UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRY E. IIO\VARD, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A METAL BRACKET FOR LADDERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,735, dated November 29, 1898.
Application filed October 13, 1898. Serial No. 693,456. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HARRY E. HOWARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original shape or Design for a Metal Bracket for Ladders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of abracket embodying the features of my new design. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a rear elevation.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design for a bracket consist of a rectangular box A, having sides a, a, and a but Without top or bottom. Ex tending at right angles from the sides a a, respectively, are wings B and C, the former being considerably longer than the latter. At the top of the wing B is a flange b, which extends the full length of the wing and beyond,
the extending portion being bent up at right angles to form an ear or lug b. The wing G is also provided with a flange alongits upper edge, as c, and its extended portion bent up at right angles to form an ear or lug c.
Extending across the open side of the box A is a tongue D, which lapsover onto the wing B, as shown.
The side a of the box A, The tongue D, the wings B and C, and the lugs b and c are all perforated.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a metal bracket for ladders, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
