Definitions
- Squeegee devices which are intermittently reciprocated in flat stencils or squeegee devices of a different type which are functionally constructed and which e.g. are arranged to stand still and on which the stencil intermittently moves back and forth are known. It is also known that squeegees or squeegee devices are temporarily lifted off the template. This is particularly common in the case of the so-called tipping squeegees, which are squeegees which consist of two squeegee strips with an interposed ink space, with only the squeegee strip at the back in the direction of movement being in contact with or squeegeeed.
- a squeegee process composed of several successive movement sequences, which can be combined with magnetic squeegee pressure and in which the squeegee or squeegee bar carries out a horizontal relative movement relative to the stencil in addition to the lifting process taking place in the edge region of the stencil, and thereby at the end each stroke of the squeegee skips the ink supply located on the stencil in front of the squeegee, in order then to be lowered into the area between this ink supply and the stencil frame after reaching the end position in the next movement sub-step of the squeegee working method. Due to this course of movement, the squeegee reaches a new initial contact area in the stencil and is thus behind the ink supply quantity in the stencil for the next following squeegee stroke.
- doctor pressure required for the doctoring process is not introduced into the doctor or knife bar in the manner known from the prior art, but that the mechanical aids of the doctor device used to move the doctor or doctor bar are only those according to the one described above Work process necessary movement sequence cause and that the doctor pressure required for the application process either by gravity (evenly distributed over the entire length of the squeegee weight or weight of the bar) or by magnetic force introduced into the squeegee bar or squeegee holding bar or into the squeegee element, which is a requires at least partially magnetizable design of these parts.
- doctor method according to the invention brings advances in doctor technology by eliminating the above-described disadvantageous properties of doctor devices which are pressed and moved by magnetic force and also has the significant advantages of the doctor devices which are mechanically pressed or moved mechanically to have wide uniform doctor blade pressure and the electrical adjustability of the doctor pressure.
- the invention presented herewith thus combines in a particularly advantageous manner positive properties which were previously reserved either for the only mechanically pressed and mechanically moved or the only magnetically pressed doctor devices.
- the fact that the squeegee lies freely makes it possible for the squeegee device to be constructed in a lightweight construction.
- the squeegee support structure may be of the type required by the prior art the pressure on the squeegee is relieved and the squeegee only has to hold it for the purpose of lifting off and possibly moving it back and forth. For this, considerably lower forces are required than for pressing the squeegee in the manner previously practiced.
- an undesirable slight bending between the squeegee bar and the squeegee element no longer acts dysfunction in relation to the uniformity of the doctor pressure across the entire doctor lay length or application width.
- FIGS. 1 to 5 The invention generally described above is illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5 in terms of process technology and using a construction example of a device according to the invention.
- Figures 6 to 8 show, as an additional embodiment, one of the possible inclination variants.
- FIGS. 1 to 4 show the representation of a doctor device constructed according to the invention and the working cycles according to the method which this device carries out.
- Reference number 1 designates the squeegee as a whole (squeegee carrier or squeegee holding bar 5 or squeegee bar
- Edge area impervious to color and in the work area is translucent).
- 3 denotes the dye or substance supply located in the template.
- 4 denotes the squeegee bar or squeegee holding bar, which can be made in one or more parts.
- this bar is T-shaped and inserted into a one-piece or multi-piece support and holding bar 5. The attachment of this support and holding strip 5 can be carried out by different constructive measures, an example is shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 and a further example in FIGS. 6 to 8.
- Numeral 6 denotes the actual doctor element, which in the construction examples Fig. 1-8 consists of magnetizable material and in which, as will be shown later, a work bar can optionally be inserted.
- FIG. 1 (12) The right-hand part of FIG. 1, designated by number 1 (12), shows the working position (12) of the squeegee 1 reached after execution of the squeegee movement in the direction of arrow 11 in dashed lines. Then, while the movement in the direction of arrow 11 continues at the same time, the lifting movement of the doctor blade 1 in the direction of arrow 13 begins until the end position (14) is reached. From this position denoted by 1 (14), the doctor blade is lowered again in the direction of arrow 15 until it rests on the template or the magnetic bar 9 located thereunder.
