Description

DESIGN.
C- D. ORGUTT.
PATENTED MAR. 3 1
V STOOL. APPLICATION FILED FEB. 20, 1903.
WITNESSES:
INVENTOR ATTORNEK UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES D. OROUTT, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A STOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No; 36,263, dated March 31, 1903;
Application filed February 20, 1903. Serial No. 144,340. Term of patent years.
To all whom it fled/y concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES D. OROUTT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new, original, and ornamental Design for a Stool; and Ido declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The drawing is a perspective view of a stool, showing my new design.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material features of my design consist in the specific ornamentations of the leg and the skirting, the latter lying along the lower portion of the stool between the legs, and also the upholstered part of the stool, which consists in a series ofindividual mounds throughout the surface of said upholstered part. The lower portion 1 of the leg is plain, with the exception of the extreme lower end thereof, which is provided with surface ornamentations of more or less irregular forms. The ripper portion of the leg is considerably broader than the lower portion and is provided with a series of ornamentations 2, which consist of scrollwork that gradually increases in its outspreading form as it approaches the top of the le The ornamentations lying between this scrollwork consist of a series of circular figures 3, which are graduated as they extend upwardly on the surface of the leg, the uppermost one of said circular figures 3 being the largest of the series. Above this series of circular figures and lying between the scrollwork on the extreme upper end of the leg is an ornamental figure 4:, which combines with the scrollwork and the other ornamentations described to present a homogeneousblendingof ornamentations. Assembled or associated with this character of ornamentations are the ornamental features of the skirting, which extend around the lower edge of the stool and consist of a series of scrolls 5 5, the enlarged ends of each of said series curving in opposite directions and two of said series of scrollwork lying between a leg of the stool and a center figure 8. The last-named figure is inclosed betweenthe curved ends of two of the scrolls 5, and the bottom of said figure terminates in a circular figure 7, the whole presenting a series of scrollwork which joins the central figure 8. The upholstered part of the stool consists of a series of moundlike surfaces, between which and the skirting there is a plain surface 10.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The ornamental design for a stool as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES D. OROUTT.
