SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 786,674, dated April 4, 1905.
Application filed lpril 13, 1804. Serial No. 202,969.
To all whom it 12v/ay concern:
Be it known that l, Josnrn J. PoLsxI, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Box., of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a box which is capable of general use, but is especially applicable for holding beer-bottles.
The object of my invention is to provide a box which will be strong and durable without materially increasing the cost of manu- Ifacture and which will be especially adapted for the purpose of holdingI beer-bottles and `the like.
Further objects will appear in the course of .of a box` said end pieces being preferably constructed of wood. in the form shown in Fig. 3 the end pieces, which are represented by o', are provided with edge corrugations adapted to iit the corrugations of the sides and bottom of the box, which are formed of a corrugated piece of sheet metal This piece of sheet metal preferably extends from one upper edge around the bottom of the box to the opposite upper edge and is provided with locking extensions o. which extend over and are fastened to the top edges of the end pieces. The ends of the sheet of metal are preferably bent over, shown at 52, and. secured back in the inside of the box for the purpose of furnishing' additional strength and a smooth upper edge. The end pieces are preferably provided with the usual openings a2 to serve as hand-grips.
It will be obvious that a box constructed as herein disclosed will consist of only three separate parts. each one of which will be of the simplest construction and capable of being very cheaply manufactured. it will also be seen that box of high durability is secured and one that will not be damaged by any or` dinary uses.
Having thus described my invention, l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patenti.. A box composed of sides and a bottom formed of a single piece of corrugated sheet `metal, rigid ends, and extending lockingtongues integral with said single piece of sheet metal and in contact with the top edges of said ends.
2. A beer-box comprising' sides and a bottom formed of a single piece of sheet metal having longitudinal corrugations throughout its entire surface, and rigid ends, the edges of said ends having edge corrugations corresponding to those of the sides and the bottom, and the sides having projecting tongues for securing them to the ends.
ln testimony whereof l have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JQSEPH J. POLSKI.
