Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for screwing screw closures onto containers according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a device is known from DE 32 45 966 C2.
- the slip or hysteresis clutch formed by the magnets and a ring made of a material of high magnetic permeability allows a sensitive and reproducible setting of the torque that can be transmitted from the spindle to the closing head. For safety reasons, this continues to work for a certain time even after a screw cap has been screwed onto the thread of the container mouth and leads e.g. in the case of faulty threads or faulty container clamping, the screw head continues to turn, which is an indication of a faulty closing process. Monitoring of this process is not provided in the known device.
- the invention has for its object to enable monitoring of the closing head rotation in a device of the type mentioned with simple means.
- the permanent magnets of the slip or hysteresis clutch which are present anyway, are used to monitor the rotation of the closing head. Because of this double function of the magnets according to the invention, the design effort is extremely low.
- the magnets are generally well protected in a housing so that a microbiologically advantageous construction of the closing device is not impaired.
- the detector has a coil, possibly with a soft iron core, which is fixed in relation to the closure head. With a relative rotation between the coil and the magnets, a voltage is induced in the coil, which can be used in a simple manner in a connected evaluation device.
- the detector can be arranged in a stationary manner in a specific region of the circular orbit of the closing heads. Depending on whether the capping heads in addition to the orbital movement Execute self rotation or not then a different signal results in the detector, which in turn can be easily evaluated.
- the detector can, but does not have to, cover the entire orbit of the capping heads. According to a preferred development of the invention, it only monitors that area in which, in the normal course of the closing process after the screw closure has been tightened with the set torque of the magnetic coupling, the closing head no longer performs its own rotation. However, if an internal rotation of the magnets is registered in this area, this is, among other things, an indication of one or more of the following errors or faults:
- capping head turns due to worn teeth of the capping cone
- Fig. 1 shows the schematic plan view of a
- FIG. 2 shows the vertical section through a single closing device of the closing mechanism according to FIG. 1 in the region of the angle R.
- FIG. 3 shows the top view of the magnet arrangement of the closing device according to FIG. 2
- FIG. 4 shows the top view of the hysteresis ring of the closing device according to FIG. 2.
- the capping machine M is set up for the continuous capping of PET bottles 3 with conventional plastic screw caps and integrated in a filling system.
- This also includes a filling machine 10, a transfer star 11 which transfers the bottles 3 filled with a drink from the filling machine 10 to the closing mechanism M, and a discharge star 12 which takes over the filled and closed bottles 3 from the closing mechanism M and transfers them to a requestor 13 10, the transfer star 11 and the run-out star 12, only the partial circles are shown in FIG. 1.
- the closing mechanism M has a rotor 15 which can be driven continuously in the direction of the arrow about a vertical axis 14 and on which a plurality of similar closing devices 1 are arranged, distributed uniformly over the circumference. in the The structure of one of these closing devices 1 is explained in more detail below with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4.
- the device 1 has a spindle 4 rotatably mounted in the rotor 15 with a vertical axis of rotation.
- the spindle 4 is composed of several parts, which are hatched in a uniform manner to the right.
- a closing head 5 with an equally vertical axis of rotation is freely rotatably supported by means of two roller bearings 16.
- the capping head 5 is also composed of several parts, which are hatched with a uniform hatch on the left.
- the closing head 5 has in a conventional manner a resilient hold-down 17, a toothed closing cone 18 and an elastic retaining ring 19 for the screw closures, not shown.
- Eight permanent magnets 7 with alternating polarity are fastened to the outside of the closing head 5, as shown in FIG. 3.
- the arrangement of the permanent magnets 7, which is cylindrical on the outside, is surrounded concentrically with a small air gap by a hysteresis ring 2 made of material with high permeability, for example soft iron, which is fastened to the inside of the spindle 4 at the level of the permanent magnets 7.
- the permanent magnets 7 and the hysteresis ring 2 together form a magnetic coupling 6, more precisely a hysteresis coupling, which transfers a predetermined torque from the driven spindle 4 to the closing head 5, which is rotatably mounted relative to the latter, in a large speed range.
- the size of the torque can be adjusted by adjusting the height of the hysteresis ring 2; 2 shows the setting with maximum torque on the left side and the setting with minimum torque on the right side.