- the arrow 17 denotes the next following squeegee movement until the position (18) is reached, which is designated 1 (18) and 9 (18) in the left half of FIG. 2. This is one of the working positions of the doctor device.
- the arrow 19 denotes the further continuation of the squeegee movement started with the arrow 17 until the second end position is reached, which is denoted by 1 (22) or 1 (9) in dashed lines.
- the numbers 6 (20) and 6 (21) denote the doctor element 6 in two different positions of its course of movement between position (18) and position (22).
- Fig. 3 the parts moved with the doctor blade 1, which serve to hold and move it, are shown.
- the U-shaped holding part 23 for the support and holding bar 5 ensures that the doctor device 1 can be moved both horizontally and vertically.
- the squeegee 1 or its support and holding strip 5 is mounted in the U-shaped holding part so as to be vertically displaceable.
- On the retaining bar 5 is one Console 24 attached to which a roller 25 is movably mounted about an axis 26. If upward forces act on this roller 25 in a manner to be described, the doctor device 1 is lifted out of the holding part 23 and thus removed from the template.
- the squeegee support and holding strip 5 can be moved by means of the holding part 23 along the flat template relative to the flat template 2 and to the lever 29 mounted on the axis 31 or to the cam 32 which can be pivoted about the axis 33.
- the longitudinal movement of the holding part 23 can be done in very different ways.
- a push rod 41 is used for this purpose, which slides in a guide rail 42 and is connected to the holding part 23 via a bracket 40.
- the magnetic bar 9 can also be moved along the template 2 in the present case, namely by means of a push rod 43, which allows it to roll along the guide rail 44.
- a work bar 38 is inserted in the doctor element 6, which consists of magnetizable material.
- a magnetizable part 39 can also be inserted into a doctor element 6 made of non-magnetizable material.
- the magnetic bar 9 is equipped with two rows 34 and 36 of magnets, of which the front one is switched off during the doctoring process.
- the row of magnets following in the working direction is switched off at the end of a doctor stroke in order to remove the magnetic pressure on the doctor.
- the push rods 41 and 43 can be moved by a common drive or by a separate drive. In the case of a stationary arrangement of the squeegee device and the magnetic bar and a template which is moved together with a web, such movement devices, e.g. those designated 41 to 44 are not required.
- the mobility of the squeegee strip 4 can be limited to the displaceability parallel to the squeegee element 6.
- the squeegee strip 4 can, however, also be made pivotable in order to be able to incline it in the direction of the application movement. As shown in FIGS. 6-8, the pivoting can take place together with the doctor blade support bar 5 or alternatively to this. From the constructions according to FIGS. 1-5, the one according to FIGS. 6-8 differs essentially in that instead of the construction parts 23 to 26 shown in FIGS. 3-5 and a moving rod 41 (FIG.
- a bracket 45 is provided which is attached to a longitudinal movement rod 47 with a pin elongated hole connection 46. An additional displacement of this movement rod 47 in the direction of arrows 48 or 49 causes an inclined position. After this inclination, the movement rod 47 and the magnetic bar 9 are moved together and in parallel in the direction of either the arrows 50, 51 or 52, 53 for the doctoring process.
- pre-flooding is possible when the magnetic field is switched off.
- the squeegee bar only slides over the stencil with its own weight and distributes a layer of paint. This can then be pressed into the web with the magnetic field switched on. In the event of a shutdown, the flooding counteracts the drying of the stencil.
- the doctor element 6 is slightly bendable in a vertical plane running along the doctor blade 1. This bendability can be achieved, even in the case of a squeegee element which is not deformable in its cross-sectional plane, in that the squeegee element 6 is provided with incisions from above which severely restrict the cross section which extends over the entire length of the squeegee element 6.
