- GEORGE A. MUELLER, OF CONCORD, NEWV HAMPSHIRE, ASSIGNOR TO WILLIAM B. DURGIN, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 86C- SPEGIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,170, dated April 10, 1894.
Application filed January 11, 1894:. Serial No. 496,546. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. MUELLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, in the county of Merrimac and "ate of New Hampshire, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Handles for Spoons and Similar Articles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a description of the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a new and original design for handles for spoons and similar articles, and it consists in the ornamental character and arrangement of the decorations and configurations hereinafter referred to and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 represents the obverse side of the handle, and Fig. 2 the reverse side.
The design for the obverse side of the handle consists of the representation of a cluster of chrysanthemu ms A located at the top, while directly below is a blank space E having a suitable fanciful border. Below the space B the handle is represented as being covered by leaves and flowers the spaceimmediatelybelow the space having thereon the representation of a chrysanthemum C.
The design for the reverse side of the handle consists of the representation of a large single chrysanthemum D occupying the space at the top, there being a blank space E directly below, which has borders at the sides consisting of the representation of leaves and flowers. Below this space E is the representation of a chrysanthemum F. The shank of the handle on the reverse sideis plain with a slight border on its opposite edges.
The essential features of the design are the handle having the peculiar floral decorations on the obverse extending to the bowl and the blank space near the top, and the reverse having the peculiarfloral decorations extending part way down the handle and the blank space near the top.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
1. The design for handles for spoons and similar articles substantially as shown and described.
2. In the design for handles for spoons and similar articles, the obverse substantially as shown and described.
3. In the design for handles for spoons and similar articles, the reverse substantially as shown and described.
