ERWIN M. JENNINGS AND CHARLES E. IWIOSMAN, OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTI- CUT, ASSIGNORS TO THE JENNINGS BROTHERS MANUFACTURING COM- PANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CLOCK-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,815, dated July 23, 1901.
Application filed \Tune 15, 1901. Serial No. 64,763. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ERWIN M. JENNINGS and CHARLES F. MOSMAN, citizens of the United States, and residents of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Clock-Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a clock-case embodying our new design, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.
As shown in the accompanying drawings, the leading or material features of our design consist in the graceful shape, configuration, and ornamentation of a clock-case, as will now be described.
Referring in detail to the reference characters marked upon the drawings, 1 represents a suitable central opening for a movement. (Not shown.)
2 indicates a convex rib which encircles the base of the case, and 3 the feet formed below the rib and at the four corners of the rectangular base of the case. These feet are substantially alike in treatment, and each have a series of shell ornamentations 4, with a graceful leaf 5 turned in over the outer edges of the shell. Central of the lower portion of the case and extending across the rib is an attractive scroll 6, with an additional scroll 7 on each side thereof. Smaller scrolls 8 are gracefully placed between the beforementioned scrolls, and all serve to form an attractive central feature of the base.
The remaining decorations of the front of the case are substantially alike on either side of the opening 1 and comprise a pair of concavo-convex horizontal scrolls 9, having a series of smaller ones 10 interposed between them and the rib 2, before referred to. A vertically-disposed shell ornamentation 11 is located just above the longitudinal scrolls, and between this shell and the movementopening are upper and lower scrolls 12 and 13, respectively, having a suitable ornamentation therebetween. Above the scroll 12 is a third scroll 14, bordering the opening, and adjacent thereto is a corner-scroll 15, which is extended slightly to form a fullness beneath the top rib 16, which also encircles the case. Above this top rib are a series of horizontal scrolls, which are deflected inward to form a central raised finish 17.
The two sides of the case are alike in treatment, and each comprise a central shield 18, having a series of small scrolls 19 bordering the same. Above the shield is a series of miniature scrolls 2O ofpleasing effect. Horizontal scroll 21 connects at the corners with the scrolls 9 of the front and are deflected upward against the shield. Beneath these uniting ends is a central shell decoration 22, with two small scrolls on either side thereof, and above the said horizontal scrolls are vertical shell decorations 23, similar to those upon the face of the case.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a clock-case, as herein shown and described.
Signed at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, this 8th day of June, A. D. 1901.
