UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ERWIN M. JENNINGS AND CHARLES S. MOSMAN, OF BRIDGEPORT, CON- NEOTIOUT, ASSIGNORS TO THE JENNINGS BROTHERS MANUFACTUR- ING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BASE FOR CLOCK-CASES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,363, dated April 16, 1901.
Application filed March 20,1901. Serial No. 52,109. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ERWIN M. JENNINGS and CHARLES S. Most/IAN, citizens of the United States, and residents of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfiold and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Base for a Clock-Case,of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figures 1 and 2 show a front and right side elevation, respectively,of our novel base; and Figs. 3 and 4 show a rear and left side elevation of the same.
As shown in the accompanying drawings, the leading or material features of our design consist in the graceful shape, configuration, and ornamentation of a base for clock-cases, as will now be described.
The base is provided with four legs A, each of which differs slightly in the matter of detail of scroll and shell decorations B. Adjacent to the lower edge of the front of the base is a small shield O, bordered by several small irregular scrolls, as shown. To the left of this shield is a triangular-shaped latticed panel D, and upon the other side is an attractive leaf E. A long slender angularly-arranged scroll F is located transversely of the base, and extending from its upper edge is a scroll G, which is gracefully disposed in substantially a vertical position. A figure of a child H is shown seated upon the left corner of the lower portion of my base, and a streamer I is deflected rearward from said figure.
The
upper portion or pedestal J of the design is contracted at its middle and has a broadened extremity with a concaved top portion K. Said pedestal is ornamented on all sides in shell effect L.
The right side of the design contains, in addition to the features before named, a rectangular shield M, set in a panel, which lat ter is surrounded by a latticed border. The rear corner contains a concaved verticallydisposed shell N.
The lower portion of the rear of the design shows a plain shield 0, having a series of scrolls P bordering the same, producing a series of uniform concave edges for said shield. The opposite or left side of my base (see Fig. 4) shows a side view of the figure H, before mentioned, and a graceful and substantially triangularly-shaped shield Q, which is surrounded with attractive scrolls R, the lower ones of which extend down to the lower edge of the base.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is
The design for a base for a clock-case, as herein shown and described.
Signed at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, this 12th day of March, A. D. 1901.
