Description

DESIGN.
M. GRISWOLD, Jr. GAS STOVE LEG.
No. 28,313. Patented Feb. 22, 1898.
WITNESSES: INVENTOR Aia ATTOR N EY UNITED STATES MATTHEW GRISV OLD, JR,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A GAS-STOVE LEG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,313, dated February 22, 1898.
Application filed December 10,1897. Serial No. 661,466. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MATTHEW GRIswoLn, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and n'oduced anew and original Design for a Gas- Stove Leg; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.
The drawing shows a perspective View of a gas-stove leg.
The leading features of my design consist, substantially, of the form of the legs of a gasstove, the upper part of the leg being forked where it joins the stove-base, so as to leave a. U-shaped opening therein which extends downward half the length of the leg, more or less, the lower portion of the leg consisting of a single foot extending downward from the central portion of the bottom of the U-shaped portion.
In the drawing, A A are the branches, forming the upper portion of the leg, provided with shoulders (I a and slotted angular ends a a" on the tops thereof to engage the base of a stove. From the bottom of the U-shaped opening between the branches A A a foot 1; extends downward and curves slightly outward near the lower end thereof, which is rounded in contour, forming the lower portion of the leg. Around the inner and outer edges of the front surface of the leg there is a slight head Z), and across the front surfaces of the tops of the branches A A this bead b is formed into serrations b, and on the lower portion of the center of the front surface of the foot B there is a small foliate figure 0, the base of which springs from the inner edge of the head 2).
Having thus described my design, which consists rather in the general contour of the stove-leg than the ornamentation thereof, what I claim is The design for a gas-stove leg, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MATTHEW GRISIVOLD, J R.
