Be it known that I, Groenen l?. I iEEnE, of Quincy, in the county of Adams and State ol Illinois, have invented a Design for an Ornamental Frame for Pictures, Advertising Tal lets, 85e., of which the i'ollowin,f ,v is a speciiicav tion:

My design is fully represented in the accompanying pliotolithogrnpliic illustration, to which reference is made.

A represents the bodbr of the frame, which is divided vertically and horizontally into a number of rectangular panels, a u', forming separate and distinct compartments, intended to contain pictures, tablets, or other devices for display. The pilasters and horizontal bars separating these panels are faced with ornamental bead or scroll work b. The lower portion of the pilastcrs or upright frame and partition bars are provided with a number of or namental pockets, B, corresponding in number to the number of panels in the frame. The two central panels a' are made of a len gth from top to bottoni equal to three of the panels a. A base plate or bar, D, extends across the bottom of the frame, ornamented by suitable ogec brackets, resting upon uprights or standards E, with ornamental brackets e. On the body A of the frame is placed an ornamental cornice and pediment, F G, the pediinent divided, like said body, into panels G' g gl g2, the center and end panels rising above those intermediate between thei1i,tl1e iarge center one, G', containing between the cornice F and the gable-roof form of cap or cornice F1 a time or clock dial, H, and is surmounted with a finial, h. The end panels g are covered by an ornamental cornice, l, arched in forni, and pro vided lach with a iinial, h. The intermediate panels g g2 are of less height than the panels G g, as stated, and a melding extending from the cornice 1*" to a point about midway of the height of the panel G; thence extends outward ln'irizontally te about midWar of the width of panel y1, whence it descends by Vertical and curved lines cutting the outer corner of panels gl to a point about midway of the height ol' the end panels g, Where it connects with the molded ul'iriglit at the inner side of said panels, as shown. The uprigllts between the panels in the pediment are faced with ornamental rolls or beads i, and the angles in the molding; at the side of panel G and over the panels gl are lilled in by ornamental scrolls I.

Rosettes L' la' may be applied around the dial and at the ends of the beads b, as shown, but are not deemed essential.

I have shown a series of time-dials in some of the compartments; but these forni no part of my invention or design, and such I do not claim.

The frame having' the ornament-al design and contiguration shown and described may be of grained woods for giving additional beauty and finish.

What I claim as my invention is- The design for an ornamental frame havin g the configuration and ornamentation herein described and shown.
