Definitions
- the present invention relates to a screw cap made of plastic for bottles, with a closure body having an internal thread and a guarantee band.
- Screw caps of this type are widespread and are used in particular in glass or plastic bottles for soft drinks. These bottles are standardized in various sizes and are in circulation in very large quantities, whether as single-use or as reusable bottles. In particular, the bottle neck with thread is standardized in these bottles, so that uniform screw caps can be used despite different sizes. Although this offers many advantages, it has the decisive disadvantage that it is hardly possible to change the bottle neck geometry due to the fact that bottles are constantly circulating in large quantities, and thus the screw caps have to be adapted as so-called disposable items to the given bottle neck or thread geometry . Changes in the bottle neck screw cap system can therefore only be made economically on the screw cap.
- the known plastic screw caps for bottles usually have a closure body with an internal thread and a guarantee band.
- the guarantee tape is usually designed so that it at least when opening the screw cap from the closure body partially solves. This is to show the consumer whether the bottle has already been opened or is still intact.
- the guarantee band is usually designed as a ring and connected to the closure body by thin bridges. Furthermore, the guarantee band has holding cams or lamellae lying on the inside which, when screwed on, form a so-called locking ring and engage behind the locking ring of the bottle. This is usually arranged in connection with the external thread towards the bottle body on the bottle neck and, in the standardized form, has a slightly larger or the same diameter than the external thread arranged in front of it.
- the guarantee band expands somewhat when the screw cap is screwed on due to the given basic elasticity of the plastic in the circumferential direction, so that the retaining cams or lamellae of the guarantee band arranged on the inside can slide over the locking ring and after the end of the Engage the screw-on process and reach behind the locking ring.
- the retaining cams or lamellae now hold the guarantee band to the locking ring, while the bridges intended as a predetermined breaking point tear due to the tension created in the material. Due to the destroyed connection between the guarantee band and the closure body, it can be seen at a glance that the bottle has already been opened.
- the guarantee band when the screw closure is screwed on, it completely detaches from the closure body and remains as a ring on the bottle neck.
- this is particularly disadvantageous with regard to disposal, since the melt band is contaminated by the guarantee band remaining on the bottle neck for disposable bottles that are melted again after single use.
- the melt band In the case of reusable bottles, however, must be re-used Filling and closing with a screw cap first remove the old guarantee tape before the new screw cap can be applied.
- the second known embodiment of the guarantee tape tears open when the screw closure is screwed on, but remains completely on the closure body.
- the protruding ends of the guarantee tape are regarded as disadvantageous because they disrupt the consumer when screwing on or unscrewing the screw cap and can also lead to injuries.
- the aesthetics also speak against this embodiment of the guarantee band, since the protruding ends are perceived by the consumer as disturbing.
- the guarantee band has at least one stretching device and the stretching device has at least one fixed point with the closure body.
- This inventive design of a screw cap both achieves a secure guarantee function and ensures that the guarantee band remains on the closure body.
- the guarantee band expands due to the conical design of the locking ring and therefore slides with its retaining cams or slats over the locking ring, while the bridges between the guarantee band and the closure body are loaded under pressure when screwing on and therefore do not tear.
- the retaining cams or lamellae When the bottle is opened, however, by unscrewing the screw cap, the retaining cams or lamellae first hold the guarantee band firmly on the locking ring, so that the bridges between the guarantee band and the closure body are now subjected to tension. By turning the closure body further, the train in the bridges is increased further, so that they finally tear. However, the guarantee band remains on the fastener body due to the fixed point, while the tension in the guarantee band is further increased by turning the fastener body further, and thereby the stretching device stretches the guarantee band to such an extent that it can slide over the locking ring.
- the stretching device has at least two recesses which run essentially transversely in the guarantee band and are open towards opposite guarantee band edges.
- the guarantee band advantageously has two stretching devices arranged on opposite sides of the guarantee band. This enables a simple stretching of the guarantee band in a simple manner, so that it can slide over the locking ring easily and without getting stuck when the screw cap is screwed on.
- the stretching device has two recesses which are arranged on one side of the fixed point. This enables a targeted stretching of the guarantee band from one side of the fixed point.
- the stretching device has two recesses which are arranged on opposite sides of the fixed point, so that here the stretching of the guarantee band from the fixed point takes place evenly on both sides.
- the guarantee tape is free of vertical tear lines.
- there is no vertical predetermined breaking point in the guarantee band as is the case, for example, with screw closures according to DE-A-42 06 123 and EP-A-0 460 557.
- the guarantee band is separated into two functional halves. The first half essentially serves to take over the expansion of the guarantee band during manufacture and during screwing on the bottle. The stretching function is essentially ensured by the undercut of the holding cams and a further connection to the closure body. This first half of the guarantee band can expand freely and extremely regardless of the second half. The second half of the guarantee band essentially serves to ensure the guarantee function.
- the expansion element in connection with a horizontal integration ensures the expansion during production.
