UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VALENTINE G. SGHUGK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE SUTRO BROS. BRAID COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR BRAID.
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, VALENTINE G. ScIIUcK, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Braid, to be used by Way of ornamentation and in trimming garments &c., of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a front view of the design, and Fig. 2 is a sectional diagram on line cc-m of Fig. 1, which show the arrangement of the strands, the colors of which may be varied so as to produce different effects but without changing the design.
The design consists of a Soutach braid having two interlocked central cords or strands b b of uniform size running in an undulating parallel, on each side of which, and forming the edge of the braid, isa much smaller cord or strand which conforms to the undulations of the cord or strand to which it isinterlocked. The smaller cords or strands are shown at a aand, with respect of each other, are of uni- 2 5 form size. The front face of the braid in said design presents the appearance of a well defined central undulating groove 0 along the interlocking line between the cords or strands b b, and a slight indentation along the interlocking of the marginal cord or strand (1, to 0 its adjacent central cord or strand. The two marginal cords or strands conforming to the undulations of the central cords or strands give to the braid the appearance of being alternately scalloped on its respective edges.
I am aware of the existence of braid which presents a serpentine or zigzag effect but it will be observed that the design for which I claim a patent differs from all others in the well defined central undulating groove, the
two undulating parallel cords or strands of uniform size and the adjacent smaller marginal cords or strands presenting when complete the distinguishing characteristics here in described.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim- The design for a braid herein described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
VALENTINE G. SC HUGK.
