DESIGN.
G. C. LUNT. SPOON 0R FORK.
Patented July 2, 1895.
am-uq/wtoz a ibi-mu BEST AVAlLABLE COP i UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE O. LUNT, OF GREENFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE A. F. TOWLE & SON COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON OR FORK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,442, dated July 2, 1895.
Application filed June 6,1895. Serial No. 551,910. Term of patent 7 years.
"0 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE O. LUNT, a citian of the United States, residing at Greeneld, in the county of Franklin and State of [assachusett-s, have invented and produced new and original Design for a Spoon or ork Handle, of which the following is a specication, reference being had to the accomanying drawings, which form a part of the ame.
This invention relates to a design formed pon the handle of a spoon, fork, or similar rticle; and it consists in an ornamental conguration herein shown and claimed.
Figure 1 of the accom panying drawings repesents a front View of a spoon or a fork, as ndicated by dotted lines, containing my oriamental design. Fig. 2 represents a side or Edge view thereof.
The ornamental configuration constituting ny design is applied to the front or face of he handle of a spoon or fork, as indicated by lotted lines, or similar article.
The handle A extends outward from the oowl A, at first in slightly-curved converging .ines, then in nearly parallel lines, defined on each side by the marginal heads a a, up to the leafwork c, where the outline swells outward on each side at e e, and is then curved inward on each side at ff and then outward at the leafwork g g on each side at the top of the handle. \Vithin the marginal heads a a'and parallel thereto are two longitudinal beads a, a, which terminate at the base or lower ends in inwardly-turned scrolls. Between the terminal scrolls of heads a a is a three-part leaf 1). The interior beads a a are formed with outwardly-turned scroll and leafwork c c at the base of the outward curves or enlargements e e, the points of such leafwork turning over onto the marginal heads a a, as shown. Just above the lateral swells or enlargements e e the marginal beads 01. a are formed with inwardly-turned scroll and leafwork d d, the points of which turn over onto the inner beads and upon the body of the handle, extending upward into the inner curves ff of the handle, as shown. The inner and outer heads a a follow the inwardlycnrved contourff, and also extend, partly I hidden by the leafwork, to the top of the handle. The handle terminates at its tip with an upwardly-turned scalloped shell 71 On each side of the shell h the outwardlyswelling contour of the handle is ornamented with scroll-like stems g g and leafwork g g, having numerous inwardly-curved points, which overlap the lateral beads and lie upon the interior body of the handle, as shown. Just below the shell 7L, and between the lateral leaves g g, there is formed the central eat 75, having numerously outwardly-curved ateral points and a downwardly-extending central point lying upon the body of the handle, and also having a central longitudinal line of small knobs or beads, as shown.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
The design for spoons, forks and similar articles consisting of the ornamental configuration on the front of the handle, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEO. C. LUNT. Witnesses:
R. M. OAKMAN, Jr., K. M. SMITH.
