半円形の凸部 41cが形成されている。両凸部 4 lb, 41cは、共に弁本体 41の中心を通る面方向の共通の軸線(直径)に沿って形成 されている。この両凸部 41b, 41c間に断面矩形の支持孔 41aが形成されている。こ の支持孔 41 aの中心軸は、弁本体 41の板厚方向中心に一致して 、る。
上記支持孔 41 aに挿通される回動軸 45は、この支持孔 41 aに対してガタツキなく挿 通可能な断面矩形 (角形回動軸)を有している。この角形回動軸 45が支持孔 41aに 揷通されて 、ることにより、弁本体 41ひ 、ては当該絞り弁 40が回動軸 45に対してそ の軸線回りの回転について一体ィ匕されている。従って、第 4実施形態の場合、第 1〜 第 3実施形態とは異なって、回動軸 45に絞り弁 40を固定するための固定ビス 5は不 要となっている。固定ビス 5, 5によりビス止めが不要であるので、部品点数及び組み 付け工数を低減することができ、これにより当該絞り弁 40のコスト低減を図ることがで きる。
弁本体 41の周縁全周にわたって隙間閉塞部材 44が装着されている。この隙間閉 塞部材 44は、弁本体 41の図 23にお 、て右側半周に沿って装着した分割片 44Rと 左側半周に沿って装着した分割片 44Lの 2つに分割されている。両分割片 44R, 44 Lは、それぞれ弁本体 41の周面に沿って設けた溝部 41d内に保持されている。図 24 に示すように両分割片 44R, 44Lの端部 44Ra, 44La同士は、第 1実施形態と同様 薄肉化されて相互に変位可能な状態で向かい合わされている。このように第 4実施 形態では隙間閉塞部材 44が周方向に二つの分割片 44R, 44Lに分割されているた め、両分割片 44R, 44Lひいては当該隙間閉塞部材 44がよりスムーズに変位し及び 弾性変形しやすくなつて!ヽる。
この第 4実施形態では、図 25に示すように溝部 41dの、凸部 41bの両側面に相当 する範囲では、それぞれ当該凸部 41bの断面半円形状に合わせて半円弧形状に湾 曲する経路に沿って形成されている。従って、図 25に示すようにこの溝部 41d内に 保持される隙間閉塞部材 44も、上面側の凸部 4 lbの両側面に相当する範囲で半円 弧形に湾曲する経路に沿って装着されている。これにより、回動軸 45と同様弁本体 4 1の板厚方向中心に沿って装着された隙間閉塞部材 44が、当該回動軸 45を回避し つつ全周にわたって連続的に装着されている。このため、回動軸 45の周辺において も、隙間閉塞部材 44は吸気通路内壁面 2aに摺接され、これにより高い当該絞り弁 4 0の回動軸周辺における高い密閉性を確保することができる。
また、第 4実施形態の絞り弁 40によれば、第 1実施形態と同様弁本体 41の周縁全 周にわたつて隙間閉塞部材 44が当該弁本体 41の径方向及び板厚方向に一定の範 囲で変位かつ弾性変形可能なフローティング状態で装着されているので、図 7〜図 9 に示すように当該隙間閉塞部材 44がその周方向にっ 、て部分的に適切な方向に 変位若しくは弾性変形することにより、当該隙間閉塞部材 44の吸気通路内壁面 2a に対する食い付きを回避しつつ、各絞り弁 40の回動軸 45に対する取り付け位置(取 り付け角度)のばらつきに関係なく従来よりもそれぞれの密閉性を高めることができる また、隙間閉塞部材 44が二つの分割片 44R, 44Lに分割されているので、その弁 本体 41に対する組み付け性を向上させることができる。
次に、図 28及び図 29には第 5実施形態の絞り弁 50が示されている。この第 5実施 形態も、可変吸気バルブ装置における各吸気通路に共通の回動軸 55に対する取り 付け構造が異なっている。その他の部材及び構成については第 1実施形態と同様で あるので、同位の符号を用いてその説明を省略する。
この第 5実施形態の場合、断面円形の回動軸 55には、その中心軸線に沿って溝部 55aが形成されている。この溝部 55aは、絞り弁 50の板厚及び径に合わせて側面視 細長いスリット形状に形成されており、当該回動軸 55の中心軸線に沿って形成され ている。この溝部 55aに絞り弁 50がその板厚方向及び径方向にガタツキのない状態 で挿入されている。溝部 55aに挿入された絞り弁 50は、固定ビス 52, 52でビス止め されて位置ズレしないようになっている。両固定ビス 52, 52は、その頭部を回動軸 55 に形成した座繰り部 55b, 55bに当接させた状態に締め込まれている。
第 1実施形態と同様、弁本体 51の周縁全周に沿って溝部 51aが形成され、この溝 部 51a内に隙間閉塞部材 53がその内周側を挿入させた状態で装着されている。こ の隙間閉塞部材 53も、その周方向の 1箇所で分離されており、分離により形成される 両端部 53a, 53bは、前記第 1実施形態における両端部 12a, 12bと同様、薄肉化さ れて相互に変位可能な状態で向カ^、合わせられて!/、る。図 28に示すようにこの両端 部 53a, 53bの向かい合わせ部は、回動軸 55の溝部 55a内に位置している。このた め、両端部 53a, 53bの向かい合わせ部(隙間)が回動軸 55に遮蔽されることから、 当該部位における流入空気洩れが防止される。
また、この第 5実施形態においても、前記第 1実施形態と同様、隙間閉塞部材 53が 弁本体 51の周縁に沿ってフローティング状態に装着されていることから、その周方向 について部分的に、吸気通路内壁面 2aに対して適切な方向に変位若しくは弾性変 形することにより、当該吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する食い付きを防止しつつ、その密 閉性を高めることができる。従って、複数の絞り弁 50〜50を備えた可変吸気バルブ 装置において各絞り弁 50に取り付け誤差が発生しても、従来よりも閉じ位置における 流入空気の洩れを低減することができる。
以上説明した第 1〜第 5実施形態では、各絞り弁 10〜50の弁本体 11, 21, 31, 4 1, 51がそれぞれ円形を有する場合について説明したが、以下説明するように弁本 体が長円形を有する場合についても同様に適用することができる。
図 31〜図 35には、第 6実施形態の絞り弁 60が例示されている。この第 6実施形態 の絞り弁 60は、長円形の弁本体 61と、その周縁に沿って装着した隙間閉塞部材 65 を備えている。
弁本体 61は、第 2実施形態と同様、 2枚の分割弁体 62, 63を重ね合わせて結合し た二体型構造を備えている。両分割弁体 62, 63は、回動軸 4の平坦面 4aに固定ビ ス 5, 5により重ね合わせ状態で固定されている。図 34において上側(上流側)の分 割弁体 62の周縁は、上流側へクランク形に屈曲している。この屈曲部 62cと図示下 側(下流側)の分割弁体 63の周縁との間に、隙間閉塞部材 65を装着するための溝 部 61aが形成されている。この溝部 61aの幅及び深さは、前記各実施形態と同様隙 間閉塞部材 65が、その径方向、板厚方向及び板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に一 定の範囲で変位 (弾性変形)可能とするフローティング構造となるように適切に設定さ れている。
また、両分割弁体 62, 63間には、隙間閉塞部材 65を保持するための T字形の保 持凹部 66, 67が設けられている。すなわち、上流側の分割弁体 62の回動軸 4に対 して両側となる回動先端側の両側部には、上流側に T字形に膨らむ凸部 62a, 62b が設けられている。上下の分割弁体 62, 63が重ね合わせられることにより、凸部 62a と下流側の分割弁体 63との間に保持凹部 66が形成され、凸部 62bと下流側の分割 弁体 63との間に保持凹部 67が形成されている。
