GRAVE GUARD.
(Application filed UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN F. GEIGER, OF DANSVILLE, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A GRAVE-GUARD.
SPECIFICATION formingpartof Design No. 30,870, dated May 23, 18.99. Application filed April 20, 1899. Serial No- '713,'798. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN F. GEIGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dansville, in the county of Livingston and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Grave-Guards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The accompanying drawing represents a perspective view of the new design of a graveguard.
The leading or material feature of the design consists of an oblong frame having sloping and downwardly-diverging sides and ends which are of open or skeleton work, being composed of a series of oblique bars so arranged as to leave diamond-shaped openings intervening between the same.
The design involves a plurality of sloping sides and ends 1, diverging from upper toward their lower edges. Each side and end is composed of a series of oblique bars 2, one series of bars extending parallel to each other and in one direction, another series of bars crossing the aforesaid bars at acute angles and inclining in the opposite direction, thus leaving diamond-shaped openings or spaces 3 between the intersecting bars. Extending along the top of the grave-guard is a horizontally-disposed flange 4, which is continuous around the top edge of the guard. A similarly-disposed flange 5 extends continuously around the lower edge of the guard and projects outward or laterally from the bottom edges of the sides and ends. WVhile the upper and lower flanges are parallel to each other and disposed horizontally, they extend outward laterally at acute and obtuse angles to the sloping and downwardly-divergin g sides and ends of the guard.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a grave-guard, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HERMAN F. GEIGER. Witnesses:
J. M. EDWARDS, PETER GEIGER.
