Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK A. MAGEE, OF WENHAM, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE MAGEE FURNACE COMPANY, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A sT'ovE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,871, dated November 21, 1899.
Application filed August 18, 1899. Serial No. 727,704. Term of patent 14 years.
T0 @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK A. MAGEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wen ham, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves or Ranges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The figure is a view in perspective of the stove or range.
The essential features of the design are embodied in the outline of the stove as a whole andl in the salient parts thereof, such as the base, the oven-door, the ash-pit door, the ornamental plate below the ash-pit door, the elevated shelves, their supporting-brackets, the upper-shelf back, the boxing for the smokepipe, and the lateral open-work lower and upper shelves.
The base A consists of a front panel or section which is rounded outwardly and has plain ends ce Ct', a central figure a2, comprising a conventional suspended leaf obordered upon its sides and bottom by three curved gures, from the upper ends of which scrolls extend. The lower edge d4 is curved, as represented. The corners of the base are ornamented with a shell figure, which is inclosed by linework, and the legs have suggestions of scrolls on each side edge at the foot and along the top.
The oven door B has four outwardlyrounded plain surfaces b, upon which at the corners extend a small shell figure. These spaces are separated from each other at the top and bottom and at each end of the plate by larger shell figures surrounded by ornamental borders, the inner ends of which also form a partial border for the name-plate space of the door.
The door C is in some respects a reproduction of the oven-door in that it has the plain surfaces and theshell designs at the corners.
The central ornamentation of the door comprises two shell figures back to back inclosed by a simple border, the ends of which at the top and bottom are crossed.
The plate D below the door C is a reproduction of a leaf radiating from a point at the front of the plate and repeatingin an enlarged form the leaf of the base. The upper shelf D' has an open-work pattern of the character represented, as has also the lower shelf D2. The lower elevated shelves E and E have rounded'corners and are supported by brackets e, each of which has its outer edge shaped as specified and bears as its principal ornamentation a shell e' near the lower outer corner and from which extends inward a spread conventional leaf, thus uniting the essential elements of the base and of the side of the stove. The elevated shelf F has an ornamental back, the upper edge of which is curved, as represented, and upon which, extending from a central point, are two foliated sprays, which carry out the leaf pattern before referred to.
The bracketsff2 have an urn-shaped outer edge and also an Open-work background, upon which extend from the edge divided leaf or foliage effects.
The box or casing G has two panels, the lower of which, f has the leaf effect mounted upon an arabesque design of linework which extends above it. The upper panel isa prominent shell igure mounted upon a leaf design.
Having thus described the design and its essential parts, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a stove as herein shown and described.
FRANK A. MAGEE.