次に、隙間閉塞部材 65は、図 31において上側の分割片 65Uと下側の分割片 65D に二分割されている。両分割片 65U, 65Dは、それぞれ概ね U字形を有している。 両分割片 65U, 65Dのそれぞれの両端部 65Ub, 65Dbは、前記各実施形態と同様 薄肉化されている。分割片 65Uの端部 65Ubと分割片 65Dの端部 65Dbが相互に 変位可能な状態で向かい合わせられている。また、両分割片 65U, 65Dの長手方向 中央には、それぞれ内周側に T字形に張り出す保持腕部 65Ua, 65Daが形成され ている。この保持腕部 65Ua, 65Daをそれぞれ上記保持凹部 66, 67内に収容した 状態で、両分割片 65U, 65Dが溝部 61aの半周の範囲に沿って装着されている。両 保持腕部 65Ua, 65Daは、それぞれ保持凹部 66, 67内において、弁本体 61の面 方向、板厚方向及び板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に一定の範囲で変位可能とな るよう、当該保持凹部 66, 67の深さ及び幅が適切に設定されている。
このように、第 6実施形態の絞り弁 60によっても、隙間閉塞部材 65が弁本体 61に 対してその面方向、板厚方向及び板厚方向に対して傾斜する方向に一定の範囲で 変位可能及び弾性変形可能 (フローティング構造)に設けられていることから、前記 各実施形態と同様、隙間閉塞部材 65の吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する食い付きを防 止しつつ、両者間の隙間を従来よりも小さくして流入空気量の洩れを低減することが できる。これによれば、可変吸気バルブ装置の各吸気通路 2における絞り弁の閉じ位 置についてばらつきが発生している場合であっても、各絞り弁 60の閉じ位置におけ る流入空気の洩れ量を従来よりも低減して、エンジンの出力性能を向上させることが できる。
また、第 6実施形態の場合、隙間閉塞部材 65が弁本体 61の周囲に沿って 2分割さ れてそれぞれが個別に変位及び弾性変形しやすくなつているため、吸気通路内壁 面 2aに対する当該隙間閉塞部材 65の追従性を高めていわゆるなじみやすくするこ とがでさる。
しカゝも、第 6実施形態の場合、両隙間閉塞部材 65の両分割片 65U, 65Dが、その 長手方向中央に設けた保持腕部 65Ua, 65Daによって弁本体 61からの脱落が防 止される構成であるので、両分割片 65U, 65Dのそれぞれの端部 65Ub, 65Db側 の弁本体 61の面方向(図 31にお 、て紙面方向)への変位量または弾性変形量を中 央部側よりも大きく設定してその可動性をよくしておくことができる。これによれば、当 該絞り弁 60の開閉時において吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する隙間閉塞部材 65 (分割 片 65U, 65D)の摺動抵抗を小さくすることができるので、当該絞り弁 60の作動抵抗 を低減することができる。
また、弁本体 61が分割弁体 62, 63に二分割されて、両分割弁体 62, 63間に隙間 閉塞部材 65を介装する構成であるので、例示したように隙間閉塞部材 65の両分割 片 65U, 65Dが T字形の保持腕部 65Ua, 65Daを有する等、比較的複雑な形状を 有する場合であっても、弁本体 61に対する組み付け性を容易に確保することができ る。このため、当該両分割片 65U, 65Dに、弁本体 61 (溝部 6 la)に対する脱落防止 手段を設定する場合に、その選択の幅(自由度)が広がる。
上記第 6実施形態にはさらに変更を加えることができる。図 36〜図 40には第 7実施 形態の絞り弁 70が示されている。この第 7実施形態の絞り弁 70は、第 6実施形態の 弁本体 61と同様長円形状を有する弁本体 71と、この弁本体 71の周縁に沿って装着 した隙間閉塞部材 72を備えている。
第 7実施形態の場合、弁本体 71は第 6実施形態とは異なって榭脂の一体成型によ り製作されている。この弁本体 71の周縁には溝部 71aがその全周にわたって形成さ れている。この溝部 71a内に隙間閉塞部材 72の内周側が挿入されて当該隙間閉塞 部材 72が弁本体 71の周縁に沿って装着されている。弁本体 71は、前記各実施形 態と同様可変吸気バルブ装置における各吸気通路 2〜2に共通の回動軸 4に設けた 平坦面 4aに固定ビス 5, 5により固定されている。
