Description

DESIGN.
J. W. MAILLGT. SPOON, 6:0.
No. 20,782. Patented May 26,1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN T. MAILLOT, OF NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO F. M. lVI-IITING A17 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON, 81.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,782, dated May 26, 1891.
Application filed April 11, 1891. Serial No. 338,608- Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN W. MAILLoT, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spoons, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The accompanying fac-sirnile represents a plan view of a spoon provided with my design on the handle portion thereof.
The design which is the subject of the application is adapted to be applied to the handle of spoons of various kinds, forks, and like articles. It consists of a continuous line of ornamental scroll-Work beginning at one side of the intermediate portion between the handle and the bowl, extending around the edge to the upper end, Where it is enlarged in the shape of a part of a flower the leaves of which extend outward radially. From this point the scroll-work extends around the other edge of the spoon to the other edge of the handle, and thence along the edge to the narrow part again, terminating at a point opposite the beginning, the entire space between the ornamented edges of the spoon being left free for engraving of any suitable inscriptions. The generalform of the scroll is that of a series of compound curves, and this also constitutes the general shape of the handle forming a part of the design.
What I claim is The design for spoons, forks, herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
J. XV. MAILLQT.
and the like XVitnesses:
J 0s. E. POND, W. H. POND.
