DESIGN FOR A PUZZLE-BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,299, dated February 1 5, 189B.
Application filed January 6, 1898. Serial No. 665,866. Term of patent '7 years.
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ANTHONY J. HAMMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltiinore, in the State of Maryland, have invented a new and original Design for a Puzzie-Box, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design fora puzzle-box; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in a rectangular box having a group of triangular blocks arranged in the forni of a Maltese cross, with their adjacent inclined sides disposed in parallel planes and their straight outer sides spaced from and parallel with the sides of the box, a pair of straight diagonallycrossed strips intersecting each other at the center of the box and lying within the diagonal spaces between said blocks, and separate isolated straight strips arranged in line with and beyond the ends of the crossed strips within the outer portions of said diagonal spaces.
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan View of a puzzle-box embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional View on the lino 2 2 of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a sectional View on the line J 3 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the numeral l designates a rectangular box, within which is arranged a rectangular group of triangular blocks 2. The triangular blocks 2 are grouped in the form of a Maltese cross, with their inclined sides disposed in parallel planes and their straight outer sides spaced from and parallel with the straight sides of the box. A pair of straight diagonally-crossed strips 3 are arranged within the box between the upper and lower sides thereof and intersect eaoh other at the center of the box, said strips extending from the center of the box into the diagonal spaces between the triangular blocks 2. The design is completed by the isolated strips 4, which are arranged in line with and beyond the ends of the crossed strips 3 and which are disposed within the outer portions of said diagonal spaces.