溝部 71aは、弁本体 71の周囲全周にわたって同じ深さではなぐ図 36及び図 39に 示すように弁本体 71の長手方向中央に相当する 2箇所では回動軸 4の軸線方向に 一定の深さで深く形成されている。以下、この深くなつた部分を溝部 71aに形成した 保持凹部 71b, 71bという。
一方、隙間閉塞部材 72は、図 36において上側の分割片 72Uと下側の分割片 72 Dとに二分割されて、それぞれ概ね U字形を有している。この点は、第 6実施形態と 同じである。しかしながら、この第 7実施形態では、両分割片 72U, 72Dのそれぞれ の両端部に保持腕部 72Ua, 72Daを有する点で第 6実施形態とは異なっている。 両分割片 72U, 72Dのそれぞれの両端部は、前記各実施形態と同様薄肉化され て 、る。分割片 72Uの端部 (薄肉部)と分割片 72Dの端部 (薄肉部)が相互に変位 可能な状態で向かい合わせられている。第 7実施形態では、この薄肉化された部分 がさらに内周側 (L形)に張り出した形状とされている。以下、薄肉化されて L形に屈 曲した部分が上記保持腕部 72Ua, 72Daに相当する。図 41には、一方の分割片 72 Dが単独で示されて 、る。もう一方の分割片 72Uも同様に構成されて!、る。
分割片 72Dの両保持腕部 72Da, 72Daがそれぞれ分割片 72Uの保持腕部 72U aに対して相互に変位可能な状態で向かい合わせられており、この向かい合わせ状 態でそれぞれ弁本体 71の溝部 71aの保持凹部 71b内に挿入されている。両分割片 72U, 72Dは、その両端部 (保持腕部 72Ua, 72Ua)を板厚方向相互に反対側に 弾性変形させる等して溝部 71aに沿って装着することができる。
こうして両分割片 72U, 72Dを溝部 71aに装着した状態では、両分割片 72U, 72 Dが相互に独立してその弁本体 71の面方向、板厚方向及び板厚方向に対して傾斜 する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能となっており、その変位量が十分確保される よう溝部 71a及び保持凹部 71bの幅及び深さ等が適切に設定されている。
また、図 40〜図 42に示すように両分割片 72U, 72Dの内周側であって、その板厚 方向両面には、多数の凹部 73〜73が設けられている。弁本体 71の溝部 71a内に侵 入したブローバイガス、オイルミスト等、その他の粉塵 (いわゆるデポジット)をこの凹 部 73〜73でかぎ取ることにより、あるいは凹部 73〜73内に溜めておくことにより、こ れらの粉塵が溝部 71aと隙間閉塞部材 72との接触面に固着し若しくは嚙み込むこと を防止することができ、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材 72の作動不良を未然に防止し て当該絞り弁 70の耐久性を高めることができる。
また、上記凹部 73〜73を設けておくことにより、隙間閉塞部材 72の溝部 71aに対 する接触面積を減らして、その溝部 71aにおける動作抵抗を低減することができるの で、当該隙間閉塞部材 72のスムーズな動作を確保することができる。また、凹部 73 〜73により隙間閉塞部材 72を弾性変形しやすくすることができるので、この点でも隙 間閉塞部材 72の吸気通路内壁面 2aに対するシール性 (なじみやすさ)及び食!、付 き防止機能を高めることができる。
さらに、前記各実施形態と同様、両分割片 72U, 72Dの外周側は断面半円形に形 成されて、吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する食い付きが発生しにくくなつている。この点は 、前記各実施形態と同様である。
