Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VALENTINE G. SCHUCK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BRAID.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,081, dated August 5, 1890` Application iiled July 10, 1890. Serial I Iui 35 8,851. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LVALENTINE G. SoHUoK, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Braid for Trimming Garments, dsc.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying photograph, the figures therein representing the braid with the colors of its cords or strands dierently arranged, by means whereof varying eects are produced without changing the design.
The design consists of a soutache braid having its obverse or front face ornamented by a narrow edging b along each margin thereof, said edging having the resemblance of a narrow fiat cord apparently attached longitudinally to said edge. The front face of the braid in said design presents to the eye the appearance of four longitudinal parallel marginallyinterlocking fiat cords or strands a a and b b, each of uniform width throughout their length, and which are severally defined by slight intervening grooves, and of which the two central cords or strands da cor respond in appearance and are much wider than the two lateral cords or strands h b, which also correspond with each other in their appearance, all as clearly illustrated in the accompanying photographs of the braid.
I claim as my invention- The design for the front face of a braid, as herein shown and described, the same having the appearance of two comparatively wide parallel iat cords or strands seemingly marginally interlocked, and each provided with an outer parallel marginal edging haviugthe appearance of a narrow fiat cord or strand, laterally attached to the adjacent central strand, the width of the four several cords or strands being defined by slight longitudinal indentations between them, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
VALENTINE G. SUHUCK.
