(Applimiion mod Nov. 26, 1900.)
Mil 7 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB S. LOWRY, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A DEFLECTOR FOR FLOOR-REGISTERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,795, dated December 25, 1900.
Application filed November 26, 1900. derial No. 37,842. Term of patent li years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JACOB S. LOWRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and 'ginal Design for Deflectors for Floor-Registers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a floor-register deflector, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same looking from the right-hand open end. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the same looking from the left-hand open end.
The same letters of reference are used to indicate identical parts in all the figures.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a box-shaped deflector, rectangular in plan sec- 1 tion, having parallel vertical sides fiat on their bottom edges, curved top edges forming a continuous curve from the middle to each end, the middle portion being about twice as high as the end portion, and a top or covering uniting the vertical sides and forming a continuous curve corresponding to the curve of the top edges of the vertical sides, said top terminating at the ends of the vertical sides and having beading at such terminating edges, leaving open contracted throats at both ends of the deflector.
In the drawings, A are the vertical side pieces, fiat on their bottom edges and curved on their top edges from the middle both ways and downward, forming a continuous curve, which is substantially the arc of a circle, and terminating in end walls a, of a height just about one-half of the height of the middle portions of the Vertical side pieces. Connecting these side pieces and entirely covering the tops thereof is a curved hood-piece B,conforming to the curves of the top edges of the side pieces and terminating at both ends in headings b, as shown, leaving open throats at both ends of the side pieces.
The deflector of the shape described is very graceful and ornamental in appearance, and What is most striking to the eye is that it is considerably elevated at the middle and then describe agradual curved descent toward its narrow or contracted throats at both ends.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a floor-register deflector, as herein shown and described.
JACOB S. LOWRY.