以上のように構成した第 7実施形態の絞り弁 70によれば、弁本体 71の周縁に沿つ て隙間閉塞部材 72が装着されており、この隙間閉塞部材 72はその一部または全体 が弁本体 71に対して一定の範囲で弁本体 71の面方向、板厚方向及び板厚方向に 対して傾斜する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能 (フローティング構造)に設けられ ている。このため、吸気通路内壁面 2aに対する隙間閉塞部材 72の食い付きを防止 しつつ、当該隙間閉塞部材 72と吸気通路内壁面 2aとの間の隙間を閉塞若しくは小 さくして流入空気の洩れ量を従来よりも低減することができる。これによれば、多連式 の可変吸気バルブ装置において各絞り弁 70の閉じ位置にばらつきが発生しても、各 吸気通路 2の流入空気の漏れを従来よりも低減して出力性能の高いエンジンを提供 することができる。
また、第 7実施形態の絞り弁 70の場合、隙間閉塞部材 72が弁本体 71の周縁に沿 つて分割片 72U, 72Dに 2分割されているので、溝部 71a内においてスムーズに変 位させ、かつ滑らかに弾性変形させることができ、これにより吸気通路内壁面 2aに対 して当該隙間閉塞部材 72をなじみやすくすることができる。さらに、両分割片 72U, 72Dの両端部 (保持腕部 72Ua, 72Da)が薄肉化されて、相互に変位可能な状態で 突き合わされて 、るので、この突き合わせ部分における流入空気の洩れを防止しつ つ両分割片 72U, 72Dの変位及び弾性変形がよりスムーズになされるようになって いる。
次に、図 52及び図 53には、第 8実施形態に係る絞り弁 80が示されている。この絞り 弁 80は、請求項 11〜 13に記載した発明の一実施形態に相当する。
第 8実施形態の絞り弁 80は、概ね円形 (精確には円形ではない)の弁本体 81の周 縁全周に沿って隙間閉塞部材 82が装着され、当該弁本体 81がボディ 3に回転自在 に支持した 1本の回動軸 83に固定された構成を備える点で前記第 1実施形態と同様 である。また、隙間閉塞部材 82の内周側は、断面半円形に形成されて弁本体 81の 周縁面 81aに沿って設けた溝部 81bに挿入され、外周側は同じく断面半円形に形成 されて主として全閉時に吸気通路 85の内壁面 85aに摺接される点も第 1実施形態と 同様である。
第 8実施形態の絞り弁 80は、弁本体 81の全閉位置が吸気通路 85の水平軸線 85 H (吸気通路 85の軸線 85Jに対して直交する軸線)に対して傾斜する位置に設定さ れている点で、第 1実施形態とは異なっている。図 52に示すように、弁本体 81は、水 平軸線 85Hに対して図示反時計回り方向に角度 Θで傾斜した位置が全閉位置とさ れている。
図 54には全閉位置における弁本体 81の下流側端部 TAが示され、図 55には同じ く全閉位置における弁本体 81の上流側端部 TBが示されている。図示するように当 該弁本体 81の周縁面 81aは、全閉位置において吸気通路 85の内壁面 85aに対し て平行となるように形成されている。このため、弁本体 81の周縁面 81aのうち、上記 上流側端部 TAとその周辺及び下流側端部 TBとその周辺は、当該弁本体 81の面方 向(上面及び下面)に対して傾斜している。その傾斜方向は、上流側端部 TA側と下 流側端部 TB側とで相互に反対方向となつて 、る。当該弁本体 81の上面及び下面に 対する周縁面 81aの傾斜角度は、その周方向に連続的に変化しており、下流側端部 TAと上流側端部 TBが最も大きくなる。
なお、図 52に示すように弁本体 81の周縁であって、平面的に見て回動軸 83に直 交する軸線 81J上に位置する 2箇所の端部のうち、流入空気の下流側(図 53におい て下側)となる端部を下流側端部 81TAと 、、上流側(図 53にお 、て上側)となる 端部を上流側端部 81TBと 、う。
また、回動軸 83の軸線 83Jに対して下流側となる範囲(図 52において左側の範囲) を下流側範囲 EAと 、、上流側となる範囲(図 52にお 、て右側の範囲)を上流側範 囲 EBという。
次に、弁本体 81の周縁面 81aと吸気通路 85の内壁面 85aとの間には、当該弁本 体 81の全周にわたって僅かな隙間が設定されている。本実施形態に係る絞り弁 80 では、下流側範囲 EAにおける弁本体 81と内壁面 85aとの間の隙間寸法 Aと、上流 側範囲 EBにおける弁本体 81と内壁面 85aとの間の隙間寸法 B力 回動軸 83の軸線 83Jに対して非線対称 (不一致)に設定されている点に特徴を有している。以下、両 範囲 EA, EBの隙間寸法の代表値として、上記下流側端部 TAと上流側端部 TBに おける隙間寸法 A, Bを例示して説明する。