- the permanent magnets 7 remain at the same level.
- a horizontal holding plate 21 for a bottle 3 to be closed is fastened to the underside of the rotor 15 for each closure device 1 by means of vertical rods 20, which has a U-shaped recess 22 for the bottle neck which is open radially outwards having.
- a support 23 provided with a plurality of upwardly directed tips is attached.
- the bottle 3 to be closed rests with its support ring on the support 23 or its tips and is thus secured against rotation in cooperation with the pressing force exerted by the spring-loaded hold-down device 17.
- the bottle 3 is held in the recess 22 by a stationary guide bend 24.
- the guide sheet 24 covers the entire transport area of the bottles 3 in the area of the capping mechanism M and is fastened to the non-rotating upper part of the rotor 15, not shown, with a plurality of stationary columns 25. Bottom support for bottles 3 is not provided.
- the spindles 4 are displaced by a planetary gear, not shown, in their own rotation, specifically in the winding area marked with V and R of their orbit.
- the closure angle denoted by V is required for proper closure of the bottle 3, the spindles 4 and the closure head 5, which is carried via the hysteresis coupling 6, making a maximum of approximately 2.7 revolutions in the case of conventional screw closures.
- the screw cap with the set torque is then screwed tightly onto the bottle 3 and this is properly sealed.
- the spindles 4 are displaced further in rotation; the closing heads 5, however, are here normally silent, the slip being absorbed by the hysteresis clutch 6.
- a stationary detector 8 for monitoring the speed of the closing heads 5 is arranged in the region of the residual angle R.
- the detector 8 is rigidly attached to the guide arch 24 or its support columns 25, namely at the level of the permanent magnets 7. It lies with its sensor surface facing the axis 14 at a short distance from the orbit of the spindles 4.
- Detector 8 an elongated coil 9 with good electrical conductivity liquid-tight, which is connected to a detection circuit 26.
- the coil 9 is aligned horizontally and in the exemplary embodiment covers the residual angle R exactly.
- a capping head 5 runs past the detector 8 without self-rotation, a more or less large but constant voltage is induced in the coil 9 depending on the angular position of the permanent magnets 7. If, on the other hand, the closing head 5 executes its own rotation as it passes the detector 8, a pulsating or alternating voltage is induced by the permanent magnets 7 rotating past the coil 9. This different voltage or signal curve can be distinguished without a doubt by the detection device 26. This generates an error signal when it detects a pulsating or alternating voltage. This error signal is forwarded to an evaluation device 27 connected to the detector 8.
- the evaluation device 27 triggers an alarm signal, whereby the operating personnel is made aware of the spinning capping head 5, which is a sign of one of the faults a) to c) described in the introduction to the description. It is also possible that the evaluation device 27 triggers the sorting out of the bottle 3 processed by the spinning capping head 5 when an error signal is received. This can be done, for example, with the aid of controllable clamps (not shown) in the outlet star 12, which sort the defective bottles onto their own conveyor track 28. It is furthermore expedient to couple the evaluation device 27 to a bottle sensor (not shown), which, in the absence of a bottle 3, suppresses an erroneous error signal under a then closing cap 5.
- the evaluation device 27 may identify and display the spinning closing head, for which purpose, for example, an angle encoder monitoring the exact angular position of the rotor 15 is connected. This is also advantageous in order to inform the evaluation device 27 or the detection circuit 26 of the respective speed of the rotor 5 or the spindles 4.
- the hysteresis ring 2 of the magnetic coupling 6 is arranged between the permanent magnet 7 on the closing head 5 and the detector 8.
- the evaluation by the coil 9 is not disturbed thereby, since the hysteresis ring 7 has a high permeability, but does not itself have a magnetic field.
- the magnetic fields generated by the permanent magnets 7 strike through the hysteresis ring 2 through to the coil 9.
- the detector 8 can also cover a larger circumferential angle of the closing heads 5 and it can also have a plurality of coils 9. It is also possible to monitor at certain points whether a closing head 5 is rotating and to generate an error signal if it does not carry out any self-rotation, e.g. at the closing angle V.
