DESIGN FORAHANDLE FOR SPOONS, FORKS, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,756, dated September 27. 1887.
Application filed September 2, 1887. SerialNol 248,663. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that. I, HENRY A. PISTORIUS, of Newburyport, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles of Spoons and other Table-Ware, of which the following isa full, clear, and exactdescription.
This design relates to handlesof spoons and other table fiat Ware, including fork and ladle handles; and it consists in a novel ornamentation of the handle, as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 represents a face view of a spoon having its handle ornamented in accordance with my design, and Fig. 2 is a back view of the same.
Ais the handle, the marginal contour of which resembles that of other handles of various articles of table flatware. The outer end portion of said handle is ornamented on its face, within the marginal outline thereof, by a combined scroll and floral raised figure, b c, the scroll portion b appearing as if supported by a stem or rib-like figure or extension, (1, down the one side of the face of the handle, and the floral portion 0 resembling a group of curved offshoots from the scroll of bulb-like form, as shown in Fig. 1.
Across the face of the handle, near the middle and inner end, are raised ornaments ff, each of which resembles aspiral cord wrapped around the handle, and with its ends passing through the handle and terminating in knots e on the same surface of the handle as the main portion of the cord-like figure appears.
Upon the back of the handle is a similar cord-like figuref, terminating in knots e e at its ends.
I claim 1. The design for the handle of a spoon or other article of table flat ware herein shown and described, the same consisting of the combined scroll and floral raised figure b c and stem or rib-like extension d wholly Within the marginal outline ofthe handle.
2. The design for the handle of a spoon or other article of table flat ware herein shown and described,the same consisting of the cordlike raised figu re f, terminating in knotse and appearing as if wrapped around the handle and passing through it.
3. The design for the handle of a spoon or other article of table flatware, the same consisting of the combined scroll and floral raised figure b c and the spiral cord-like ornamientf e, as shown.
