DESIGN.
J. w. MAILLOT. HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 6w.
, Patented Se t. 6, 1892.
. UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN W. MAILLOT, OF ATTLEBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,837, dated September 6, 1892.
Application filed August 6, 1892. Serial No. 442,388- Term of patent 3% yeirs To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN \V. MAILLOT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Attleborough, Bristol county, Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spoons, Forks, and the Like, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- aet specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents the design applied to a spoon-handle, the front of the spoon being shown. Fig. 2 is a View of the opposite face.
The leading feature of my design consists of an ornamental line of scrollwork following the line of the edge of the spoon-handle, as shown.
The spoon-handle is shown at A. An ornamental scroll is formed on one face, as at 4, around the upper end and along one edge, while a similar scroll, slightly dilferentin outline, is formed upon the under face of the handle in approximately the same position, as at 8. A shell-like formation 11 extends from the under face around to the edge of the upper face at 1, and within the line of this part 1 is a double scroll 2. The lower part of this scroll terminates in inwardly-extending branches inclosing a spray of leaves or a blossom. A reversely-arranged scroll 6 is formed on the opposite edge of the same face, and between this scroll and the end of the scroll 4 is a spray of leaves, and between the lower end of the scroll 6 and the part 7 in the narrow part of the spoon-handle is a third spray of leaves and a blossom. A second shell-like formation 5 extends from the under face of the handle around the edge of the upper face between the scrolls 4: and (i. as shown. A scroll 12 is formed on the under face beneath the scroll 2, and a scroll 9 beneath the scroll 6. The under face is further ornamented at its narrow part, as at 10 13.
I claim The design herein described and shown for the handle of a spoon or other like article.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in WM. H. POND, F. R. CAPNU.
