TRANSFURIER CASE.

UNITED "STATES PATENTY OFFICE.
JAMES W. PACIKARD, OF VARREN, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A TRANSFORM EF1-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,853, datedlMay 23, 1899.
Application filed April 22, 1899. Serial No. 714.109- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whofnl it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES W. PACKARD, a 'citizen of the United States, residing at Warren, in the county of Trumbull and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original- Design for Transformer Cases, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the rear side and one end of a. transformer-case of my original design. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a perspective showing the front and one end of the case, and Fig. 4 is au end elevation.
The leading features of the new and original design for transformer-cases illustrated in the drawings are the forms of the body and cover and the arrangement and shape of the devices provided for suspending or supporting the'case.
Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that the body A is substantially elliptical in horizontal'cross-section. The lower end of the body is somewhat smaller than the upper portion, the walls a' of said reduced portion being curved inwardly and extending on curved lines from the lower end of the larger portion of the body to the bottom thereof.
The case is provided at its lower corners with lugs or feet a2 of the form shown.
The hangers or hook-shaped supports B for the case are shaped to provide a right-angled member that extends outwardly and downwardly from the rear wall of the case, the horizontal section of each hanger being also connected with the casing-wall by a rib b, whose outer surface is of eonvexed form, and the lower pair of hangers B are connected with the easin g at the lower end of the larger portion of the body A so that they extend downwardly across the outer wall of the re duced lower end of said body, as shown particularly in Figs. l and 4.
The top C is of such shape as toconform to and it snugly about the upper end of the body A. This upper end is offset from the body somewhat, so as to form a laterally-pro jecting rim a about the top of the case. The cover has the outer horizontal border portion c, which is relatively wider at the ends of the case than at the sides thereof, and a central horizontal panel c', which is connected with the border c by inclined surfaces c.
The ends of the cover C, as shown, comprise two outwardly bowed or curved side sections c, which are connected by a shorter curved member c of less radius than the parts c. Circular bosses or raised portions E are formed on the end sections of the outer horizontal cover-panel c, the outer vertical surfaces of which lie flush with and conform to the curved sections c, aforesaid.
The body A is also provided at ils ends with hangers B', which extend outwardly from the expanded rim at the upper end of the body between the curved sections c of the ends of the cover.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a transformer-case substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afl-lx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
M. S. ANDREWS, F. M. RUSSELL.
