DE \VATT PEPPER, OF NEW MILFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A DlVAN-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,201, dated January 27, 1903.
Application filed December 26. 1902. Serial No. 136,748 Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom, it nmy concern.-
Be it known that I, DE WATT PEPPER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Milford, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Divan-Frame; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The accompanying drawing shows a front elevation of my new design. I
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material features of my design consist of the back rail 1, perfectly plain throughout its middle portion and having adjoining its ends portions 2, which are bounded by parallel compound curves, which primarily sink below the horizontal plane of the portion 1 and then gradually rise to about a level with said plane and then extend downwardly substantially at right angles; the acanthus-like ornamentations 3, which surmount the portion 1 and extend in opposite directions; the shelllike ornamentations 4, which rise midway between the ornamentations 3 at the point where the latter meet, and the gradually-diverging flute-like portions 5, which extend upwardly from the ornamentations 3 on opposite sides of the shell-like figure 4; the side frame-pieces 6, having their front ends scrollshaped and bounded by compound curves which gradually diverge from the top to the bottom; the seat-frame, Whose front middle portion 7 is horizontally disposed and perfectly plain, the portions 8 of said seat-frame beyond the portion 7 being curved upwardly and bounded by convexo-concave curves, said portions 8 at their lateral extremities terminating in upwardly-extending knob-like portions 9, and the feet 10, upon which the portions 8 rest, said feet having general scrolllike ornamentations ll at the top immediately beneath the portions 8, while said feet themselves terminate in toe-like representations 12.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The ornamental design for a divan-frame, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DE WATT PEPPER. \Vitnesses:
