Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ST. JOHN VVIOOD, OF NEW' YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A CUT STONE.
To all vwhom, it may concern:
Be it known that i, ST. JOHN VOOD, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new, original, and ornamen tal Design for a Out Stone, of which the following is a specification, reference being had tothe accompanyingdrawings,in which Figure l is a View in plan of the bottom of a cut stone embodying my design, and Fig. 2 a side elevation of the same.
The object of my invention is the produc tion of a new, original, and ornamental design fora cut stone; and to this end my invention consists in the design for a out stone, substantially as hereinafter specified.
My design, viewed in plan, comprises three concentric star-shaped figures, the innermost one being composed of a series of quadrilateral figures a, that radiate from the center and converge, meeting in an apex, the next being composed of a series of quadrilateral figures b, that each radiate from between two adjacent figures a, and the third being composed of a series of quadrilateral figures o,
each radiating from one 0f the central figures a. and reaching the girdle ofthe stone. Lying between the points of each adjacent pair of figures c is a pair of triangular figures d. The figures b are not equilateral; but two sides of each one, such sides being those that adjoin the figures a, are much shorter than the other two sides, so that each figure has a long pointed form, and the appearance which is presented is that of a star With long slender points. It will be observed also by reference to Fig. l that each long side of one of the figures I) coincides with one of the short sides ofthe adjacent figure b. The outline of a top is illustrated in Fig. 2 in a conventional way by dotted lines.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The ornamental design fora cut stone, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand.
ST. JOHN VOOD. Vitnesses:
HENRY P. ADAMS, F. W. WOLTERS.
