FIELZ.
F'ELI UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
VILLIAM C. I-IUSS, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,370, dated March 8, 1892. Application filed January 2, 1892. Serial No. 416.904- Term of patent 3% years.
To au whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, WILLIAM C. Huss, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Bar-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification. y
My invention consists in a new and original design fortheback or wall fixture for a counter, the leading features of which are the end supporting-columns and the central column supporting the cornice, together forming alcoves or recesses between the columns; and it consists in the peculiar features shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of one side of the fixture and the central upright. Fig. 2 is a view partly in irregular vertical section and partly in elevation, which illustrates the effect produced when taken in connection with the following description of the drawings.
Referring to separate parts of the design, A-is a rectangular column in cross-section, except the corners, which are slightly rounded off. This has an ornamental base a and carved capital a. Upon the outer front edge of the column is an ornamental torch a2. The bowl of the torch is open fret-work, within which is a globe as. Upon top of the capital a' is mounted a cluster of four columns B, surmounted by a single ornamental capital b. There are two of these uprights-one at each end-to support the forwardly-projecting cornice C.
The case or closets D of the fixture are closed by doors which have panels b and a projecting top or shelf b'. The central portion of the base b2 is sunk back of the side portions, and above this portion is placed a frame E, within which is the panel e. The angular recess in each front corner of this frame is fitted with a tlutcd column e', having a molded base and carved capital, which apparently support the molded top e2 of the frame. The projecting front part of the frame is apparently supported by curved consoles e". Upon top of the frame are tive short columns e4 in front and one in the rear of each end column, surmountedby a single carved cap e5. The space e6 back of the columns is a mirror, which reflects the front columns 4and gives the appearance of two rows of five columns. Upon top of the cap e5 and between it and the cornice is a capital F. This capital is formed by the carved abacus and the carved brackets f', curving upwardly and outwardly from the cap e5 to the cornice, which frame the curved plates f2, which tit in the front and both sides. Round beads of the same material as the frame extend transversely across from bracket to bracket.
The cornice C is formed of the carved molding c, above which are a series of arches c', having bracket-shaped keystones extending down to the molding c, and between the arches are carved triangular panels c2. These arches are capped by the upper molding c3 of the cornice, and upon top of it at each end are iluted paueled pilasters e4 at each end, a cap-moldin g c5 extending the other, and is supported between the pilas; ters by short columns c6. The arched portion of the cornice extendsdown from the front of the cornice-cap c3, forming an augular space c?, Fig. 2, extending from end to end of the fixture. \Vithin this space is fitted curved plates.
In the spaces between each of the end columns and central support are arranged mirrors G, having molded frames, end support ing-columns g, projecting cornice-molding g', and a carved scroll-work tinial g2. Above the inner columns of the glass-f rame, back of and above this molded-frame cornice, are panels 3, of stucco or ornamental caztonpiere.
Vhat I claim is- The design for a wall-iixture for counters, substantially as herein shown and described.
WILLIAM C. IIUSS.
