VVILLARD J. ANDREVS, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO JOHN URI MUSICK, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A COOKlNG-STOVE,
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18.263. dated April 24. 1888.
Apllicatinn illeil December 19,1887. Serial No. 258,417. Tenn of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that 1, WILLARD J. ANDREWS, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is so full, clear, and exact a description as will enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the saine, reference being had tothe accompanying drawing.
The leading feature of my design consists in the peculiar ornamentation of the front and top ofthe stove, as more folly hereinafter deA scribed.
A indicates the stove, which is rectangular in general contour, and has a waterreservoir, B, and coal-box D at one side. The edges of the top of the stove are slightly beveled, as shown, inclining outwardly from top to bottom, and such beveled edges are ornamented by depressed configurations, each comprising a small seniieircnlar figure, a, opening at the upper corner ot' the edge of the stovetop, a smaller seniicircular figure, a', opening at its top into the lower curved face of said gnre a and its closed end extending nearly or quite to the lower corner of the edge of the stovetop, and a deeper depressed figure, el, semicircular in shape, within and concentric with the said ligure a.
The dat rack B extends across the rear face of the stove, and is formed of two side pieces, b b, the forward lower edges of which are struck on a curve and thence rise vertically, the lower shelf, b', upper shelf, b", and back ithe lower shelf being formed of bars, as shown.
The respective doors of the stove are formed with raised edges d around the outer faces of the same, the said edges d being ornamented with raised figures d', forming ornamental borders for the said door.
The centers of the fire-box door E and the ash-box door F are ornamented by rectangular depressions efand the door F by a erossbar, f', secured to lugs at the front of said door. The intermediate door, G, is ornamented'by openings g.
The ovendoor H has at its center a dcpressed crescent, h, merging at one end into a depressed tive-pointed star, h. the stove below the oven-door is provided with a small ornamental door, I, and the whole lower front portion ofthe stove is formed of a plate, K, ornamented at its edges by raised borders L, having ornamental screws l at suitable intervals.
I claim- 1. In a design for a stove herein shown and described, the front thereof having an ornamentali top the edges of which are beveled and provided with depressed configurations, each comprising a small semicirenlar iigu re, a, opening at the upper corner of the edge ofthe stove-top, a smaller seinieircnlar figure, a', opening at its top into the lower curved face of said figure a and its closed end extending nearly or quite tothe lower corner of the edge of the stove-top, and a deeper depressed iigure, a2, semcircular in shape, within and concentric with figure as, substantially as specified.
2. In a design for a stove herein shown and described, the ornamental front having the respective doors provided with raised ornamental borders with depressed centers, substantially as specified.
3. In a design for a stove herein shown and described, the oven-door consisting of an orna mental border surrounding the central portion thereof, and a depressed crescent merging into a starat the center, substantially as shown.
