CURTAIN-POLE RJNG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 295,972, dated April 1, 1884.

Be it known that I, J ULIUs BERBECKER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole Rings, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to certain improvements in the curtain-pole ring for which Letters Patent of the United States have been granted heretofore to William Lang, of Brooklyn, New York, No. 286,712, and dated October 18, 1883, whereby the construction of said ring is rendered cheaper, simpler, and more durable; and the invention consists of a curtain-pole ring that is connected at the end by a clamping-sleeve having an eye made integral therewith and bent up at right angles to the body of the sleeve.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side view; Fig. 2, avertical transverse section on line as m, Fig. 1, of my improved curtain-pole ring, and Fig. 3 is a detail top view of the blank from which the clamping-sleeve is made.

A in the drawings represents the body of a curtain-pole ring, which is made of a tube of brass or other suitable sheet metal, and jointed at the, abutting ends by a clamping-sleeve, B, that is tightly closed over the ends of the ring A. The clamping-sleeve B is provided with an eye, 0, which is made integral with the sleeve B, and which is bent up at right angles thereto when the sleeve is applied to the ring. For this purpose the sleeve-blank B, Fig. 3, is provided with an eye, 0, which is cut by suitable dies from brass or other suitable material, the blauk being bentinto sleeve shape, so as to close tightly around the ends of the ring. The eye 0 is first bent outwardly at right angles to the body of the sleeve, as shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2 As the. eye is integral with the sleeve, it cannot become detached or play loose, which has been the case heretofore, as the eye was attached by a pronged shank to a recess of the sleeve.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A curtain-pole ring consisting of a ringshaped tube and of a clamping-sleeve applied to the abutting ends of the tube, said clamping-sleeve being provided with an eye extending at right angles therefrom, and being made integral therewith, substantially as set forth.
2. A clampingsleeve for curtain-pole rings gral therewith, and bent outwardly at right angles to the sleeve, substantially as described. In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my. invention I have signed my name in pres ence of two subscribing witnesses.