弁本体 81の下流側端部 81TAにおける周縁面 81aと内壁面 85aとの間の隙間は 寸法 A (隙間 A)に設定され、上流側端部 81TBにおける周縁面 81aと内壁面 85aと の間の隙間は寸法 B (隙間 B)に設定されている。図 56に示すように本実施形態では 、隙間 Aは隙間 Bよりも小さく設定されている(隙間 Aく隙間 B)。また、弁本体 81の周 方向について上流側端部 81TBと下流側端部 81TAとの間であって、軸線 83J上に 位置する当該弁本体 81の側部と内壁面 85aとの間の隙間は寸法 C (隙間 C)に設定 されている。隙間 Cは、隙間 Aよりも大きく隙間 Bよりも小さく設定されている (A< C< B)。このように弁本体 81の周縁と吸気通路内壁面 85aとの間の隙間寸法が周方向 に連続的に変化するよう当該弁本体 81の径 (周縁形状)が設定されている。なお、図 56では、隙間 A, B, Cの大小関係を理解しやすくするため、これらの寸法が誇張し て示されている。
これにより、当該弁本体 81の全閉時において、隙間閉塞部材 82の吸気通路 85の 下流側(図 53において弁本体 81よりも下方)に面して負圧が作用する面積 (受圧面 積 S)が下流側範囲 EAと上流側範囲 EBとで等しくなるよう(全周均一)に設定されて V、る(下流側範囲 EAの受圧面積 SA=上流側範囲 EBの受圧面積 SB)。
ここで、弁本体 81の全閉位置が水平軸線 85Hに対して角度 Θで傾斜した位置に 設定されて隙間閉塞部材 82が吸気通路内壁面 85aに対して傾斜方向 (斜め下方又 は斜め上方)から押圧され、かつ隙間閉塞部材 82の外周が断面半円形に形成され ていることから、弁本体 81の全閉状態では、隙間閉塞部材 82と吸気通路 85の内壁 面 85aとの接点について見ると、下流側範囲 EAにおける接点 PAは上流側範囲 EB における接点 PBよりも上面側(上流側)に変位した位置になる。この点は、下流側範 囲を示す図 54と上流側範囲 EBを示す図 55を比較して見ることにより理解できる。弁 本体 81の周縁面 8 laから接点 PA, PBまでの距離力 特許請求の範囲に記載した 突き出し寸法に相当する。上流側範囲 EBと下流側範囲 EAとでこの突き出し寸法を 回動軸 83につ 、て線対称に設定されることにより、両範囲の受圧面積を同じ (全周 均一)にすることができる。
これに対して、仮に、全閉時の弁本体 81の周縁面 81aと吸気通路 85の内壁面 85a との間の隙間が下流側範囲 EAと上流側範囲 EBとで同じ (隙間 A=隙間 B)であると 、隙間閉塞部材 82の周縁面 81aからの突き出し寸法が下流側範囲 EAの方が大きく なるため、隙間閉塞部材 82の受圧面積 Sは、上流側範囲 EBの受圧面積 SBよりも下 流側範囲 EAの受圧面積 SAの方が大きくなり(SA>SB)、その結果隙間閉塞部材 8 2の下流側範囲 EAの受ける力(吸気通路の負圧により受ける外力)の方が上流側範 囲 EBの受ける力よりも大きくなる。
このように弁本体 81の全閉時 (エンジンアイドリング状態)において、隙間閉塞部材 85の受ける力が回動軸 83の回動軸線 83Jを境にして下流側範囲 EAと上流側範囲 EBとで非対称であると、それらの吸気通路内壁面 85aに対する押圧力(シール力) が両範囲 EA, EB間で異なり、その結果周方向の一部についてシール不良を発生し 、あるいは偏摩耗を発生しやすくなる。
この点、本実施形態の絞り弁 80によれば、弁本体 81の全閉時において当該弁本 体 81の周縁面 81aと吸気通路内壁面 85aとの間の隙間について、下流側範囲 EA の隙間 Aの方が上流側範囲 EBの隙間 Bよりも小さく設定されて (隙間 A<隙間 B)、 隙間閉塞部材 82の受圧面積 Sが下流側範囲 EAと上流側範囲 EBとで等しく設定さ れ (SA= SB)、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材 82が受ける力ひいては吸気通路内壁 面 85aに対する押圧力が、軸線 83Jに対して下流側範囲 EA (押圧力 PAP)と上流側 範囲 EB (押圧力 PBP)とで同じになるように設定されている(押圧力 PAP =押圧力 P BP)。
