ARTHUR G. ROGERS, OF MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO C. ROGERS & BROS, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,652, dated September 25, 1894.
Application filed July 27,1894. Seriai No. 518,776. Term ofpatent14 years.
T0 on whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ARTHUR G. ROGERS, of Meriden, in the county of New Ilaven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Spoons; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon,to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification.
The figure is a face view of the spoon, embodying my design.
This invention relates to a design for spoons, and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation, as hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying illustration.
The outline of the bowl A is elliptical, the edge of its lower half is scalloped, and the innermost scallop on each side is formed as a scroll a. From the scrolls a a, the edge of the bowl at each side is ornamented with a series of reverse scrolls and leaf ornamentation b, terminating at the shank. Between each of the scallops at the outer end is a. row of heading 0, the beads diminishing in size as they converge from the edge of the bowl toward the center, and each row terminates in an elongated bead cl. The outline of the handle expands gradually from the bowl to the tip, and the ornamentation consists of two long transversely turned scrolls e, following the outline of the handle and extending from the bowl to a point midway of the length of the handle, at which point they meet ornamented scrolisf, which are united at their upper ends by a trefoil g and the scrolls e f, inclosing a narrow plain panel h. The edge of the handle above the trefoil g is formed by reversely turned ornamented scrolls 11k, which terminate in a group of foliated scrolls forming the tip I and inclosing a panel m.
I claim The design foraspoon, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR G. ROGERS. Witnesses:
