Description

10-129. OR D 189822 EX DESIGN.
0. W. WARD.
WATCH BRIDGE.
No. 18,822. Patented Dec. 18, 1888.
UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
CHARLES WILLIS \VARD, OF YONKERS, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A WATCH-BRIDGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No.. 18,822, dated December 18, 1888.
Application filed November 7, 1838- SarialNo. 290,242- Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES WILLIS WARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, in the county of Vvestchester, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for VVatch-Bridging; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying engraving, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to a new and original design for outer plates orbridging for watches; and it consists in the peculiar formation and ornamental shape hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying engraving, the outer casing or rim of the works is represented at A. That portion of the plate or bridging located atthe bottom and extending part way up the sides, and usually designated as the barrel-bridge, is represented at B. The outer edge of the part B is made to conform to the inner contour of the rim or casing. The upper edge of this part is formedin a series of graceful curves, which extend from the opposite corners or ends of the same, bending uniformly downward toward the center at increasing inclines to a pointmidway the center and sides. curve abruptly upward on both sides and unite to form a dome or circular projection, as O, which is directly over the center of the watch.
That portion of the bridge commonly known as the train-bridge, and designated by the At this point the edges letter D, occupies the upper right-hand portion of the casing. Its lower edge is placed a shortdistance from and is curved diametric ally opposite to that of the adjacent portion of the lower part, B. The lower inner end of this part is extended in toward the center and terminates in a rounded or circular-shaped point, occupying a position between the projection O and the upper curved edge of the right-hand side of part- B. The outer edge is curved to conform with the inner contour of the rim and extends beyond the axial center of the casing, where it terminates in a sharp point. The inner or side edge of this part D is formed in a series of curves, one starting from the outer edge and terminating in a pro jection or knob, and two small curves extending from this projection and terminating at the inner rounded point heretofore mentioned.
E represents the balance-cock, which is of the usual form, it extending into the space between the upper and lower parts.
By this design of bridging an artistic effect is produced.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a watch-bridge, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES WILLIS WARD.