- the purpose of the separation into two functional halves in this embodiment is to be seen in the fact that the second half has to take up less expansion than the first half. This further improves the guarantee function and the resealing of the bottles by the consumer.
- FIG. 1 is a side view of a first embodiment of the screw cap according to the invention in the screwed-on state with a partial section through the guarantee band,
- FIG 3 is a side view of the first embodiment when unscrewing with a partial section through the guarantee tape
- FIG. 5 is a side view of a second embodiment of the screw cap according to the invention in the screwed-on state with a partial section through the guarantee band
- Fig. 6 is a side view of the second embodiment when screwing with two partial sections through the guarantee tape
- Fig. 7 is a side view of the second embodiment when unscrewing with two partial sections through the guarantee tape.
- the screw closure 10 consists essentially of the closure body 12 and the guarantee tape
- the guarantee band 14 is connected to the bridges 16 and the fixed point 18 to the closure body 12. Furthermore, the guarantee band 14 has holding cams 15 on the inside and a stretching device 20.
- This stretching device 20 has two recesses 22 and 24, each of which is designed as a slot.
- the recess 22 is open to the closure body 12, while the recess 24 is open to the bottle body, of which only the bottle neck 30 is shown for the sake of simplicity.
- the guarantee band 14 is not stretched and the retaining cams 15 engage behind the locking ring 32 on the bottle neck 30.
- the retaining cams 15 of the guarantee band 14 and thus the guarantee band 14 are pressed radially outward even when the screw cap 10 is screwed onto the bottle neck 30.
- the stretching device 20 with the two recesses 22 and 24 enables an accordion-like extension of the guarantee band 14, as shown in FIG. 2. Since the closure body 12 of the screw cap 10 when screwing on presses the fixed point 18 and the bridges 16, these are loaded under pressure and can therefore not tear. If the screw cap is now screwed further onto the bottle neck 30, the retaining cams 15 of the guarantee band 14 engage behind the locking ring 32 and the guarantee band 14 contracts again. The state shown in FIG. 1 is then achieved.
- Fig. 3 the first embodiment of the screw cap 10 when unscrewing the bottle neck 30 is shown.
- the holding cams 15 initially resting on the locking ring 32 hold the guarantee band 14 and thus also the closure body 12 on the bottle neck 30 via the fixed point 18 and the bridges 16.
- the train in the bridges 16 is finally so strong that they tear.
- the guarantee band 14 is held by the fixed point 18 on the closure body 12, so that the guarantee band 14 is stretched by the stretching device 20 with the recesses 22 and 24 and the retaining cams 15 slide over the locking ring 32.
- the screw cap 10 can then be completely unscrewed from the bottle neck 30 while the guarantee band 14 is still on the closure body 12 and has no protruding ends. Through the torn off bridges 16, however, it is immediately apparent that this closure has already been used.
- the stretching device 20 with the recesses 22 and 24 enable the guarantee band 14 to be stretched (expanded) to such an extent that problem-free reclosure of the bottle neck 30 is possible.
- the guarantee tape 14 of the first embodiment is shown in a perspective view.
- the guarantee band 14 has two stretching devices 20 arranged on opposite sides, each of which has two recesses 22 and 24, respectively. These recesses 22 and 24 are formed as slots, which are each open to the opposite band edges.
- On the inside of the guarantee band 14 are holding cams 15 which are arranged section by section in the embodiment shown here. However, they can also be arranged all around on the inside.
- two fixed points 18 and several bridges 16 are formed on the top of the guarantee band 14.
- connection y would be thicker than the connection x.
- the screw cap 10 consists essentially of a closure body 12 and a guarantee band 14 and is shown here in the state screwed onto a bottle neck 30.
- the Guarantee tape 14 is attached to the closure body 12 with a fixed point 18 and bridges 16.
- the guarantee band 14 has retaining cams 15 which engage behind the locking ring 32 in the screwed-on state shown here.
- the guarantee band 14 has a stretching device 20, likewise with two recesses 22 and 24.
- the recesses 22 and 24 are designed as slots and are each open to opposite edges of the guarantee band.
- the fixed point 18 is arranged between the two recesses 22 and 24 in this second embodiment.
- Fig. 6 the second embodiment is shown in a side view with a partial section through the guarantee tape 14 when unscrewing, and in Fig. 7 when unscrewing. Since the operation of the stretching device 20 has already been described in detail with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4 has been described, a new description can be omitted here.
- the first half A essentially serves to take over the expansion of the guarantee band 14 during manufacture during the screwing-on process onto the bottle.
- the expansion function is essentially ensured by the undercut of the holding cams 15, the bridges 16 and the connection N (FIG. 6).
- Half A can expand freely and independently of the second half B.
- it can be useful to provide an additional light connection Z (shown in dashed lines in FIG. 6).
- the second half B essentially serves to ensure the guarantee function.
- the expansion element 20 in conjunction with the horizontal connection M ( Figure 6) ensures the stretch during manufacture.
- the difference in the wall thicknesses between the connections M and Z essentially achieves the same as in the first embodiment due to the differences in the connections X and Y.
