UNITED STATES JOSEPH LEON GOBEILLE, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE OHAN- NON-EMERY STOVE COMPANY, OF QUINCY, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A COOKING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,332, dated May 22, 1888.
Application filed January 19, 1888. Serial No. 261,335. Term of patent! years To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J osErH Lnon GonErLLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, county of Guyahoga, State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Cooking-Stove, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying engraving of a cooking'stove having said design.
This design embraces several new and distinctive parts and combinations of parts which go to make up the whole design, as hereinafter specified.
One integral part of this'design is theshape and ornamentation of the hotcloset door A, which ornamentation consists of a horizontal branch or spray of foliage, a, entirely across the upper part of said door A and reversed across the bottom of said door, asshowu at a, said sprays or branches being connected near their inner ends by a vertical spray of leaves, I), and near their outer ends by a reversed vertical spray, 1), these four sprays or branches inclosing and thereby forming a rectangular panel,in the center whereof is displayed a circular floral rosette or cluster, 0, all as shown.
A further distinctive part of this design is the shape and ornamentation of the reservoir end B,which ornamentation consists of a horizontal bar or spray of leaves across the center of said reservoir end, (shown at 0,) having at the center of said last-named bar or spray, projecting beyond it above and beiow,a circular floral rosette or cluster, 6, and below and above said horizontal bar or spray, issuing from the points where the upper orlower edges of said bar or spray are intersected by the circumference of said circular rosette or clus ter, ornamental scrolls so disposed that the two inner scrolls turn away from each other,
and toward the two outer scrolls, (shown at d (1",) while the two outer scrolls also turn away from each other and toward the two inner scrolls, (shown at d and d,) all as shown.
A further distinctive part of this design is the shape and ornamentation of the fire-door C, which ornamentation consists of ahorizon tal spray or branch of leaves, q,across the center thereof, having at the center of said lastnained branch or spray, upon and projecting above and below the same, a circular floral on nament, p, with scrolls r r r r, disposed two above and two below said spray,the twoinner scrolls turning toward each other and away from the two outer scrolls, and the two outer scrolls turning toward each other and away from the two inner scrolls, each scroll lying diagonally upon the face of said fire-door O, and issuing, respectively, from the edge of said central circular ornament, p, near to but not at the point where such edge or circumference intersects the upper or lower edge of said horizontal spray g, all as shown.
A further distinctive part of this design is the shape and ornamentation of the front door, D, which ornamentation consists of an upper flat pancl,on which is displayed at the left end a scroll, g, and at the right end the samescroll in reverse, each of said scrolls having at each end a leaf, and between said scrolls,in the center of said panel, a circular floral cluster, f. The ornamentation of said front door, D, and upon the lower part thereof, further consists of an irregularlyswelling surface exhibiting seven panels, 8, upon each of which panels is displayed at the top and bottom a three-pointed leaf, t and t, and in the center a lobate compound ornament, a, all as shown.
A further distinctive part of this design is the shape and ornamentation of the front-door jamb E, which ornamentation consists of the broken right lines it and h, crossing and recrossing each other,and having above and be low their termini half-rosettes t and i, all as shown.
A further distinctive part of this design is the shape and ornamentation of the oven-door F, which ornamentation consists of a horizon tal band of flowers and leaves, m, entirely across the lower part thereof, and a similar band, n, entirely across the upper part thereof, between said bands at and n, exhibiting a square raised panel, exhibiting in each angle of said panel, so as to leave a circular central space, an ornament ofscven flaring and curl= ing lines, k k k" k, each line ending in a small knob or button, and in front of said panel three twigs, j j j, the second twig issuing from the lower twig and the upper twig issuing from the second twig, each twig bearing a single five-pointed leaf, all as shown.
I claim as new- 1. In a design for a cooking'stove, the design for a hot-closet door herein shown and described, consisting of the branches or sprays a a, b b and floral cluster 0.
2. In a design for a cooking-stove, the design for a reservoirpanel herein shown and described, consisting of the scrolls d d 11 d the foliage bar or spray e, and floral cluster 6'.
3. In a design for a cooking-stove, the design forafire-door herein shown and described, consisting of the central fioral cluster, 1), the horizontal floral band q,and the scrolls r r 1" r 4. In a design for a cooking-stove, the design for a front door herein shown and described, consisting of the central floral cluster, f, the scrolls g and g, the three-pointed leaves t and t, and the compound ornament u.
5. In a design for a cooking-stove, the design for a front-door frame herein shown and described, consisting of the lines h and h and semi-rosettes i '6'.
6. In a design for a cooking-stove, the design for an oven-door herein shown and described, consisting of the twigsjjj, the curling lines 70 k in k", and the bands of foliage m and n.
7. In a design fora cookingstove,thewhole design unitarily herein shown and described, embracing the hot-closet door, reservoir end, front door, front door jalnb, fire door, and oven-door, all substantially as herein shown 35 and described.
