DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,502, dated May 19, 1896.
Application filed April 13, 1896. Serial No. 587,416. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, IRA B. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bristol, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Spoon, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,.in which- Figure l is a plan View of a spoon, showing my design. Fig. 2 is an edge View, and Fig. 3 is a reverse plan View, of the same.
My design comprises the shape and ornamentation of the handle.
A is the bowl of the spoon, and B its handie. Said handle, near its junction with the bowl, has a scalloped or beaded edge, as at 4, then plain edges along the narrow neck 5, and beaded or scalloped edges, as at 6, on the broad end 7 of the handle, as shown. The
ornamentation on the top of the handle comprises scroll-leaets S near the bowl end, border ribs or beads 9 along the edge of the narrow neck, inclosing a central row of bead-like ornaments 10 at the narrowest portion, and a double series or row of such ornaments l1 at the wider portion just inside the borderribs, with scroll-leaflets 12 at the junction of said three series of beads. The broad end 7 of the handle has near each edge a series of beadlike ornaments 13, and the tip 14 has a group of scroll-leaets l5. On the reverse side of the handle each edge has a series of leatlets 16, with a central series of small bead-like ornaments 17, then double border-ribs 18 along the narrow neck, a series of bead-like ornaments 19 at each edge of the broad end, while the tip I4 has a cluster of outwardly-turned leaflets 20, and a V-shaped series of beads 21 just inside of said cluster.
What I claim is- The design for a spoon substantially as shown and described.
