DESIGN FOR A ROOFING-TILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,083, dated March 5, 1895.
Application filed September 26. 1894. Serial No. 524,205- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. MULLINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salem,in the countyof Columbiana and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Roofing-Tile, of which the following is adescription, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view illustrating my design.
The general purpose of this design is the adornment of roots for buildings, having asa primary object the production of a roofingtile which is highly ornamental in its appearance, and which aifordsa most advantageous play for lights and shadows upon its surface.
To this end the essential features of my invention reside in the tile now to be particularly described, and consist in the features hereinafter pointed out.
The illustration forming part of this specification represents asingle detached tile constructed in accordance with my invention, being rectangular in outline and ornamented at its lower end by a bold projection 2 constitutiug a boss or crocket, which latter merges into a raised rearwardly extending longitudinal body portion 1 of substantially semi-cylindrical form. At either side of said body 1 are arranged longitudinal webs or quirks 4, 4. extending from end to end of the tile and corresponding, one will the other; while the lower extremity of the tile, in addition to crocket. 2, terminates in a double or compound ogee 5,constituting an overlapping lip as shown.
