UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK N. OSBORNE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO GORHAM MANU- FACTURING COMPANY, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, FORKS, 0R SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N 0. 35,649, dated February 4, 1902;
Application filed January 2, 1902; Serial No. 88,249. Term of patent 14 years.
To (LZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK N. OSBORNE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Handle of a Spoon, Fork, or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a view of the front or obverse side of the handle; and Fig. 2 is a view of the rear or reverse side of the handle, showing my new design. The handle is shown connected with the bowl of a spoon, the tines of a fork being shown in broken lines.
As shown in the drawings, the leading and material feature of my design consists in the tapering stem, the base of which curves outward near the junction of the handle with the article to which it is connected, the approximately circular blade of the handle surmounting the stem and inclosing on the obverse side a circular panel, the raised marginal beads of the handle terminating in scrolls and the raised ornamentations representing oakleaves and acorns interspersed with the beads and scrolls, presenting to the eye the appearance of a handle decorated with oak-leaves and acorns.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for the handle of a spoon, fork or similar article, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing" witnesses.
FRANK N. OSBORNE. Witnesses:
G. H. ROBINSON, W. O. SPENcEE.
