DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N 0. 22,560, dated June 27, 1893. Application filed May 29, 1893. Serial No. 475,970. Term of patent 14 years.

Be it known that I, ARTHUR G. Roenns, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for the Handles of Spoons, Forks, &c. and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification,and represents a face View.
This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles of table-service, and consists in the configuration and ornamentation as shown in the accompanying illustration.
The handle expandsin width from the bowl, by a series of gradually lengthening scallops, A, to the tip B, where it terminates in a rounded shape. Upon the surface of the face of the handle a vine-like ornamentation of leaves and scrolls C, extends up each side, from about midway the length of the handle, its lower ends meeting a small circular boss I), which is surmounted by a leaf-like form E, and having below it a convcntionalized leafform F. The vine-like ornamentation conforms to the shape of the expanding handle, and its meeting edges at the center-top are connected by a small boss G, having a segmental scalloped ornamentation H, above and below it.
Ielaim-- The design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles, as described and shown in the accompanying illustration.