このように第 8実施形態の絞り弁 80によれば、弁本体 81が吸気通路 85の水平軸線 85Hに対して角度 Θで傾斜した位置が全閉位置とされ、弁本体 81の周縁面 81aと 吸気通路内壁面 85aとの間の隙間力 上流側範囲 EBよりも下流側範囲 EAの方が 小さく設定されて、隙間閉部材 82が受ける力が両範囲 EA, EB間で同じになるように 設定されている。このため、隙間閉塞部材 82の変位量及び弾性変形量等が両範囲 EA, EB間で同じになり、これにより全閉時における吸気通路 85のシール性を高める ことができ、また当該隙間閉塞部材 82の偏摩耗を防止することができる。
[0027] 以上説明した第 8実施形態は、図 57〜図 59に示すように弁本体 91が長円形を有 する第 9実施形態の絞り弁 90にも同様に適用することができる。図示するように弁本 体 91の下流側端部 TAと吸気通路 92の内壁面 92aとの間の隙間 Aは、上流側端部 TBと吸気通路内壁面 92aとの間の隙間 Bよりも小さく設定されており、これにより弁本 体 91の周縁に沿って装着された隙間閉塞部材 93の受圧面積 Sは、回動軸 94の軸 線 9 Jに対して下流側となる下流側範囲 EAと上流側となる上流側範囲 EBとで同じ になるように設定されて 、る。
このため、隙間閉塞部材 93の変位量及び弾性変形量等は、下流側範囲 EAと上流 側範囲 EBとで同じになり、これにより当該隙間閉塞部材 93の内壁面 92aに対するシ 一ル性を高め、またその偏摩耗を抑制することができる。
[0028] 以上説明した各実施形態には、さらに様々な変更を加えて実施することができる。
例えば、多連式の可変吸気バルブ装置に適用した絞り弁 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 , 70, 80, 90を例示した力 これら各実施形態の絞り弁はスロットルバルブ装置とし ても適用することができ、また、吸気通路を開閉する単独の開閉バルブとして適用す ることがでさる。
また、第 1、第 3、第 5、第 8、第 9の各実施形態において隙間閉塞部材を周方向に 二分割してもよいし、第 2、第 4、第 6、第 7の各実施形態において隙間閉塞部材をー 体式 (周方向 1箇所に切れ目を有する形態)にしてもょ 、。
さらに、第 3、第 4、第 5、第 7、第 8及び第 9実施形態における一体型の弁本体 31, 41, 51, 71, 81, 91を、第 2、第 6実施形態のように二体型の弁本体に変更してもよ い。
また、各実施形態において、切れ目のない連続した円環形状の隙間閉塞部材とし てもよい。
また、弁体の周縁全周にわたって隙間閉塞部材を設ける構成を例示したが、弁体 の周縁の一部の範囲について、隙間閉塞部材を設ける構成としてもよい。
さらに、各実施形態における隙間閉塞部材 12, 32, 44, 53, 65, 82, 93は、一定 の幅及び板厚を有するものを例示したが(例えば幅 W12、板厚 dl2)、周方向の適宜 範囲についてその幅または板厚を変化させることにより、弾性変形しやすい部分、逆 に弾性変形しにくい部分を設定することができ、これにより吸気通路内壁面 2aに一層 なじみやす ヽ (気密性が高 、)隙間閉塞部材とすることができる。
また、第 7実施形態において、隙間閉塞部材 72 (分割片 72U, 72D)の板厚方向 両面に粉塵溜め用の凹部 73〜73を多数設ける構成を例示したが、片面にのみ設け る構成、あるいはこの多数の凹部 73〜73を連通させて当該隙間閉塞部材の長手方 向に沿って連続する長い凹部とする構成としてもよぐさらにこの凹部 73〜73を省略 する構成としてもよい。さらに、この凹部 73〜73をその他の実施形態における各隙 間閉塞咅材 12, 32, 44, 53, 65, 82, 93に適用することもできる。
