Be it known that we, EUSTACE Cairns and CHARLES S. COURT, citizens of the United States, residing, at Providence, in the county 5 of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Handle of a Spoon, Fork, or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the acro conipanying drawings, forming" part thereof.
Figure l is a view of the front or obverse side of the handle, showing our design. Fig. 2 is a view of the rear or reverse side of the same. The bowl of the spoon is shown in solid lines in both figures and the timed blade of a fork is indicated in broken lines.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of our design consists of the series of raised leaves extending in opposite 2o directions from the raised marginal edges obliquely across each other and across the stern of the handle. The blade of the handle is ornamented with the conventional representation of orchid flowers, which are raised above the branch of leaves forming the margin of the blade. The obliquely disposed leaves on the stern of the handle inclose oblong panels. On the reverse side the marginal raised edges represent leaves gradually expanding, meeting at the top of the handle and inclosing a plain central panel.
Having described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for the handle of a spoon, fork or similar article, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
