No. 24,082. Patented Mar. 5, 1895.
WITNESSES: W INVENTOH B) M? 17/5 ATTOHW Y UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM II. MULLINS, OF SALEM, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A ROOFING-PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,082, dated March 5, 1895. Application filed $eptemher 2B, 1894. Serial No. 524.206. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM II. MULLINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salem, in the county of Columbiana and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Roofing-Plates, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view illustrating inydesign.
The general purpose of this design is the adornment of roofs for buildings, having as a primary object the production of a roofingplate which is zesthetic in itsappearance, and a suitable covering for buildings, gables, dormers, &e., in the better class of architectural structures.
With this object in view the essential features of myinvention reside in the plate now to be particularly described, and consist in the features hereinafter pointed out.
Reference being bad to the drawing and letters thereon which forms part of this specification, it will be observed that the plate coustituting the subject-matter of this specification, presents substantially the outline of a. rhomboid in shape, the numerals 1 and 2 respectively representing alternating courses of ornamented and plain shield shaped bosses. Each of the said bosses l is provided with a geometric anthemion ornament formed by alternating sunken and raised arises 3 and 4 converging to a common center, and terminating in a pear-shaped embossnient 5; while both of the said bosses 2 are plain and nnornamented except that their lower edges (I are well rounded for the purpose of impartingto the boss a full and symmetrical appearance. In addition it will he noted that the ends 7, 7, of the roofing plate are cut or formed on an angle approximating an oblique angle, while the lower edge 8 thereof conforms in outline to the lower edge of tiles 1, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is-- Thedesign for an ornamental roofing-plate, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I subscribe my signature in presence of two witnesses.