さらに、各実施形態における弁本体及び隙間閉塞部材の材質については任意で あり、金属製、榭脂製あるいはその他の材質により製作することができ、鋼板のプレス 成形、鋼材の機械加工、榭脂の一体成型等様々な方法により製作することができる。 弁本体あるいは隙間閉塞部材を、いわゆるナイロンやフッ素榭脂等の榭脂により製 作することにより、金属製に比してその耐摩耗性、摺動性及びシール性を高めること ができる。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 内燃機関の吸気通路内に、該吸気通路の軸線に直交する軸線回りに回動可能に設 けられて当該吸気通路を開閉する蝶弁式の絞り弁であって、
弁本体の周縁に沿って、当該周縁と前記吸気通路の内壁面との間の隙間を閉塞 するための隙間閉塞部材を、前記吸気通路の軸線に沿った方向、直交する方向及 び傾斜する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に備えた絞り弁。
[2] 請求項 1記載の絞り弁であって、弁本体の周縁の全周にわたって隙間閉塞部材を備 えた絞り弁。
[3] 請求項 2記載の絞り弁であって、隙間閉塞部材はその周方向の少なくとも 1箇所で分 離され、該分離された両端部が相互に変位可能な状態で肉厚方向に突き合わされ た絞り弁。
[4] 請求項 2記載の絞り弁であって、隙間閉塞部材は、弁本体の周縁に沿って複数の分 割片に分割されており、各分割片はそれぞれ独立して変位可能かつ弾性変形可能 な構成とした絞り弁。
[5] 請求項 4記載の絞り弁であって、各分割片の端部が他の分割片の端部に対して相対 変位可能な状態で肉厚方向に重ね合わせられて 、る絞り弁。
[6] 請求項 4記載の絞り弁であって、各分割片が、弁本体力 の脱落を防止するための ストツバ部を有する絞り弁。
[7] 請求項 1〜6のいずれか 1項に記載した絞り弁であって、弁本体の周縁に沿って溝部 を設け、該溝部内に隙間閉塞部材を変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に保持した絞り弁
[8] 請求項 7記載の絞り弁であって、保持溝の幅を隙間閉塞部材の肉厚よりも十分に大 きく形成して、該隙間閉塞部材が弁本体に対して、吸気通路の軸線に対して傾斜す る方向に変位可能に保持された絞り弁。
[9] 請求項 8記載の絞り弁であって、隙間閉塞部材及びこれを保持する溝部の角部を断 面円弧形状に面取りした絞り弁。
[10] 請求項 7〜9のいずれか 1項に記載した絞り弁であって、隙間閉塞部材の内周側に、 前記溝部内に侵入した異物を収容するための凹部を設けた絞り弁。
[11] 内燃機関の吸気通路内に、該吸気通路の軸線に直交する軸線回りに回転可能に設 けた回動軸に弁本体を取り付けて、該弁本体を前記回動軸回りに回動させて当該吸 気通路を開閉する蝶弁式の絞り弁であって、
前記弁本体の全閉位置が前記吸気通路の軸線に対して傾斜した位置に設定され ており、
前記弁本体は、その周縁に沿って、前記全閉位置におけるその周縁と前記吸気通 路の内壁面との間の隙間を閉塞するための隙間閉塞部材を、前記吸気通路の軸線 に沿った方向、直交する方向及び傾斜する方向に変位可能かつ弾性変形可能に備 え、
前記回動軸に対して上流側の範囲と下流側の範囲で前記隙間閉塞部材の受圧面 積を等しくした絞り弁。
[12] 請求項 11記載の絞り弁であって、前記隙間閉塞部材は、その内周側を前記弁本体 の周縁に沿って設けた溝部内に挿入し、外周側を前記弁本体の周縁から突き出した 状態に配置され、当該隙間閉塞部材の前記弁本体の周縁からの突き出し寸法を、 前記上流側の範囲と前記下流側の範囲で前記回動軸について線対称に設定して 前記受圧面積を等しくした絞り弁。
[13] 請求項 12記載の絞り弁であって、全閉位置において前記弁本体の周縁と前記吸気 通路の内壁面との間の隙間について、前記上流側の範囲よりも前記下流側の範囲を 小さく設定して、前記隙間閉塞部材の前記弁本体の周縁からの突き出し寸法を、前 記回動軸について前記上流側の範囲と前記下流側の範囲で線対称に設定した絞り 弁。
