.UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB S. LOWRY, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A FLOOR-REGISTER DEFLECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,694, dated December 11, 1900.
Application filed May 7, 1900. Serial No. 15,842. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB S. LoWEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Deflectors for Floor-Registers, of which the following is a specifica- Iion, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
I Figure l is a perspective view of a floorregister deflector showing my new design and looking at the same from its front end. Fig.
2 is a corresponding view of the same, looking from the rear.
The same letters of reference indicate identical parts in both figures.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a deflector having parallel vertical sides and a top forming a continuous curve extending from the bottom edges of the sides at one end up around the curved top edges of the sides, which are considerably higher near their rear ends than at their forward ends, and thence downward to the top forward ends of the sides, where the cover terminates in a beading.
In the drawings, A represents the vertical side pieces, flat on their bottom edges and curved on their top edges, the curve extending up from the rear almost, if not quite, in the arc of a circle, and thence extending forwardly and downwardly to the front edges of the side pieces, which edges, as well as the pieces themselves, are perpendicular. The height of the side pieces on the radii of the rear arc is twice that of the height of the front edges. Connecting these side pieces and entirelycovering the top and rear of the same is acurved hood-piece B, whose rear end starts at the bottom edges of the side pieces, and then it conforms to and is united to the top edges of the same and extends forward to the front edges, as shown, leaving an open throat between the forward edge of the hood and the bottom edges of the side pieces. As seen in both figures, the forward edge of the hood is headed, as at a.
The deflector of the shape described is very graceful and ornamental in appearance, and what is most striking to the eye is that its rear side is considerably elevated, and it then describes a gradual descent toward its narrow or contracted throat.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a floor-register deflector, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JACOB S. LOWRY.
